Absolutely. I can’t agree more. But it’s his responsibility to manage negative environments and recognize their potential impact on his health. Ultimately, it’s his choice to either stay in that environment or not. Again, the only one capable of changing Lehner’s life is Lehner himself. Good therapy and a positive support mechanism can help him find keys, but nobody can force him to use them.

While I agree that some of these Neanderthals need to go away, the only person that can “cause” Lehner to relapse is Lehner himself.
-
I agree, as I’ve been to countless sporting events over the years and have heard all sorts of nasty things said to and about players by angry, frustrated fans both drunk and sober. In my own personal experience, I didn’t hear that kind of stuff hurled towards Lehner, though; just people getting on his case for poor performance. As is their prerogative. My biggest issue with Lehner currently is the complete 180 he did in the media regarding the Sabres organization and then deciding to throw the fans under the bus as well in the process. There are 18,000 fans in that building and he’s gonna trash all of us for the actions of a few that he found objectionable? Sorry, but he can go pound sand with that bs. We can and should sympathize with his struggle against mental illness and we should wish him well in his recovery. But his illness does NOT give him license to act like a grade a douche nozzle and that’s one of the first things he should have learned in the recovery process

Devon Levi has a palpable Ryan Miller vibe. Let’s hope that holds true between the pipes on his way to a stellar 18 year career.

No, I don’t know that. My personal experience, from sitting next to the Sabres bench game after game, was fans getting on him for not being able to stop a puck in a shootout or on a breakaway during a game. What else was there to boo him for? Are you suggesting fans mocked his mental illness? When they didn’t even know about it? C’mon, what else were we booing him for? Try answering that before you start hurling insults about people being dense.

As part of “all of us here combined” I feel qualified when I say, that ain’t saying much. We set a very low bar.😄

Players calling out fans for disapproving of their play on the ice is 100% right? Can’t agree with that at all. It is 100% my prerogative as a fan to call out poor effort. Maybe he shouldn’t have gone 0.00% in shootouts over the course of a season instead. I wish him well in his continued recovery.

He was also injured in a preseason workout and started the season at less than 100% health wise. And it was so obvious. In retrospect, perhaps it would have been better to put him on IR instead of playing. Oh well. -

That’s a fair point to be sure, but it may just be a numbers game in Seattle. They’ve had their pick of several much more experienced NHL blueliners and given his lack of experience at the NHL level, he may not be ready for them but, given our situation, especially with RHDs, he might be ready to gain experience for us. I doubt he could seriously screw up our plans this year. -

The injury occurred when he hit his head against the boards against the Islanders on 3/7/21. It is a herniated cervical (neck) disc. Whether or not the specific disc has been identified, I don’t know. -

Anybody seen a Penguins lineup? Duffer made it sound like they were barely gonna ice an AHL team tonight. -
It’s not enough to be “not a racist.” That is a tired, pass the buck, feel good excuse for tolerating it in our society. We need to be anti racist, anti bigotry, anti misogynistic, etc. That means absolute ZERO tolerance and all the potential uncomfortable truths that may entail. Like telling your bigoted uncle he’s no longer welcomed at Thanksgiving dinner, for example. Or calling out and possibly losing some longtime friends. We’ve all been enablers at one time or another. We’ve all been complicit by not standing up in the face of it. We will never be the best versions of ourselves unless we start acting like it. And that starts with me.

Guess that means that Jack couldn’t do jack.

Is that sanitary? Doesn’t matter; I need a shave, anyway.

Not surprised since Harrington gets most of his ideas from this forum to begin with. -

I suspect it’s rarer than Sabres players named Jack. Anyway, regarding suspension, I wonder if the Sabres can do that if he refuses their prescribed treatment? But even if they can suspend him without pay, it’s something I hope they would never do. That seems punitive given they would have been happy to pay him if things were different.

I expect John Hayden to change his first name to Jack so that @LabattBlue and I can put another one in that name column.
