  1. Brandon can write his own ticket in either the NFL or MLB. Lots of short memories here regarding the state of our stadium and corporate sponsorship before he arrived. He was essentially given an ultimatum by Mr. Wilson upon his arrival and he accomplished that and more. Not the least of which was the requirement to sell all luxury suites in order to receive approximately $70m in state funding for stadium renovations. Damned impressive stuff. The short-sighted will say "anyone can sell Bills tickets in WNY" while totally missing the point that it's not about individual game tickets. It's about generating unshared revenue. Brandon did that in a depressed market for years.
  2. My apologies to you both as well as to the rest of the forum. Total brain cramp on my part as I conflated Charlotte with Tulsa. Embarrassing, actually. I think there is every reason to believe Keith Scott had a gun given the video evidence that has come to light.
  3. That's a lot of supposition. Unfortunately, we don't have the proper context. But we know for a fact he was not armed. Based on that and what was in that video with three cops surrounding him, I don't buy for a second their lives were in imminent danger. There is no reason for the action they took.
  4. I don't think so. It wasn't de-escalation that got the cop shot, it was a bad guy with a gun. The important takeaway is that after the cop was shot, they were able to prevent an escalation that saw further loss of life. I was impressed by that in light of these frequent incidents of unarmed people being shot by police. Here's a suspect who had a gun, shot a cop, and STILL was able to be arrested without further incident. That's good training and experience in my book as it most likely would have gone the other way in other jurisdictions.
  5. Bad things happen when lack of training meets inexperience. I was watching the Jeff Ross ComedyCentral roast of Boston police officers last week and this one cop related the story of how he and his partner came upon an armed suspect who actually shot his partner in the leg and they were still able to resolve the conflict without shooting and killing the suspect. Brought to mind what a cop's job focus should always be: DE-escalation. It can be done.
  6. Love it. It's worrisome to me though. Symbol-minded people will be the most easily fooled by those seeking to do us harm, whether from internal of external threats.
  7. I wish Rex were smarter with his mouth (tall order, I know). Folks might take that statement to mean that Rex actually values winning the off season, whatever that means. That was just his way of paying a compliment to Whaley and the players acquired.
  8. Look at me, I'm a great American because I stand during the national anthem. A true patriot, I am. Just look at how I stand and place my hand on my heart. Yep, that's me singing along because I know every word (first verse, anyway). I've never sacrificed a phucking thing for my country, but dammit, I do look good when I'm standing up for the anthem. Hey, appearances matter after all. Seriously though, this story sickens me and those people bring shame to the very nation they profess to care so much about. I'd wager they are the first to bitch and moan about "political correctness" just so long as it's not THEIR political correctness in question. This guy goes out of pocket to actually make a daily difference in children's lives and he's not a good American? Give me a phucking break. Our nation is becoming more and more about style over substance where symbols and our interpretation of them, mean more than the actual ideals they represent. That is just wrong.
  9. That's why I think we'll be in the hunt this season. One more win a month last year and we were right there.
  10. I'd say any regression or lack of progress results in fans losing it. If we can vie for a playoff spot until the end of the season while proving to be a tough team to play against, then I think fans will see a nice trajectory and accept that. Next year is a whole different story though. That said, I think we will be in the hunt THIS season.
  11. Which system though? They've had several over the last 15 years and that's one of the reasons they are so good as they adapt personnel and play a myriad of systems. There are commonalities in that they desire to get rid of the ball quickly, vary the pace, catch you in a poor sub package, and then exploit those mismatches. So hard to pin them down to one thing, but since Gronk, if I could pin them to one system over the other, it would be their use of their two TE system. It's a nightmare. You go light to defend the pass and they line em up tight and run it down your throat. Go heavy to stop that and they split em out and abuse your LBs or smaller DBs in coverage. All the while Edelman is killing you. Defensively, they are the same. With the most important commonality being that Belichick is gonna make it a point to take away the one or two things you can do well and make you beat him with something else. I am now sick.
  12. I'm pretty sure that's a Muslim cat from Kenya.
  13. I've long felt our playing surface appeared darker than other arenas when watching on TV. Not sure how it will impact my live viewing experience, but I'm looking forward to it. Liger's right though; it's all window dressing and style over substance until they ice a winning team. Which will be this year!
  14. I voted Bailey, but I think Guhle is going to get the 9 game look he didn't get last season.
  15. Enough of your japes, knave. I've grown tired of your skullduggery.
  16. Hillary should offer her hand for Trump to kiss it. Either that or her ass.
  17. That's what I was trying to get at. Much like nature abhors a vacuum, bigotry and hatred abhor the lack of words used to express it. Different new words just end up taking the place of the previous old words.
  18. If only erasing bigotry was as easy as erasing words. When hearts and minds evolve like etymology, we may have the problem licked.
  19. Yeah, I guess I was a bit vague. I'll try to clarify. Like Lenny Bruce, I don't believe that hiding words or censoring words does anything to lesson their intent. Indeed, I believe all words should be freely expressed for all to see, all the time. After a while I think they lose their ability to hurt as they grow stale. But they ALWAYS reveal the bigot for who he is and for all to see with nothing to hide behind. We can't protect ourselves from words, anyway. Only the people that choose to use them. I prefer to see him coming. And I'm utterly opposed to not teaching Mark Twain and others because their works contain "offensive" words. That truly does a disservice to our collective intelligence and truly prevents teaching opportunities and life lessons. And I think it is dangerous. Where does the list of banned works begin and end when it comes to the "offense" they inflict? Who determines that? It may sound melodramatic, but banning books and other literature is a time honored tactic in gaining traction to impose control over a populace. In short, I don't see any upside to censorship. I see lots of negatives.
  20. Jim Schwartz, during his interview for our HC job, made it emphatically clear when asked if he would consider remaining as DC if the HC position went to someone else, that he would only stay if he were named HC. This was days before RR was even on the radar to be interviewed, btw.
  21. I think he meant "Those Poles are crazy."
  22. So xxxxxx is less offensive than xxxxxx? I appreciate the clarification. Somewhere Lenny Bruce weeps.
  23. Has Lehner lost his super powers? Can he still shoot lasers from the eyes? Seriously though, it sounds like he has rearranged his athletic and career priorities. Good for him.
