Attendance issues at whatever our arena is named now
tom webster replied to #freejame's topic in The Aud Club
The team needs to grow back their season ticket base. You will never get a huge walk up crowd to a weekday game in the Fall or Winter when there is huge inventory for weekend games. Season ticket holders will limit availability and they will sell games they don’t want below cost if they have to, in effect “papering” the house. I am not privy to the numbers but I’ll bet total single game buys are not much lower then they were when the team was getting 18K plus. -

All businesses have two choices when it comes to selling their product. Strive for the best and price it accordingly. Strive to be the cheapest and make it up on volume. Anything in the middle is a waste of time. Discounts and coupons invariably lead to price conscious consumers who only spend when induced by coupons /discounts and said coupons/discounts devalue your product. -

Crunch some numbers. Are they really losing if they get 12K with a $60M payroll versus 19K with an $85M? -

It’s not about protecting their margin, it’s about not selling tickets below what season ticket and suite holders pay. It was a pledge started by Golisano and continued by the Pegulas. It’s was a huge problem during the Rigas regime. The room for negotiation should fall between face value and a small percentage above what their season ticket and suite holders pay. -

You are benching a Selke candidate for a kid who has showed nothing 5 on 5 and leaving in two guys, Casey and Vinny, whose lazy play led to one goal against and one goal taken off the board. Tage, Tuch, Dylan and Asplund should not be part of any random rotation. -

Asplund getting benched is a shocker. -
Best players since expansion: which Sabres make the cut?

If Johnny Buick made it, there may be room for that Sabre great, Clark Gillies. -
Goaltending remains this organization’s biggest question mark.

I agree that none of the “prospects” can be counted on as sure fire. I do think it’s just as likely that Comrie is as good as anyone that was available to them. Obviously they tried to acquire Murray and I’m pretty sure they attempted to convince Gibson to come here. Another season of progress will open doors to other possibilities. -

I’m not sure anyone, including KA, would argue that the goaltending situation couldn’t be better. The real question is, was there anyone available, that wanted to come here, that would not have cost a significant asset that would have been foolish to give up at this point. -

Actually, you are the only one I’ve seen negatively commenting on Quinn. -

Asplund is better. He will be a third liner who will be used even higher in certain matchups. -
I would say the Portillo thing is more likely but then again, I thought they signed Ullmark so what the hell do I know?
-
Maybe Portillo changed his mind, or maybe they agreed to take Bob’s contract off Florida’s hands after Knight signed.

A friend of mine told me Hockeybuzz reported that Buffalo was considering an offer sheet for him. More then likely this is a story told enough times that people are starting to believe it. I’d be surprised, but not shocked to hear Buffalo has talked to Dallas.

NHL Salary Cap Increasing Quicker Then Anticipated?
tom webster replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Maybe you should question how an industry where seemingly half the franchises claim to be “hemorrhaging” money, they also keep doubling in value every 6 or 7 years. -

I predicted it before the pandemic. To be honest, I can’t remember the context. -

Just to be clear, his 11 year old really did do the design on the Bauer site after telling him he hated the old design. -

I’m going to have to find that post were I predicted a $90-$100M cap and people laughed at me. -
We have secured tickets for January game versus the Wild. Taro T and Wyldnwoody44 have committed to tickets so I have 4 tickets still available if anyone is interested.
