  1. Do I doubt? quite contrary, it’s my whole freakin point. You continuously imply that he is happy with roster and what he has all the while he’s trying his hardest to improve it and unable to complete the deal. Maybe, if he thinks every other GM is under valuing his offer, it’s he who is overvaluing his offer.
  2. He was brilliant with trades he consummated but he left a lot in the table due in large part to over analysis with a little bit of trouble selling his point of view. I account for that possibility
  3. I don’t disagree with this but it’s completely different then saying he’s built this huge prospect pool and is content to see it through without making a “splash” move. Also , there is a vast expanse between making a significant move to improve and spending like a drunken sailor. It is also alright to admit he’s made mistakes. He messed up the Ullmark negotiation. He would kill to get Linus or someone like him on a two year deal right now.
  4. We are probably not that far apart on the optimism scale but the thing that continues to undermine your logic is the general manager himself constantly telling us how close he was to a deal but apparently unable to close the deal. Logic says that if he’s in till the end that he’s not satisfied with the status quo, he’s just unable to do anything about it.
  5. There is a lot of value in what Erik can bring. A lot like when Punch brought in Tim Horton. I always remember back when Chuck Knox traded Bobby Chandler for Phil Vilipiano. It was really a terrible trade from a talent and game impact point of view but Phil brought a lot of leadership that couldn’t be quantified. Paying your 6/7 defenseman over $3M sounds crazy but I hope he has the same impact that some credit Phil V with.
  6. Kane is likely out longer then Quinn so he wouldn’t help in that regard.
  7. And just to be clear. I’m very optimistic for the future but at some point KA has to make that move and I think he has had the chance. They have a crazy amount of prospects and I know they won’t all pan out but they really only need two or three to solidify this roster for three to four years. Additionally, this is probably the last year where they have valued cap space over teams they are contending with and it seems they won’t be taking advantage of that either.
  8. I would agree with this. Obviously Buffalo is counting on Sam’s development so that while he is overpaid the first two years, he will be underpaid the duration of the contract.
  9. I was going to say this. Teams can manipulate this rather easy and because they all do this, no one complains
  10. It’s starting to feel like Darcy. He seems to be over analyzing and comes up with this hard fast value and won’t budge. Couple that with a high value he’s putting on some of these prospects and here we sit banking on what would be historically great production from a couple of draft classes.
  11. The better play is to sign Taresenko and then trade him when Quinn is healthy. Tatar is notoriously dead weight in the playoffs, Tarasenko just the opposite. I don’t think they will, but that would be my plsy
  12. You don’t get full cap relief by burying Comrie in minors but your point is taken.
  13. A) there is always someone who thinks he can fix it B) Buffalo has the luxury of not needing his offense. Other teams could use him as strictly a power play specialist
  14. Unfortunately , most of Quinn’s probably will be a non-issue but let’s hope all of that hits, however unlikely.
  15. I don’t think they are going to spend like drunken sailors either but the point is, anyone they bring is going to be offset by players on the roster in addition to two others plus a forward probably results in VO’s salary going as well.
  16. The way I look at it, and I think some in the front office do, is right now they are probably a playoff team. With him, they are virtually guaranteed a playoff team, of course taking into account that a lot of things can happen to derail that. Is making the playoffs with a goalie that could win a round on his own worth losing a prospect and a number one?
  17. I believe that was called “Twitter members,” at least until yesterday.
  18. The $5.8M is really misleading. It counts at least two players that won’t be here and yes, I know they can’t bury it all in AHL. Point is, they have plenty of room.
  19. KA won’t trade Kulich or JJP. He wouldn’t want to trade the others but in the right deal he would trade one of the other three. I think they are all going to be good NHL players but you can’t keep them all.
  20. Dahlin is done. My guess is they announce it after they think significant moves are done or Wednesday in order to avoid weekend/holiday slow news cycle.
  21. Generally face offs are overrated but I think it’s logical to assume that winning them is better, and at least being close to 50% is desirable
  22. I hate this. They should be at the point that their twelfth m/thirteenth forward needs to be better.
  23. There are alot of thiings you can say about Mike, but to say he doesn't like sports is not one of them. He has been a Sabres season ticket holder, probably knows more about baseball than anyone in the area and is a huge football fan. He is just not a rah rah guy and he expects you to have an intelligent take if you disagree with him.
  24. It’s really hard to argue with the overall success of KA and the future looks bright. However, it’s incumbent on him to take the next step. I understand that New Jersey is a year ahead but they appear to be increasing that lead. Also, Adams and Granato went to great lengths to point out how the more established teams sold their future for short term gains. He has to take advantage of that now and I think he will but until he does, he’s still a theory.
  25. I’m pretty sure I know all of these but I’ll just add one more, Joel Savage.
