  1. I'm not sure if its the same situation but Benson blew a gasket when Babcock presser was playing as 716 opened up. Started calling him an effin liar and demanding that station be changed.
  2. Pierre Lebrun just confirmed something I had brought up earlier. Sometime between now and June 21st, Vegas will be able to sign RFA's and UFA's and those signings will count as an expansion pick, i.e. if they signed Girgs and the Sabres didn't match, the Sabres would not lose anybody in the expansion draft. Edit: apparently only applies to unprotected RFA's.
  3. It was Benson.
  4. They also were able to make a trade or teo for under performing guys that turned their careers around, something you need to happen occasionally
  5. Again, we are getting caught up in titles. Very few franchises have the flow of power that everyone seems to want. I'll bet half the coaches in the league actually have more power then the GM, maybe more.
  6. KM, GB, ME
  7. Russ Brandon and his staff have quickly endeared themselves to the powers that be within NHL headquarters. It makes perfect sense that he would be the lead/ liaison between NHL and Sabres. That being said, I'm betting on a Zito, John Madden tandem and expect it soon.
  8. I think people are worrying too much about titles and procedures and how things used to be done. These aren't family run little hobbies anymore. They are billion dollar businesses. There is no right way to run a company. Bill Parcells used to say that there is no harm in making mistakes, the success comes from admitting your mistakes and moving on. Even if you believe TP is a meddling idiot you have to acknowledge the likelihood that even he will eventually luck into the perfect home hire. If you believe, like me, that he is a smart businessman who knows what he is doing, you call that luck perseverance.!
  9. Again, the Drury narrative just isn't and wasn't true.
  10. Gotcha, my apologies.
  11. I'd bet on a Tuesday press conference.
  12. I don't really see the comparison at all. Grigs was a touted first round pick that people thought could be a number 1 center. TT a secondary free agent acquisition that no one thinks can be a franchise quarterback. My personal opinion, he can be good enough that with a few breaks could lead a team to a 10-6 season and a playoff birth while the franchise searches for "the guy."
  13. Several professional pr people have voiced the same opinion. A couple gauged it st 1000 percent better, whatever that means.
  14. My impression has always been that those who value Tyrod see no reason he can't be your QB while you look for a better one. He is the perfect placeholder. The only real explanation to support the notion you can't keep him is if you think you need to tank to get someone better. In my view, tanking doesn't work in the NFL.
  15. Exactly. First, it's not like scouts keep all notes to themselves till April. The last three months are fine tuning the lists. Second, no other organization is going to let you hire their personnel people till after the draft so you can either hire people out of work or go with some draft guru's list. You know I'm a fan of DW, but I'm glad they moved on as well.
  16. Again, this is not an unusual scenario. Teams regularly make scouting staffs stay till after draft. It's not just a bills thing.
  17. They loved it here and wanted to stay but everyone reaches their tipping point. Even with that, as late as mid June, DB's agent still worked out a scenario where they both would have come back and Reiger wouldn't pull the trigger.
  18. Sorry you felt that way but he and Briere desperately wanted to stay.
  19. Because he is not a turncoat?
  20. This is so inaccurate. Completely ignores facts that he agreed to contract with Buffalo, that the Rangers only approached him after Nylander left for Washington and that he gave his soul to this team and only inept management cost them Drury and Briere.
  21. For what it's worth, all this talk about the millions he is spending on ex-coaches, a lot of it is offset when they get new jobs. Rex Ryan's deal even had offset language in the event ESPN hired him, which of course happened.
  22. Wouldn't be surprising to see it become a prototype for franchises across the country.
  23. Garth is as reliable as any casual fan who can tell you what sport the Sabres play.
  24. A) no surprise, I agree with Taro, he will get a pretty "high-ranking" job soon B) although no one seems to be acknowledging it, it is pretty normal for scouts and personnel people to be retained till after draft. If the Bills scouts know they are being fired, it's probably because guys in Carolina and Philadelphia know they are coming.
  25. As someone else stated, he did apologize and you need to do a little research on business reaction to the business model that Russ put together. Ultimately it was Pegula money but they were astounded by the numbers Russ presented. Even a billionaire needs to be convinced he's not going to blow his fortune on a losing proposition.
