I get the negativity and I would not guarantee anything but after last year’s disastrous losing streak the team played at about a hundred point pace for over half a season. With an improved team, they are clearly capable of making a run but as others have pointed out, losses to St. Louis and Calgary are unacceptable. The other factor in their favor is that teams at the top have started to age out and some of the stories favored by the press, I.e. the Canadiens, aren’t nearly as good as advertised. Last time I checked, Buffalo and Montreal had an equal amount of regulation wins. In summary, I wouldn’t bet the house on it, but it’s not nearly as daunting a task, as some seem to indicate.

Just an FYI, I still have two tickets available although they are posted so that could change at any minute.

Again, I’m not disagreeing with any of this. But if you trade him, you have to get someone that is the other teams best NHL ready prospect. Any first round pick outside the top five is five years away from being useful.

First, someone will give him a front loaded contract and the real money value of even a $13M front loaded deal will probably cover most, if not all of the loss total dollars. Second, he can sign with someone in a no tax state. Third, like you said, if he keeps up his level of play he will be able to make up for”total value” if that’s really a concern. If his play falls off so that he doesn’t warrant a new contract, the flip side is that Buffalo would likely buy out the last couple of years. That’s why everyone with leverage wants the money front loaded, to protect against buy out.

What’s with the blood clots with NHL and NBA players all of a sudden? Kulich is at least the third NHL player this year and I know that “Wem” and a few lessor players were diagnosed in the NBA last year. When Chris Bosh first had to retire due to them it seemed like an anomaly, now it seems rather common.

This is the right thing to do but man, this team needs some sort of spiritual cleansing.
