I was about to ask about Savage before I read the last sentence. Nice touch.

Any word on Artem Kryokov?

Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department
tom webster replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t think 31 other teams have a President and several of the ones that do were just playing musical chairs to keep a valued assistant GM. Titles aren’t important anyway. Having someone competent at the top, regardless of the title, is what matters. -
Sabres offseason changes (or lack there of) so far
tom webster replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I think it’s more that he wants the chance to be a #1 and expects to be paid accordingly. If he would sign for #3 money, they’d keep him. -
No one really believes PFF grades

You don’t really think the lack of production from receivers cost them that game? I understand where you are coming from but first, they acquired Palmer who was amongst the league leaders in separation, second, Shakir and Kincaid are among the leaders, third, you have to hope Coleman makes some strides although he wasn’t a great separator in college either but fourth, and most importantly, I’m sure he’d love to have a top receiver but you can’t have everything you want and it’s hard to argue with the success they’ve had as well as addressing an area that was far more problematic then receiver separation.
-
This isn’t actually true. Three of them were in the top fifteen in separation. You can Google it or maybe I will when I get around to it.

I don’t disagree. I believe you need to uncover some gems to be successful and sustainable. I also don’t put much stock in pro bowl selection. I just thought the stat was interesting and maybe a foretell that NFL scouting has gotten better in large part because of the information available. Of course, I could be reading way too much into it.🤷♂️

A stat I heard today that I think goes against the conventional wisdom of the importance of the later rounds. from 2021 till 2023, out of the 685 players drafted after the first round, only 20 have made a pro bowl. During that same time, 25 of the 95 players drafted in the first round have made at least one pro bowl. 20 out of 685 25 out of 95

I like some of these but as for the last one, I’d take a flyer on Zegras resurrecting his career but they can get a lot more for Byram. -
This is a pretty significant hire for the business side of things.

I’m your age, I remember Hextall. Think he ended up playing for the Penguins .

It’s funny, first thing I thought of when reading the original post was Guy Trottier.

100% agree with second paragraph

I actually think the trade for Norris was a good move. When I said not to count on him, I meant that his presence shouldn’t prevent you from acquiring another top center.
-
They can’t trade Norris when his value is low. The best they can do is not count on him and consider it a bonus if he remains healthy. I know we disagree on how much room they have to play with but they have options to acquire what they need without trading Norris.
-
I agree with all of this except I have no issues with the hiring of Ruff. Coaching interviews in the NHL are largely overrated, at least in my opinion. I think it is clear that, if, and it’s still not guaranteed, but if he gets another year, it would be his last chance.

I know I’m opening up myself for a beat down, but if you accept the premise that Kevyn Adams is a smart guy who was doing a pretty good job on the business side before being put in a position he wasn’t ready for, then you accept that he is someone who learns from his mistakes and has grown into his job. No other organization would have allowed him this much rope but I think there are signs, starting with the McLeod trade, that he might be ready to make the necessary changes. Time, of course, will be the only thing that can save me from the vitriol I am about to receive.

Sabres have done it! No longer last in Eastern Conference

I don’t think some people understand just how good Marner is. Besides being a great playmaker and play driver, he is elite defensively as well. -
Well I know the Patriots are 6-5. Id have to look up the Celtics and Red Sox. The Celtics I think started with an 8-0 run so that helps.
-
I know it seems like they’ve won more but the Bruins have only won one Cup since Jacobs bought them in 1975. Sorry, just realize that blue beat me to it.

I understand the sentiment but I’d take a first timer like Carle before some of the retreads out there.

Some of the leagues most successful coaches were hired as first timers, Jon Cooper leading the mix. I understand the sentiment but I know you know the answer. Anyone that driven yearns for a new challenge.
