I know coaching won't fix every issue that the Sabres have but there are quite a few examples over time where coaches come in and teams regress quickly and others are brought in (Berube in St. Louis, Trotz in NY) where a coaching change makes a MASSIVE difference. (Not saying this will have that same exact impact for the Sabres) To me this coaching change needs to fix a few things that are very important to the hopes that the Buffalo Sabres are brought back to relevance again and a playoff contender: 1. Rasmus Dahlin: Let's not forget he had 45 points as a rookie defenseman when he was 18. That skill does not just disappear into thin air. Put him in the best position for him to be the best defenseman he can be. Period. 2. Jeff Skinner: The contact is an albatross, but get this guy back to a 27-33 goal guy who is excellent 5X5 and is a Top 6 guy and we can 'live' with most of that salary. 3. Dylan Cozens: VERY important that the new coach puts DC in the right position to grow his game and take it to the next level like a lot of us expect. I know there are more but I feel these 3 really fall on the new coach that is brought in and are more important IMO. And you know what? It can't get any worse! Can it?

I would love to say you will be wrong but so much has changed at ESPN since they last aired the NHL. Let's see how this is handled and will not comment on that until we see what they do. -
Living out here in Southern California Im enjoying watching the Los Angeles Kings. Watch out for this team, an almost embarrassment of riches in the system, they are slowly building a monster and will be great sooner then later. Also, Anze Kopitar: Such an underappreciated great player, does so many little things that don't show on the stat sheets that most look at, is cementing his HOF credentials this season.

Friday 3/5: Adams to Speak to Media at 4:30

The tone and body language that Adams took when addressing Jack Eichel and if he asked for a trade to me made me feel he is a little uncomfortable with that question and answer. Not very confident in his response if you ask me. -

In a perfect world I would love to see that happen. But it all depends how Jack really feels about being here long term etc. -
Dylan Cozens Appreciation Thread

Watching and listening to Dylan Cozens puts me so much more at ease about thinking about the idea that the Sabres could/should trade Jack Eichel. Very confident in Cozens and his abilities and can easily see him as the face and leader of this franchise. Imagine what the Sabres could get for Eichel to build the pieces around Cozens. I am 100000000000 percent on board with this. -
Lose Lose Lose Fire Kreuger and call Claude Julien and see if he wants the gig and get it done

The 38 year old Mike Smith is now 6-0 with a sub 2.00 GAA and a .935+ SV%. If the Oilers keep finding this kind of goaltending, watch out

I agree that Skinner may not be doing what the coach is asking him to do, but my biggest issue with Kreuger is he seems to want to fit players into what he wants to do, and I find that the best coaches make their system work best for what they have. Skinner has 3 30+ goal season and 1 40 goal season, make something that brings out the best in Skinner. Based on this alone,I have lost a lot of love for Kreuger. -

'There is nothing that he will see from a press box that he hasn't seen for 600 games on the ice' 'Even Jeff Skinner playing well will not be a productive goal scorer with Curtis Lazar and Riley Sheahan' Best lines about Jeff Skinner from Yost. ALso I have to wonder if Terry has said something, he cant be pleased investing this much $ and looking this bad about it -

Rasmus Ristolainen Talks His Corona Virus Disease Course
Palm Trees And Taxes replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Maybe we have all been a little too hard on the Sabres this week given what they have been through with the COVID pause and illnesses affecting the team in several instances. This season so far has pretty much been a pointless exercise, and the Sabres have to be careful on how to assess certain players because of this. -
I agree with you. I think the biggest thing that Sabres management and fans need to realize is: Forget the generational talent talk with Dahlin. We need to answer can Dahlin be a legit top pairing defenseman in the NHL for years to come and produce say 50-60 point seasons, and not the 70-80 point seasons a lot of us dreamed about when Rasmus was drafted? And also, when Rasmus needs to be signed this off-season, what is the term and years we should give? I wouldn't give Dahlin 8 seasons, a 5 year bridge deal is the path I would choose.

Agree completely. Watching Florida/Carolina on NHL Network now and i hate to say it but Carolina looks like a legit SC contender. Necas very underrated player, Aho is a legit elite star in the making. Jordan Staal is so good too.
