They really should be splitting time 50/50 right now. This is pretty normal stuff from Hutton being put in the starting role full time despite not being a full time starting goalie.

It's absolutely a trash deal. Cogliano is basically used up and Dallas decided that used up Cogliano was better than Shore. Which speaks volumes about both team's opinion of Shore. Swapping depth players is reshuffling deck chairs for both teams.

Not disagreeing, but pointing out that I think it's difficult to predict which players are going to play "heavy" as they develop when you're drafting them as teenagers. Pretty much all NHL rookies seem to need time to really develop that NHL level physical game. Veteran players tend to "harden" themselves, but it does take some time. Even guys like Chara. I think this team's biggest problem with respect to physicality is that a lot of players simply haven't had the time to develop it yet. Look at how much tougher Risto is on the puck now? Or Girgensons? Reinhart and Eichel are arguably still more "perimeter" skill guys who aren't mucking every shift, but they do it more than they used to.

It was predictable though. It's why posts about "sensitive" topics like religion are confined to their own thread. At some point you have to know what content is going to feed the trolls. This one was obvious.

I don't think he'd rather protect Rochester. I think it's just the reality of the situation. There's nothing that taking guys, including coaches, from Rochester can really do to help the Sabres right now. So he's not going to do it. It doesn't make much sense.

Same. I think in his business life he was well protected by lawyers whenever he said or did weird stuff. He's continued operating the same way as President, completely oblivious to the fact that his lawyers wont be able to make his idiot decisions just "disappear".

It's both. Because firing Housley just to name some random guy interim isn't going to be productive. And neither would replacing him with Taylor. So any change is only ever going to happen in the off season.

This is why Phil wont be dropped until the off-season. If Botterill has Taylor penciled in as the replacement then he's not going to screw up the Americans success this year just to bail out the Sabres.

Pay attention to Ray's snark. It's important. He knows what's going on with the team and he tends to drop hints. He's pretty hard on them too for someone who works for the team. His game tips don't pull punches either, and there have been some doozies lately. Methinks he has some...opinions...about the state of things.

I suspect it's more of a situation where the goalies are on a set schedule and Phil isn't deviating from it.

I really haven't pushed much for Ullmark to start this year but I think he's looked good enough the last month to earn more work. I'm disappointed Phil doesn't seem to see it this way.
