  1. Annnnnnnd... part of the reason support for Sam might be soft is how absolutely joyless he is. Same with Jack. Risto twirled that stick that one time. What's the quote about people forget what you said and remember how you made them feel. These guys made a lot of fans feel empty.
  2. He's been among their best players? Sure. Where has he led the team? I understand it's not a sophisticated hockey argument. I won't blame any fan who never wants to see the three of them on a tandem bike with an extra seat again. The torture of all involved parties shouldn't continue.
  3. Great post. Truly. I love this kind of stuff, but the "fan fiction" is starting to make my head hurt. (Yes, I acknowledge it has been one of my stock-in-trades here.) There's just too much we don't know. I feel a little like Bulldog yesterday when he had to stop and admit on the radio he couldn't wrap his mind around a theory Hamilton was offering (but not endorsing): that Eichel's real motive was preventing the Sabres from trading him now so that his NMC would kick in before he can get traded). I'll admit that Jack's "wherever that may be" comment takes on a new light if Adams brought up the possibility of a trade. Then we're into jilted lover territory. Of course we don't know Kevyn said that. All we do know for sure is that a soft tap on the door interrupted the chat, and Kim peeked inside and asked Jack to join her and Terry in the janitor's closet. The sharp tapping of stiletto heels on the hard-floored hallway as she slinked away hastened Jack's pulse.
  4. Where has he led the team? Words are fun.
  5. "Sam Reinhart didn't reveal much and looked like he'd rather be eating lit cigarettes." —Elliotte Friedman
  6. Prospects... "of all kinds." Owner/GM/newbie coach/players. And I forgot to throw in future GM Karmanos.
  7. But the part about rolling logs pantsless was true, right?
  8. Let me digest that. I had a big carb load a bit ago, and it's 20 after three.
  9. So, wait. You're a young-ish Canadian from Winnipeg?
  10. I'm not shy about telling ink when he's been a very, very bad boy.
  11. To be clear, the request wasn't serious. I would hope everyone knows who the target of the joke was. Agreed. It has to be about winning at all costs from Day One. Create the template for the future. I was heartened to actually hear Don mention the W word a few times after he took over.
  12. I like the kids. I like Adams. I like Granato. Some will scoff, but my posting history speaks for itself — I like a lot of what Pegula has brought and can continue to bring as an owner. I almost feel like Jack finally popped that pimple, releasing a lot of pressure, and now healing can begin. But what's missing? Adams needs help. The kids need help. Granato needs help. And Terry, perhaps most of all, needs help. I think Granato is smart enough to bring in experienced assistants, ideally one of which has been a head coach at the NHL level (Lindy was never smart enough, but that's another story). I think Adams is smart enough to know that the old core needs to go and some of the return needs to be the right guys for this situation, guys who can mentor the kids. I tend to doubt that Terry is self-aware enough to realize he has a problem. The answer is obvious. Jim Rutherford as POHO. (If other impressive people are out there and available, subsitute them for Rutherford.) He'd sit squarely between TP and KA. He'd ask for ID if Terry ever tried to get in the GM's door. He'd help Kevyn build the right chemistry. I'm reasonably excited right now. I'd be over the moon if Rutherford signed up. I also need to hear confirmation that Adams actually did go to Florida to lay down the law with the Pegs.
  13. Did this get glossed over here? Adams stated several times that the rest/watch and wait period of about 12 weeks from time of injury will be up in late May/early June. It seems like the Sabres will either be proven right by then or Eichel will have a much bigger argument for surgery. They're kicking the can down the road, so to speak.
  14. Adam Beningi goes to bat for his female colleague.
  15. KA gives a little credence to dysfunction in the medical/performance/training staff. "I asked some tough questions."
  16. It's easy to root for him. What a spot for him to be in. He's either FDR or Truman. Truman's probably a better analogy. Of course the Sabres didn't just win a world championship.
  17. You're good. We're all jacked up right now.
  18. You missed the joke. It wasn't at your expense.
  19. The real disconnect is between the team and the fans/community. Strong statement.
  20. Exactly. It's what a certain someone here does. Sarcasm meters to warp 3!
  21. "You can be fooled thinking a young player is ready." Paraphrase. Interesting. Adams also called the idea of relying on the kids a "slippery slope."
