  1. I think we're doing the same thing. Except I'm hanging on the back of a City of Lackawanna garbage truck with one leg stuck out for balance.
  2. I think it's fair to say that the success of the Buffalo Sabres was not guaranteed in those early days. Punch near-miraculously got them to elite status in five years, and that was huge. But even in a good hockey town that had had the AHL Bisons, creating affinity for an expansion team was no small feat. H/t to Ted, Paul and Chuck Burris (TIL Paul was not the director at first) and others including Rick* of course. Dave Forman got the Aud roof raised. The rest is history. *Not sure how to estimate Rick's value in promoting the team in the very early days. He would have called only a few games his first season.
  3. This is quite the battle of wits.
  4. Interesting choice of words. Bandwagon to me is a pejorative term. You jump on one and you jump off. Anyway, enjoy. Don't forget to toot your own horn.
  5. Started at the end. Scrolled up until I saw DG. Will show myself out. But not before I do my best Lindy: joooooke.
  6. Words are tricky. "Dramatic" change from, say, this time three years ago? I don't feel it (probably because I don't yet buy into another word from your post: "turnaround.") On this date in 2020 Ralph's Sabres had just beaten the Leafs 5-2 at home for a third win in four games. They were 27-24-8 and 10 points out. I'm sure lots of fans were in the "it ain't over" camp. Or the dreaded "This bodes well for the fall." Ralph had those Sabres at 8-1-1, which was highly entertaining. And fool's blue and gold. Honestly, objectively, this franchise is still nowhere. No MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banners, please. But a little perspective on the "awful" RaKru.
  7. Now with more shenanigans!™
  8. Neither will I. I am being used as a portal or vesicle or something. I am over it.
  9. To me it's all about the vantage point. Put me up top. Too low and hockey in person makes as much sense as football.
  10. You will ignore my forecast for the Sharks?
  11. Again! That's three. Obv. this one was a reverse "we want 8" chant. It's gettin' scary.
  12. I love the filter. To be clear Joe is def. not dumb.
  13. 11.765. I dunno about this one. Obv. 11 could be referencing game 2 of the trip. It's anyone's guess. I'm sure it'll make sense later. As it always does.
  14. IOW young and full of *****.
  15. Haven't you figured it out yet? I thought you went off the air in 1976.
  16. Ducks fan: If you can't beat the Sabres...
  17. We're frickin' Don Paul. We tell people when to wear galoshes and have been spot on for over a decade. Show some respect.
  18. How lovely of the boys to start playing down by 4 or 5. Ever heard of score effect?
  19. They've achieved status and ridiculous millions without proving they can do what your rightly identify as the most important thing. The 85% thread is rattling around my head. The best players modulate their energy to step up at the right moment. Now through June. Our best guys probably spent their 100% to achieve their personal goal of that first huge contract in the NHL. What now? Unless they're extraordinary competitors, the future is still fraught with doubt. Who are these guys, really? There's no reason they should spitting out the bit now. Alas, checks are being marked off. Process. Improvement. Playing time. Contracts. It's still not about winning.
  20. Why should it even start? Why not throw your old lines out there? Not a bad bit of gamesmanship.
  21. No. They reveal tonight's final score. Though it does not specify a winner. I have tweaked the algorithm since Saturday's haunting 2-7 forecast.
