  1. Good win today. We've got to remain competitive (regardless of how you feel about the tank). Sure we need better players, but the culture cannot be changed by flipping a switch. We need to teach the young guys to compete every night this year. So next year, and the year after, the talent increases but the culture of competing and winning is already instilled.

Good thought. And maybe it explains the lack of a "system." What good are notebooks if you can't read?

  2. (Extends arm and hand in dramatic fashion out onto wind swept ledge)

"TAKE MY HAND! GRAB ONTO IT!"

Hell no! HELL NO! What's your temperature? SHOW ME THE THERMOMETER!

I love this line from the NHL.com recap:

"The Sabres had scored one goal over their previous four games before erupting for two in the third period."

    Erupting!

The Sabres erupted the way Fred Rogers erupted at his cue card man.

  3. It would not surprise me if that was there goal. But from a long term prespective it makes little sense. Having the next superstar in Carolina would result in an increase in attendance and fan interest, but would not have the same effect as if LeBron James decided to sign with Charlotte Bobcats in terms of sponsorship revenue. If McDavid is in a Canadian Market or playing for a team close to Canada, the values of those sponsorship deals increase immensely in terms of overall dollars to the NHL.

Fair deuce. Hopefully McDavid (and Eichel!) end up exactly where they belong.

  4. The worst records in the last 25 years, from here: http://www.hookedonh...bad-is-buffalo/

    1. 1992-1993 Ottawa Senators 10-70-4 – 24 points

    2. 1992-1993 San Jose Sharks – 11-71-2 – 24 points

    3. 1989-1990 Quebec Nordiques- 12-61-7 – 31 points

    4. 1993-1994 – Ottawa Senators – 14-61-9 – 37 points

    5. 1999-2000 Atlanta Thrashers – 14-57-7-4 – 39 points

    6. 1991-1992 San Jose Sharks – 17-58-5 – 39 points

    7. 1995-1996 Ottawa Senators 18-59-5 – 41 points

    8. 1997-1998 Tampa Bay Lightning – 17-55-10 – 44 points

    9. 1990-1991 Quebec Nordiques 16-50-14 – 46 points

    10. 1998-1999 Tampa Bay Lightning – 19-54-9 – 47 points

not a huge endorsement of tanking.

  5. Yeah I think Flynn was just playing Ennis' role in practice. The diminutive one will be in Flynn's place during the game.

By cynic you mean paranoid conspiracy theorist

With an agenda, in a tinfoil hat, with a hatchet, in the man cave.

This is the part that pisses me off. You go all last year sucking ass to get in position to draft Reinhart. The kid has 9 games and you bury him on the 4th line. If he is that bad just send him back now.

Different GM, different coach - same ludicrous decisions. When the f will they learn??

Maybe it tells you who is wielding power in this "flat management structure."

  6. Last year I was Casey Jones, since I had a bunch of hockey equipment laying around, including the old-school mask. It's my easy go-to. Or a pin up girl because it's really simple to throw together last minute. I have way too many vintage-y looking dresses.

This year I'm going to attempt being a crafty person (I am not at all) and be a crow. Why a crow? Again, kinda simple, just all black with a black wig and such and then the wings. I'm making them out of felt, will have loops that will attach to my wrists/arms. I'll cut it so there's feathers and a tail, and then I'll paint the delineations on.

Kinda like this but a crow. I saw it said, hey that's kinda cool and not typical girl halloween costume, and I could paint it easy. 63ROSfQ.jpg

Costume party at work, I'm sure I'll be the lamest there. My coworkers sometimes go all out. Sometimes.

Also.... Any excuse to embarrass d4rk. This is an example of our last minute costumes. Pin up and washed up hockey hack. That's a wig on him I swear. eZ4d8wh.jpg

Arrrrrrr, d4rk looks downright scurvy. Could use some Vitamin C! Look like Vitamin D is not a problem. Heyoooo.

  7. Isles stepped up and played a nice game in Boston. But they lose another player to injury, Josh Bailey broken hand. Johnson played well and could beat out Halak eventually for the starting spot. Imagine them with good goaltending. The weird thing about the Isles is how they fall apart with the lead late in games. They were absolutely under siege late in this one.

    That link is dead ........

    So is Harry Caray.

  8. Lone gunman. Not "numerous shooters." Shocker.

I'm sure I'll be out on a limb with this, but maybe when things like this happen the response of a society should be more matter of fact. How many crazies out there are spurred on by the attention that an act of violence can generate? There's also just the slightest whiff of public relations and marketing in the air at times like this.

  9. Now Halifax is on lock down with stories of another crazy wandering around downtown with a rifle. Story not confirmed. Hopefully they have shut down the ferry service between Halifax and Dartmouth ... I work on the Dartmouth side of the harbour and we do not need any more crazies on this side.

Yesterday our entire military presence (Halifax is a major military town) was put on high alert and our Atlantic Fleet ( :w00t: ) put out to sea ... all the ships that were sea worthy that is. Wholly over reaction Batman.

Not exactly sure where / what my complain is, but ...

Well hopefully Canada keeps its wits about it and doesn't turn into America North.
