  1. Do what you know is best. This is the time to lay down our arms and rest for a brighter future, a future where we can pillage, rape and eat the flesh of babies with the type of savagery never before seen in these lands.

Just the flesh? The eyeballs are good as an antipasto.

  2. Pegula should have fired marrone and Hackett after the game. They aren't good.

Owners shouldn't fire coaches — or say they ain't going anywhere. Owners fire presidents or GMs.

Wicked "Terry" chant at the beginning, and someone from our section (338) got a paper airplane made from the "One Buffalo" cards onto the field during a play, it was spectacular.

Good. Bills fans can have him. Hopefully he's tired of his hockey toy and now the Sabres can enjoy a period where good hockey people are in charge and the owner isn't hanging around during the summer eating Goobers and Pretzeldoodydoos.

  3. Hopefully Connor McDavid and the other guy everyone is on the nuts of both turn out to have awful careers.

Teams shouldn't be rewarded for being disasters. Ever.

You cannot foster a winning culture by encouraging and celebrating a losing one.

Of course, I shouldn't expect anything else from Buffalo sports fans.

Jeez, can we get off the subject of nuts. It's Sunday.

What happened: Myers gets a sack tap. Myers punches the ###### out of Shaw. Shaw is down for a bit because he got the ###### punched out of him. Myers goes to the box.

What game over wanted: Shaw sack taps Myers. Myers slits Shaw's throat, uses his blood as lube to destroy his ass and then makes a blood angel on the ice. Then McCormick visits Shaw in the hospital and cuts off his oxygen.

    I like Angry Tank.

  4. I don't think I'm overreaching when I say that we're all eager to challenge eachother here, usually respectfully. At the end of the day, we're all on the same team. Try not to automatically associate the day-to-day heat with hate.*

I think in Tank's case, he told us enough about his life to put a big target on his back: young, in college, studying journalism or mass com, hoping to work in the media. He'll probably look back on this as just part of his education. I like to think this board hardened him up a bit (shut up, you pervs). Anyone working in the field he's entering, especially if he gets on air, has to be ready for legitimate criticisms and even the unfair potshots.

P.S. What happened to Tank's fellow Oleaner who had the Bills and Sabres site? Handle is escapng me right now. Another good young poster.

  5. I was talking with a fellow the other day, and by pure happenstance he used to work and travel with my late dad. He told me how my dad would go back to his hotel room after dinner while the rest of the guys went to a bar. The next morning, the man recalled, my dad would just smile at them as they endured hangovers. Not that I expected to hear that my dad was a lush — he rarely drank and once got tipsy on half a glass of some horrible wine at a Pizza Hut up by Erie and my mom thought she'd have to drive us home, which would truly have been disastrous — but it was nice to not have my image of the man tainted. Maybe he was a square, but he was also a solid family man. What was beyond nice, awesome actually, was this out of nowhere and lovely and totally familiar image of my dad through the eyes of another.

  6. Who cares? He has nothing to do with the players/coaches on the field.

That's a copout answer. No one — no one — who had a signficant hand in driving this once-proud (hi Tank) franchise into a ditch should survive. The optics of the situation should not elude Terry again. Now, it was AP that reported that Terry would retain Brandon, and other media outlets are saying Terry was non commital. Brandon=Quinn, no?

  7. I had seen that, but I'm never sure about "facts" on reddit. I've since done a little more digging, and it looks like the reddit folks are correct. The site operates somewhere (no one seems to know where) that the NHL can't find or reach. Which has shadiness written all over it. I don't want to fry my computer.

Did you really think it was on the up and up?

  8. PA, you know why an owner does things to qualify for revenue sharing when he doesn't have to? This is why.

Keep the league happy and the owners happy and you build a case for MFT status. I honestly believe this has been part of Pegs goal. Not the all star game, per se, but the game is def part of becoming a MFT for the league.

Timing of the game is interesting. Ought to be right about when things are firing on all cylinders.

Not buying it. Aren't the Leafs "favored"? How it's working out for them? But at least you're trying harder than most people on here to logically pump Pegula's tires.

  9. That makes sense based on their past sizing trends. They updated them for this year and you'd probably be a 10 now.

Is it a Bauer Vapor boot? That will matter when talking about widths and fit.

For reference, my foot measurement is 11.5" by 4" and I wear a 10EE, so you should definitely be in a wide in the Bauer Vapor boot if you're over that 4" mark.

Yep, Vapor. The very sexy X-50.

Hey you might have a future at hockey carnivals guessing people's skates.

  10. If you have ANY doubt that your skates were sized wrong, you should stop in at the Pure Hockey which is a block over from Great Skate. Ask them to size you. They should have you stand on this CCM Footsizer contraption and gauge your fit.

What Make/Model/Size did they end up putting you in at Great Skate? I'll bet it was a Bauer Vapor in a...10D?

    9D.

  11. Never did take those lessons (yet). Shocker. (And I never got my Sabres tat.)

Getting ready for a new skating season. My goal is to finally progress from one footed snow plow stops to real hockey stops, learn crossovers, start to seriously skate backwards and take some steps toward actually playing hockey or some reasonable facsimile thereof.

    Reevaluating things:

Tying skates. I kept having to stop to retie my skates after they started feeling loose at the top. I found this trick. 1:15 in the video: youtube.com/watch?v=gEDw1I4XwQI

And I think I need wides. Using the instructions in the video here youtube.com/watch?v=bTSD7KnoxgU, I traced my feet on a piece of paper and did the calculations. I'm 11 inches long and 4.25 inches wide. That seems to argue for a wide. I also took out the foot bed and stood on it and noticed that I was over the edges in one spot, just below the first joints of the toes.

I got the skates at Great Skate. Their return policy is cash in the first 30 days and exchange "after 30 days." Are they really going to let me get new skates after almost a year? If so, great. If not, I would think it would matter if someone screwed up the sizing. I didn't feel like I was given much attention. As for not exchanging them before now, some days they felt OK, most of the time I felt like something was off, but as a newbie I wasn't sure if the discomfort was just part of the learning process. They're definitely tight in that one area, when putting on and taking off. When skating I often felt squeezed, albeit not terribly, and my feet would cramp up at first.

Age-old hockey tradition: blame the equipment!

  12. Public address annoucement of Girgenson's goal comes at the ensuing faceoff. Unheard of in Buffalo. And it's great. It keeps the crowd going after the goal for a few more seconds. And it demonstrates competence. That, and the new PA guy — it warms my cockles.

I also think Dunleavy sounds better. The goal call was great. It's got to be tough to not "get the reps" as the primary play by play guy. He's been put in a very tough spot in Buffalo. Hey, I'm willing to give him a second listen.

  13. He's still butt hurt about having his weewee slapped over his thread hijacking because he thinks the time and place for something is everywhere and all the time. So now he's going to be the Tankist Al Sharpton. Noble defender of making the forum unreadable!

I don't even remember getting my butt hurt and my wee wee slapped. You'd think I would.

My point remains that you can't put that fine a point on what is discussed on a Sabres board. You can't discuss tanking during a game? Fine. Only comments directly related to the game are allowed. Got a beef with Regier when Stafford sucks up the joint again? Shuttie.

  14. It's not an edict but rather a proposed gentlemen's agreement with the aim of not hindering other Sabres' fans enjoyment of the board by cluttering threads with the same arguments rehashed ad nauseum. You might want to consider it yourself the next time you come up with more meddling "evidence".

Meh. The same arguments rehashed ad nauseam is the basis of message boards. Hey, I showed great restraint by not commenting on Yuri's assertion that Pegula's Black River Entertainment Whatever is named after a gas play in New York. That was pretty juicy. Again — there is an ignore feature. If my comments about Pegula bother you that much, ignore. But you don't. And you won't. You can't. Thus, I am merely adding to your enjoyment of the board. You're welcome.
