My mother-in-law says that anytime you see a cardinal it's some dead relative stopping by. They're the state bird here in NC. The next time she visits, she's going to be so creeped out by the bird feeder I just put in. edit: And shortly after typing this, I look out my window and see 3 of them.

And these studies probably don't even apply to Bear. They're based on adult NHL players and we're talking about an injury in a still growing teenager. He's outside of the scope of that work.

Taro Tsujimoto as the Director of Playoff Chances.

All I can think is “we want guys who want to be here”. It’s a fool proof approach.

I would have created a brand new position for Patrik Berglund titled the Vice President of Seeing it Through.

If they actually operate like that, they’ll be joining us in the long term playoff drought bus.

I think any other sport probably could have gotten away with it. But since ice is involved, they can claim confusion.

Yeah. What I had originally heard is that their copyright also includes using that name on clothing. A hockey team is going to put its name on a lot of clothing. They couldn’t work out a deal.

Eric Staal hired as a special assistant to Kevyn Adams

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the vast majority of the fanbase has no clue who they are. Hedican maybe, but no chance in hell on LaRose. -
They ran into legal issues with the water bottle company and couldn't use the name yeti. They did want it.

There are things called private messages. Sometimes those are better. And I'm only responding to you since you are the most recent post in this exchange.

Yeah, but they’re not going to reference something that isn’t theirs. Then the real fun begins if Phoenix somehow miraculously gets back into the game.

Brett Hull didn’t do anything wrong. Go ask most sabre fans over the age of 40 what they think about him. This whole thing is completely natural and you’ll find something similar with just about any fanbase out there. -

It's because of the team they beat/injured. That was the one people thought would win it all. It definitely means a lot more to the people who lived there at that time. I wasn't here at that point, but the fans here do definitely hold a grudge against us even still. -
They don't own anything from that organization though, do they? Well, except their entire organizational structure, but don't get me started on that.

I like that mountain mammoth logo.

Who didn't see this one coming once they couldn't use yeti?

What, were they not a fan of his trade deadline moves?

So you’re saying that you don’t like a system that is anti-tank but still leaves in a bit of pro-tank protection by only allowing the bottom 10 teams to have a shot at the first pick? It’s a cowardly setup. If you feel the need to create a weighted lottery (which I hate, by the way), have all of the teams involved playing for the same prize.
-
I guess it doesn’t matter too much, but I feel like Utah should have moved up one less spot since they didn’t win the first draw. I guess they can’t set it up that way because it could lead to a scenario where both winners are supposed to move up to the same spot (15 wins and moves up to 5, 14 then wins and would also go up to 5th).
-
Did Utah jump a full 10 spots by winning the second drawing or did they jump 9? It feels strange that the prize for them would be identical whether they win the first or the second drawing. And actually, this has me wondering about a different scenario. What if it had been reversed, Utah wins the first drawing and the Islanders the second. Does NYI wind up with 1 overall in that scenario?
-
Ahhh, so that's one specific team winning the big lottery. I didn't think of that possibility.

Where is that 0.2 for 3rd coming from?

Another goalie dump 30-some years down the road like they had a couple years back with Barrasso and Vernon I guess. They had cups though, which unfortunately we all know they put a lot of weight on. Lundqvist did get in that year too without a cup. He had a much better career though. I guess Miller will have to hope that a bunch of new stud goalies show up in the near future.
