  1. Wouldn't it be something if Point ties Leach's record of goals in 10 consecutive playoff games & wins the Conn Smythe like Reggie did, but yet he suffers the same fate of losing to the Habs in the Finals?
  2. And would look excellent as the 2C behind Eichel. Alas, what could've friggin' been.
  3. Yep, the top leagues are their own worst enemies.
  4. Larry Quinn was, is, & in all likelihood forever shall be a self-centered ###### nozzle. He earned the image he has, regardless of how supporters of his may try to put a shine on that steaming pile. Suppose Larry Playfair begged him & Seymour IV to play in the old timers game they held in the Aud around the time ground was broken on the MMArena as well?
  5. 😆 Don't know about that. You think people are ready to accept the Sabres changing their colors again after so recently from finally getting them right with royal blue & gold. Somehow blue & corn just doesn't seem quite right. 😉
  6. But they didn't really go to the "video scouting" as their official methodology until ~2007. And it was really controversial when they announced that was the plan moving forward.
  7. Presumably Lehner gets the net in game 6. Should the Habs pull this off, there's going to be ridiculous levels of second guessing the decision to go back to Fleury for game 5. (And, yes, overall he played well, but that 1st 1 was soft and that was the one that really mattered.)
  8. Haven't finalized the list of 'yes's, but a hard 'no' to Halak & Andersen. Halak wanted nothing to do with the Sabres in the past, so F him. Have always liked that Andersen was the Loafs #1. So, that's a hard no here.
  9. One of the, if not the, best sig here.
  10. PtR, immediately thought of that SNL commercial, as soon as seeing that other post. "Perfect."
  11. RIP Mr. Robert. Have fun w/ Rico.
  12. Not to speak for Perreault, he can do that himself, but the argument isn't Power is big, it's that he can be a 25 minute top pairing shutdown guy who can also be effective as a 2 way guy though hie'll be much better in his own end than the other end like Weber or, to keep a Sabres perspective on it, Mike Ramsey. (Not saying he necessarily can be that, nor that my preference is for Power, it isn't, am leaning towards Beniers.) You seem to believe people like Power strictly for his size. That doesn't seem to be the case. And to have a legit defensive minded top pairing guy to go with what we still expect to become a legit top pairing offensive guy would give the Sabres something special. IF he can become that, there's merit to selecting him. Don't know if he can, but also don't study the prospects. The Sabres have never had a TRUE #1 D-man (Ramsey & Schoeny were the closest on an extended basis, Zhitnik IMHO was a true #2 (like Seabrook, though he never had a Keith to work with), & Tallinder was a 1 at the end of '06 & into the playoffs (though never prior nor since). There is something enticing about the possibility of having 2 of them or at minimum 2 #2's (something else they've never had at the same time as Ramsey was still developing while Schoeny was in his prime).
  13. Was kind of referring to the whole package that came w/ Seiling. He was a very good player (at least until he was almost blinded in 1 eye) but was never Bossy and a lot of fans never forgave HIM for having been the pick that could've been Bossy. (Like he had any say in where/ when he was drafted.) And, the Sabres could've done worse, but at least 1 of those other 3 players & possibly all 3 will likely end up better than Quinn & he'll likely be a whipping boy because of it when any ire should be directed towards Adams & not the player.
  14. The good news from an Aisles perspective is that Vasilevski has gotten a SO in each of Tampa's last win of the past 3 series they were in, so Trotz can use that to say his boys have games 6 & 7 in the bag. Will be interesting to see if Barzal is available for game 6. If not, Trotz can use that to his advantage as well in summoning yet another gear for his squad to ramp up. He has to find something, because Tampa smells blood.
  15. Hope so, too. He very likely will be a very good player. But there were 2 guys that could very well be great players & that 3rd who will likely be very good at a role the Sabres don't really seem able to fill for the foreseeable future. He has an excellent chance of being this generation's Ric Seiling.
  16. IF the Sabres kept the right core of scouts they could do well this draft. The Peterka pick is encouraging that they do have the right core but that Quinn pick is equally confounding. It's just more angst piled on the past decade that the Sabres bottom out AGAIN this time in the year that the draft is the most unstable in at least 2 decades, if not 3, & the Sabres have a skeleton crew in the scouting department to make the questions as to whether they have enough scouts to accurately assess the talent legitimate. Hoping that they've really focused their efforts on the top of the draft & plan on going with some sort of analytics formula to throw darts in rounds 4-7 (maybe even starting at round 3). If they tried to have an expert eye on the full board, they probably stretched themselves too thin & will #### the whole thing up.
  17. Based on everything that's been written, it seems that, yes, Adams is waiting to talk to Lambert to finish this search. But that Granato will be the one getting the job at the end of the day.
  18. Kind of torn on this as a few players in less than a handful of sports make a ton of money for their schools & the NCAA and they DO deserve to get a piece of that. But the vast majority of sports & students within their sports do not make money for those organizations but rather cost them money. Take money out of the pie for the handful of athletes that do generate money & it'll likely come at the expense of those other sports. And many more college athletes will lose out because of this. On a slightly different note, it'll also be interesting to see what, if any, lawsuits end up arising out of Title IX and other such programs when the system(s) rising up out of the old one's ashes do arise, as really doubt nearly as many female athletes are in college sports that do earn money as there are male athletes.
  19. Probably for 2 reasons: 1. Carlson was completely incompetent & Travis was the defacto radio station General manager. 2. It was funnier having Andy being "cold" to broadcasting the couple of times he filled in.
  20. My expectation is Eichel & Ristolainen are gone & Reinhart is likely as well. Am also expecting Granato is retained. Take that for what it's worth, which isn't much. Since COVID hit, haven't had nearly the same access to info as in the past. @Brawndo is the one w/ solid sources & @tom webster as well. Most of my info has been pushed back at least 1 level on 1st hand/ 2nd hand / etc.
  21. We're on the same page there. Give Bryson the 1st crack at Jokiharju's partner & give Samuelson a shot as well if the 1st pairing doesn't work.
  22. Even when they weren't "neutered" Dahlin-Jokiharju was not good in their own end. They were very good at the other end, and many seem to be ok with their play in their own end because of how the played in the attack zone. Personally, would rather have Borgen with Dahlin as the slight drop off which MIGHT occur in Dahlin's offensive escapades is more than made up for by no longer being a defensive liability. And really don't see where Jokiharju was a key for Dahlin being good in the offensive zone; but he definitely contributed to the issues at the other end.
  23. Wow, Tage has his very own day? Cool beans.
  24. This is what is so ####ing frustrating about this off-season, expecting everything to blow up. Bring McCabe back and keep him paired with Ristolainen (after he finally heals up). That was their best pairing last year. (Realize it's not a popular opinion, but they were. For large stretched Dahkin - Jokiharju was a disaster in waiting in their own end.)Bring in a 4 quality D to fill McCabe role until he's ready to return. The D becomes McCabe - Ristolainen Dahlin- Borgen Bryson/Samuelson/New Guy - Jokiharju. (Maybe "new guy" is Pilut?) w/ 2 of those the 7&8 after McCabe healthy. Bring in Daneault and keep Eichel & Reinhart. Ideally bring in a 4C to put Eakin on the bench. Bring Sheahan back as the 13th guy / fill in w/ injuries in the bottom 1/2 of the lineup. The forwards become: Olofsson - Eichel - Cozens/Reinhart Skinner - Daneault - Reinhart/ Cozens Asplund - Mittelstadt - Thompson/ Ruotsalainen Girgensons - 4C - Okposo Some combo of Eakin / Sheahan / R2 / Okposo as the spares. Bring back Ullmark & add a guy at least as good as him. Get the coach right & it gets them d*mn close to a playoff spot w/ no growth at all from any of the kids. (IMHO, that lineup should be in but it's a stacked division, so no promises.) And that lineup can handle the inevitable 6-10 games of Eichel out via injury & 10 games of Ullmark's inavailability, as a in IMHO.
