  1. No, but they very likely were smaller, younger guys that were just barely hanging onto the NHL dream. No idea who it was, but they had a former #7 OA pick 5-ish years removed from his draft getting into only 6 games that year and another small-ish guy still mid-20's only get into 3 games. These are the sorts that PREDATORS look for. Again, no idea who the video coach was targeting, should the accusations turn out to have been credible, but those are in the profile of who he'd be likely targeting.
  2. Until getting injured late in the shortened season he was on pace for over 100 points playing on a team that in general couldn't score in (choose your favorite brothel & blow analogy to go here). How was that a sign his heart was never really into it? This next statement is not directed at you, but merely is a general comment: it tends to get annoying to have so many people base their opinion of Eichel on his play & perceived attitude upon how he handled playing through multiple injuries on a squad where the 2C checked out by the 3rd period of the 2nd game & where the guy that started in net on opening night is BARELY still NHL quality. Sorry. /rant
  3. Would say it isn't specific enough. If one isn't continually (or nearly continually) learning then even the job you described above is "work." IMHO. YMMV.
  4. To say Gallant 'didn't get the job done in Vegas' is setting yourself up to say only 1 coach (out of soon to be 32) gets the job done any given year. While the GOAL of all coaches is the win the Stanley Cup, the JOB is to get the optimal performance out of the team he has. Really hard to agree that a coach that took an expansion club to the Finals didn't get the job done. Gallant has gotten maximal results consistently. Trotz 'didn't get the job done' either this year, or last, or any other year except 1. But will take him in a heartbeat over whomever Adams does choose at this point. (And Perreault wanted Dudley as GM or Senior Advisor/ PoHO, aka the Lamiorello role, but not to be the coach.)
  5. Paul Hamilton, who acts like an arse every time he interviews Reinhart & a few others, has done pbp on a very limited basis & by most all accounts did well at it. Doubt the Sabres players would stand for him replacing RJ &/or Dunleavy. Mike Harrington, who generally acts like an arse, has not done pbp ttbomk.
  6. Moe-ray-all was in the Norris the 1st 7 years after they expanded to 4 divisions. Sabres were always in the Adams with the B's, at least until they started renaming the divisions. Surprised the Habs were given the Campbell Bowl as could've sworn there was an article that neither it nor the Prince of Wales was going to be awarded this year with no set conferences. Cool that they handed it out.
  7. Depends. How many does he need to make to break someone else? Guessing it'll be 1 more than that.
  8. To the bolded, really hope that isn't the case because his death will have been completely avoidable at this time. That would be truly tragic.
  9. Wouldn't it be something if Point ties Leach's record of goals in 10 consecutive playoff games & wins the Conn Smythe like Reggie did, but yet he suffers the same fate of losing to the Habs in the Finals?
  10. And would look excellent as the 2C behind Eichel. Alas, what could've friggin' been.
  11. Yep, the top leagues are their own worst enemies.
  12. Larry Quinn was, is, & in all likelihood forever shall be a self-centered ###### nozzle. He earned the image he has, regardless of how supporters of his may try to put a shine on that steaming pile. Suppose Larry Playfair begged him & Seymour IV to play in the old timers game they held in the Aud around the time ground was broken on the MMArena as well?
  13. 😆 Don't know about that. You think people are ready to accept the Sabres changing their colors again after so recently from finally getting them right with royal blue & gold. Somehow blue & corn just doesn't seem quite right. 😉
  14. But they didn't really go to the "video scouting" as their official methodology until ~2007. And it was really controversial when they announced that was the plan moving forward.
  15. Presumably Lehner gets the net in game 6. Should the Habs pull this off, there's going to be ridiculous levels of second guessing the decision to go back to Fleury for game 5. (And, yes, overall he played well, but that 1st 1 was soft and that was the one that really mattered.)
  16. Haven't finalized the list of 'yes's, but a hard 'no' to Halak & Andersen. Halak wanted nothing to do with the Sabres in the past, so F him. Have always liked that Andersen was the Loafs #1. So, that's a hard no here.
  17. One of the, if not the, best sig here.
  18. PtR, immediately thought of that SNL commercial, as soon as seeing that other post. "Perfect."
  19. RIP Mr. Robert. Have fun w/ Rico.
  20. Not to speak for Perreault, he can do that himself, but the argument isn't Power is big, it's that he can be a 25 minute top pairing shutdown guy who can also be effective as a 2 way guy though hie'll be much better in his own end than the other end like Weber or, to keep a Sabres perspective on it, Mike Ramsey. (Not saying he necessarily can be that, nor that my preference is for Power, it isn't, am leaning towards Beniers.) You seem to believe people like Power strictly for his size. That doesn't seem to be the case. And to have a legit defensive minded top pairing guy to go with what we still expect to become a legit top pairing offensive guy would give the Sabres something special. IF he can become that, there's merit to selecting him. Don't know if he can, but also don't study the prospects. The Sabres have never had a TRUE #1 D-man (Ramsey & Schoeny were the closest on an extended basis, Zhitnik IMHO was a true #2 (like Seabrook, though he never had a Keith to work with), & Tallinder was a 1 at the end of '06 & into the playoffs (though never prior nor since). There is something enticing about the possibility of having 2 of them or at minimum 2 #2's (something else they've never had at the same time as Ramsey was still developing while Schoeny was in his prime).
  21. Was kind of referring to the whole package that came w/ Seiling. He was a very good player (at least until he was almost blinded in 1 eye) but was never Bossy and a lot of fans never forgave HIM for having been the pick that could've been Bossy. (Like he had any say in where/ when he was drafted.) And, the Sabres could've done worse, but at least 1 of those other 3 players & possibly all 3 will likely end up better than Quinn & he'll likely be a whipping boy because of it when any ire should be directed towards Adams & not the player.
  22. The good news from an Aisles perspective is that Vasilevski has gotten a SO in each of Tampa's last win of the past 3 series they were in, so Trotz can use that to say his boys have games 6 & 7 in the bag. Will be interesting to see if Barzal is available for game 6. If not, Trotz can use that to his advantage as well in summoning yet another gear for his squad to ramp up. He has to find something, because Tampa smells blood.
  23. Hope so, too. He very likely will be a very good player. But there were 2 guys that could very well be great players & that 3rd who will likely be very good at a role the Sabres don't really seem able to fill for the foreseeable future. He has an excellent chance of being this generation's Ric Seiling.
