Expect that they do/will have a core, just really hard to say who that is at present as team cores usually consist of 3-4 forwards, 1-2 D & a goalie. The core F's will almost definitely include Tuch, but which other 3 will be those key building blocks that like him we just can't imagine seeing management let end up in another uniform is still in the air. Would expect that to be 3 out of Mittelstadt, Cozens, Krebs, Quinn, Peterka, & their top pick this year. The core D likely will be Dahlin & Power, but if Nemec or Jiricek are the top pick maybe this is a Nashville style core & he fits in there w/ Johnson &/or Samuelsson there as well. The core goalie? Any of Levi, Portillo, or UPL could be THE guy w/ the odds likely in that order. That right now they have ~12 pieces of that 6 player core brings up the old football saying: if you have 2 (or 3) starting QB's, you don't have a starting QB. 😉

To the bolded, absolutely. But the team is actually aware of that and IS attempting to address that. How successful that effort ends up remains to be seen, but they are working on it.

You didn't state something to the effect of "that's cool, it'd be cooler if they do some sort of Ra-cha-cha centric menu too;" but rather you stated in effect that "they shouldn't do this unless they create a Ra-cha-cha centric menu." There has to be at least 30 friggin' places in Ra-cha-cha that can do a good garbage plate. Wtf should the Bar-Bill join that chase? Bar-Bill's wings will put to shame any but my own here. And their beef on weck, while not Schwabl's, is top notch as well.

Why would you delete the thread? Removing it won't change the fact that the team played arguably its worst game of the season. The combination of still getting the new coach "freshness" along with playing in front of fans in their own building for the 1st time in well over a month combined with the Sabres leader out with some illness (the flu?) set up for a truly awful outing. But, is what it is. Hopefully St. Louis doesn't embarrass them twice in a row. 😉

And pretty much the entirety of the Sabres broadcast crew is at Rich Stadium at present. They probably have a technician or 2 there to help w/ coordinating their broadcast off the Habs feed but most of the crew doesn't travel this year.

Well, the bad news - the game hasn't been remotely as close as the score indicates. The good news - the Habs totally slept walked through the 3rd in their game vs the Loafs and it's likely the Habs only have 10 forwards the rest of the way. Have to score the next goal.

Really hope they don't trade him. Teams need SOME seasoned vets that aren't washed up and can actually contribute. If he's gone, the ONLY true vets on the team that meet that description are the often injured Girgensons and, if they survive the trade deadline, the too old & lately showing his years Anderson & Pysyk. Wouldn't really put Hagg or Eakin in that class & Miller likely won't last the trade deadline either. Skinner & Tuch are vets, but not really what would be considered "seasoned" IMHO. YMMV. That's moving into scary young territory should Okie be gone.

And Skinner's deal actually is bizarrely beneficial this season as it and the Boychuk deal get the Sabres to the cap floor. It'll almost definitely help in that regard the next 2 years and possibly even the next 3 years. The last seasons are likely the only ones where it caused a tangible effect on the lineup. And it won't likely cause any tangible effects until at least the summer of '24. And even that might be mitigated if the cap is rising again. Plus, Botterill walked 1 of the bridges right into the Summer of COVID. Literally just dumb bad luck, but not as sure that Adams could do a proper extension w/ Sam that summer with all the uncertainty about the owners' cash flows. Maybe it could've gotten done, but a LT deal that summer would've been tough for ownership to swallow MHO. BUT if Reinhart were signed for the same term as Eichel, does Jack bring his concerns to Adams/ownership upon Kevyn's hiring? Likely not because he knows they aren't going to willingly walk away from both Tankfruits coming out of COVID. Adams' calculus might change as well knowing that if he does trade Eichel, now Sam needs to go as well. It definitely changes the dynamics at a minimum. And that's just looking at differences under Adams. Likely things are different under Botterill as well.

This'll be the game to either get St. Louis over 0.500 or back under with the rest of his crew. The Sabres usually matchup well w/ the Habs, so looking for that W for the boys in white w/ blue & gold trim. From yesterday's practice report seems there's a good chance Dahlin is back. Rare for the good guys to pitch 2 stinkers in a row (by quality of play, not results, clearly by results 2 in a row (or 4 as the case would be) is all too common), so those should let us see a good effort. Can Tokarski play like the pre-COVID suffering Toker? That's the big Q. If he can, should be the start of a 1 game winning streak.
