  1. Since the 1st of January, Anderson in games against teams below the Sabres in the Standings Otters - L Phlyers - L Chicago - OTL BJ's - L Stop playing him against the cruddy teams. He's supposed to guarantee the win against them, but he's a big part of the problem against them. He gave up a goal a minute into the Otter game setting the tone. Gave up a goal 2 mintues in setting the tone in the Filly game. Gave up a goal 1 minute into the 3rd giving a horrible team a reason to not quit and the team wasted another point against the Hawks. Lyubushkin set a screen against him on the 1st goal last night, but he probably should've had that and he definitely should've had the 2nd goal. Yes, he played great in the 1st against Dallas and was the biggest reason why they won that game. Yes, he played very well against the Swamp Cats as well. But against the bottom feeders he is not providing that timely save the team needs to get past whatever mental block they have when playing them. And, IMHO his play is causing part of that mental block. (Note, said part, not in any way is he entirely responsible for that.) Though his best play is better than either UPL or Comrie, he doesn't bring that every game. They should be in a 3 man rotation until somebody takes control of the crease or until Levi is available, whichever comes first. All 3 goalies have major flaws and though everybody here has their whipping boy not one of these guys deserves the support their adherents give to them.
  2. Still believe that while Adams would like to see the team in the playoffs, he doesn't see getting playoff experience this year as being critical to success next season. That Canes team that won the Cup was the worst team in the league 3 years prior, about 5th worst 2 years prior, and didn't play at all the season before winning. Personally, agree that making the playoffs would be a huge step for this team. And it should be the goal for this team at this time.
  3. Guess those Hall style "you may trade me to X and only X" conditions really do yutz up the return. Was hoping it would cost the Rags more than just that to rent Citizen Kane.
  4. He is still on the roster but under a separate designation while on waivers. He isn't available to the parent nor farm club while on waivers and he doesn't count against any roster limits while on waivers.
  5. Houser was signed and waived. He had no effect on the 23 man roster.
  6. Larry Pilut waives from his seat in the corner. ;)
  7. Nowhere near as worried about this as you are. Hopefully we get a chance to see who's right. Nowhere near as worried about this as you are. Hopefully we get a chance to see who's right.
  8. They go away on deadline day.
  9. If a trade happens on Friday not one single player has to be waived to make room for him on the active roster.
  10. 2 things. 1 - a fair portion of the STH base are people with only 1/2 season packages so there will be more playoff tix bought on a per game basis by STHers than in the regular season. And 2 - if there really are concerns about a lot of visiting fans buying the tix directly from the Sabres, in the past when the STH base was about 1/2 of the available seats STHers were allowed to double their ticket allotment prior to tix going on sale to the general public. Considering many of the STHers actually split tix with friends / family that would ensure a lot more tix are going to Sabres fans as those tix wil be put on the market at much lower rates than RS tix get put on the market. Should the Sabres make the playoffs, the crowd won't look like the crowd at the typical Loafs game. It won't be 100% Sabres fans, but it won't be embarrassing either.
  11. Will be there as well. Am looking forward to it to see how they play with Tuch's injury now being "old news" and not having extra energy to step up for his absense. Expecting being in the heart of a playoff chase to keep them running full steam ahead.
  12. He knows the trade on its face looks like a ton to give up for a bottom six forward. He's trying to manage the messaging. Will it work? Expect that comes down to whether they get past TO again or if TO finally sees the 2nd round. And he is right in that except for Foote, the 1st, and the 2nd, most likely none of that ever sees the NHL and Tampa's studs will be well past their sell by date before any of the picks could've helped them on the ice.
  13. And it seems pretty clear that the Bills and Frazier are parting ways but that he is going out "on his own terms." (Not a slam dunk they won't be back together, but would be surprised if he comes back next year.)
  14. Did not see that coming, but am glad to see they migt finally modify the philosophy. So, maybe Beane and McDermott can actually see what seemed so obvious to everybody not in the room. Hope Frazier doesn't have any hidden health issues he needs to deal with and that this is as other have suggested and it is simply the Bills giving him the gentlest jetison possible.
  15. Provided players are finally willing to play and stay there. They've built good teams before but all the best players couldn't wait to get out the door.
  16. Will be interesting to see if Saros does become available. Friedman is convinced he won't, but for the right price pretty much anything can happen. Would be all in on that as he'd make the Sabres legit contenders for however long it took for Levi to arrive or flame out.
  17. To make it better, they're paying this guy less than 3/4 what Bryson is making and it drops Pilut to 9 on the depth chart. And should they bring in a guy that is more widely believed to be a top 6 player, then Pilut will be 10th on the depth chart. Bring in Johnson too and Pilut is 11th. This keeps looking better and better. ;) (Well, at least it remains looking 'meh.')
  18. PuckPedia is showing his cap hit as $1.35 MM for this year and next. He is barely over an entry level cost to the Sabres.
  19. He's been at a spot for probably close to a month that he'd benefit from a game or 2 in the press box. Problem is, Asplund wouldn't have brought anything in his stead. Now that Vinnie's back, after Tuch is healthy he may get that chance to watch.
  20. Courtesy of the Christmas storm, they have the opportunity to do it again Tuesday night as the 2 will play the rare 2 day double header. The Otters flat out dominated them last night.
  21. Some of your most eloquent work.
  22. No. It is a continual limit. You can't add a bunch of guys in the evening and still be at 23 without removiing the same amount.
  23. Tuch's contract doesn't count against the 23. They were at 23 this AM, now that they've added Stillman it appears they are at 24. Most likely UPL is officially in Ra-cha-cha or the Sabres are getting a temporary waiver today while Stillman travels to Buffalo. Houser doesn't count against the 23 because he's been waived. (He's officially on the roster, but guys designated for waivers don't count against the 23.)
