  1. Kind of ironic that the year Nashville hosts the Draft, Chicago has the 1st overall pick. IIRC, Chicago is just about Nashville's biggest rival. And, not entirely sure that Chicago knows Nashville has an NHL team. (Kind of like the Whalers and the rest of the Adams Division back in the day.)
  2. And Olofsson with 50% retention should be very easily dealt. ~$2.4MM for 1 year wouldn't be limiting at all on what the Sabres can do - Dahlin's, Power's, & Mittelstadt's next deals don't kick in until next year.
  3. Looks like somebody'll have to. Maybe they figure Stone's already had his in-season vacation time so somebody else gets to take on his role this year.
  4. Except the inflection point was either the Eichel trade or the decision to once again re-rebuild. The team is on an upward trajectory. They'll be in the mix of legit contenders for a long time and depending upon how the next 2 or so weeks go, that could be opening up as early as this season or as late as 2 seasons from now. Right now am an optimist and expect Adams to be accelerating the entry into that contention window. And, not that it matters, but it's cool that you do expect the team is very close.
  5. Looking like the question is now moot if the rumors of Hannifan to FLA are accurate. Personally, would prefer them getting Graves over either of the other 2 because the acquisition cost is only money. Pesce would probably be the better fit of the 2 you asked about but even though that's the case expect my choice of the 2 would be Hannifan. Can't really give a good explanation for why other than him being younger.
  6. Good question. Too close to bed time to decide that right now. Will try to remember to come back to it tomorrow.
  7. Sabres might be able to get 2/3's of that basically for free. Can't believe Gibson is going to bring back much of a return with that contract and his last couple of years of play. Could Comtois become another Granato defective player whisperee?
  8. Certainly will regret knowing, but merely out of curiosity, wtf does your avatar look like a blowfish in a tuxedo spitting water?
  9. So, do the Sabres end up with Pesce or Hannifan (or something off the board) with that 1st rounder and is it Smishev (sp?), ASP, or some other D-man that turns into the kid that almost immediately replaces his production/play making both teams HUGE winners in the deal?
  10. On a Tuesday night in October? What's so special about that day? It's about 3 weeks after Canadian Thanksgiving and about 4 weeks ahead of US Thanksgiving.
  11. Certainly will regret knowing, but merely out of curiosity, wtf does your avatar look like a blowfish in a tuxedo spitting water?
  12. Absolutely. Glad he wasn't in on that. Expect the 6th was an overpay.
  13. Of course he will. And he's not worth the headache for even 1 season. My 2 cents. YMMV.
  14. I'm in. My thought is to tell people now that we'll be doing one again and if they want in to PM you (or me if you don't want the "flood" of PMs). And if people haven't indicated they want in by say end of July (or August, not sure how far out your group is doing its ticket draft) we just get as many tix as we have interest for by then.
  15. Remember, they usually give out t-shirts on home opener and fan appreciation (last home game) nights.
  16. So LA wants to be saddled with him for 8 years? Guess good for them. Better them than the Sabres.
  17. @pastajoe White are HOME games.
  18. 5 of the 1st 6 are at home. Don't like that. The Sabres will be flying out of the gate regardless of where they're playing. Would like to sop up some extra road wins before the rest of the league realizes the season's started. (Of course, the way the team played at home last year, maybe this is a good thing. Get those extra home wins before the rest of the league realizes the season's started. 😉) Da'faq you talkin' 'bout?
  19. Really thought somebody would've gotten that one in about 15 minutes with him having been the former Amerks coach and all.
  20. Was sure he tortured our nights for at least 600 (and he did if playoffs are included) but because of the original lockout he didn't quite get to your threshold. And as people seem to have moved on from the other question, the answer was longtime Amerks head coach Randy Cunneyworth. Roughly 17 years between goals for the Sabres.
  21. Must've washed Dominik Hasek's car every day; maybe that possibility or maybe because he could speak Dom's native tongue, or more likely because Dom got bored when guys that could actually clear the puck were on the ice and he hated getting bored HAS to be the reason he was a Sabre as long as he was.
  22. Good. Because "... clears it, not out" still sounds as clear as the days RJ was making that call.
  23. Presuming postseason games are included in that 600, refuse to answer that question on general principle. If nobody mentions his name, then he never actually was a Sabre.
  24. Well, again, people can fan the way they want to. Personally rarely use the term "us" when writing about the Sabres because other than a contract to give the Sabres a LOT of money to sit in seats X & Y for up to 41 RS games and up to 60% of the Sabres playoff games and membership on the currently dormant Fan Council don't have any official affiliation with the Sabres and IMHO it looks strange to write "us" when referring to an organization where there is only that small an amount of overlap in the Venn diagram. But almost always refer to them as "us" and "we" when speaking about them after it has been made obvious the Sabres are the subject of the discussion, because that feels right and spend way more time on them than many family members and friends (that probably really can't be good, but it is what it is). But personally don't give anybody flack for using "us" when talking about the Sabres because for many of us the Sabres in many ways feel like family, so "us" it is for a lot of people when discussing them. That SBF doesn't fan the way either of us do is his thing. He grew up a Sabres fan, still is, and now lives in a town that got it's own team and he's a fan of them as well. Can understand it. Personally wouldn't go that route - Sabres would and will continue to be #1 as long as they're based out of Erie County regardless of where my hat is hanging. But were they to ever move, they'd be dead IMHO. (Fortunately, don't see that ever happening.) It's really not a big deal, and you will do what you want and view others through your own lens. (And the rest of us will as well.) It's just the OP that started our brief little discussion came across a bit harsh (probably not the correct word here, it's actually a bit harsher than necessary, but have already spent too much time broaching this subject), again IMHO, and wanted to reply. Expect will let you have the last word on this; having spoken my peace. (Though reserve the right to change that stance. 😉) Regards. 🍻
  25. To the bolded, true. But is that in fact actually a bad thing? Yes, it might not be as much "fun" on draft day; but how many actual MAJOR trades happen then anyhow? There'll still be trades in the latter rounds with somebody trading up into the 4th by giving up a 7th or next year's 6th in addition to the pick being swapped. That won't stop happening as teams will still see somebody they had a 2nd round grade falling to the 4th and somebody else will want to restock their draft cabinet for next year because they already traded those picks away at the deadline and right after FA started.
