  1. Past hour
  2. 15th in PP with a Norris caliber D-man QBing it, and player with 1 of the 5 best 1 timers in the league. 2 guys that are very good near the net. And now a guy that can win faceoffs and has a pretty good 1 timer from the other side. And that 15th rank AFTER going on a 8 PPG in 6 games heater. There is too much talent for this PP to NOT go on a run here or there. That unit scores despite coaching, not because of it. And they oftentimes don't even bother putting 1 of those 2 good net front guys on that top unit. This team's PP SHOULD be top 10 every year. It isn't and usually doesn't come close to that because the coaching - entries, lack of movement, etc. is brutally bad. People still think that '23 PP was all that. It truly was for 6-7 weeks. It was awesome. And then opponents figured it out and it went back to being middling at best the rest of that season, though not quite as horrible as it had been to start that year. And, have said several times this year that Wilford is doing a very good job with the PK. Significantly better than expected he'd be able to get them playing. Good on him. But, Appert hasn't earned any kudos yet. They still do a lot of dumb things consistently. And that consistency is on coaching.
  3. If I were Jarmo I would: 1. be courting DeBoer. 2. make finding a goalie my top roster priority, trade one of you better pieces to get one if necessary.
  4. Did Adams accompany the team on the trip? Would be funny that he returns, thinking he can enjoy Christmas after the 3 game winning streak. He’s told Terry wants to see him and thinks “He wants to congratulate me on a successful road trip. Maybe I’ll get a Christmas bonus.” NOT!
  5. This team will never make the playoffs with their goaltending. They'd need a massive defensive turn around to the tune of 14% reduction in goals against.
  6. Probably not, but DeBoer did grow up in Dunnville, Ontario, about 45 miles from the boarder and he grew up a Sabres fan. One can hope.
  7. A couple thoughts on that: When someone advances to a new position, they invariably don't know all the job entails and they have to "fake it till they make it". I've had my current position about 16 years now and there are still times I have to fall back on that. The people who are most likely to recognize they are in over their head are the smarter ones and they know to reach out for help. But as @tom webster says, just because someone is in over their head doesn't make them a bad person.
  8. Would also help if the GM wasn't being artificially limited by what he can do by a self-imposed salary cap.
  9. Need a clip of that kid on the Simpsons who does “Ha! Ha!”
  10. I don't have a problem with Lindy as the coach of this team. Its more about the roster than it is the head coach, and in terms of the coaching staff, I think its more of a problem with the assistants as it is him. He's down the list of problems for me. I'd rather see sweeping changes in the rest of the front office first if I had to prioritize. With that said, I think maybe you can do a bit better in terms of young players today don't seem to 'connect' or 'want to play for' guys like Ruff, Torts (for that long), Babcock, etc. Maybe a move that way would help long term?
  11. Hopefully, Kevyn isn't being kept on board with a different title I don't EVER want to see his smug beak around these parts again!!!
  12. The right people who are currently unemployed.
  13. He was talking about the search when they first hired him as “senior adviser.” No one claimed that extensive search happened prior to this hire.
  14. Not if you bring in the right people.
  15. Cleaning house mid season limits your hiring pool, doesn't it?
  16. I hope he signs Tuch. He is second on the team in goals and points. Hopefully this change at gm will give him a boost and elevate is game a little bit. Heck I'm hoping to see a good jump from all the players against the flyers. I think ka was just a huge drag on the sychy of the team. Everyone knew he needed to go. Even the players could sense it, I believe
  17. I would like to see an interim coach named. After the NHL season ends, there will be many more choices available than there are right now. I would like to see a REAL search made, casting a wide net and not just looking inward or at a person "I've heard of", just because he is a familiar name.
  18. Great joke considering Kekalainen was burying his father over the weekend
  19. The only way I'll believe this regime really wants to win is if they don't go the cheap Appert route and go after an established HC whoever that may be. Deboer would be the obvious choice for me but I'm sure alot of teams will be looking at him.
  20. He should report to Jarmo and support him as required. He will learn a lot more from him and from Adams. That translates to - he did what was asked. .... like clockwork That is a good question. I heard it was KA that had some kind of relationship with him. Cut and paste from the boilerplate used for the Lindy hire. Give him a chance. Mostly a clean sweep There are probably some good ones worth keeping and he has some time to observe and listen and get to know the dynamic, that could be a real advantage. Good people on your staff is important. Yes. Multiple reports to TP can get tricky.
  21. Me walking into work after hearing the news that GM KA was fired....
  22. I think Lindy should be given a chance without being hamstrung by Adam's roster decisions. Though my position would change drastically if they were able to land DeBoer
  23. I too hope this would be the case. And if so, it needs to me made public (and probably re-worded a bit) so Sabres' pending free agents, other teams' pending free agents, and player agents hear that things will be run differently. It would at least give the Sabres a better opportunity at that avenue to improve the roster.
