Thank you for a good point - in response to whoever called my post a burner account… peterkas metrics away from Thompson are actually worse than Byram away from Dahlin. But I’m to one who’s an idiot…there is a real chance that JJ is not as good as his stat numbers looked last year if you look at the underlying statistics. of course I would love to have gotten the fourth pick as well, but if other teams know what those metric say then there’s no way we are getting the two pieces we got plus a top five draft pick. also McLeod does not need to play in the top 6 now ( to whoever said that) - they need to do their job and get another top six player and everything will be quite good. We actually have an extra $5 million to spend towards that cause and probably will have about $10 million of space after our rfas ( depending on what we get back for Byram) We should all be super pissed if they do not spend this money, but they haven’t not spent it yet

Shane and Josh Doan?

This like I’m not sure people are getting the point that discussing how it “could” work are being blindsided. It’s like buying 10 lotto tickets and trading them to someone for 3 and saying “well, one of the 3 could hit” I say this respectfully: who the f*ck cares It’s so far beyond the point. Yes, that could happen. But that we “could win” wasn’t the focus of the trade, that’s the silver lining of a move that’s priority was to save money. we indisputably made a bad trade we knew would make us worse to save money. “they could get lucky”‘isn’t a discussion point. They made us worse on purpose - talk about that

Peterka is going to a team that, per MoneyPuck, finished 5th in the NHL at expected goals, 6th in Corsi, and 6th in Fenwick, all 5v5. Kesserling and Doan are coming to a team that finished 6th last in expected goals, 16th in Corsi, and 15th in Fenwick. Kesserling and Doan both had excellent Corsi and Fenwick %'s last year, but they played on a team where nearly every player did. They are coming to a team, where more than 1/2 the roster were below 50% in these metrics. Logic suggests there are factors in these metrics that go well beyond the capabilities of individual players.

Peterka is a good fwd be he is not a star - we need to stop exaggerating 60-70 pt one dimensional player. He has a lot to prove to be a a star - or will be a Jeff skinner 2.0. Would you be mad getting the return we got for Jeff skinner in his youth knowing what he is? If they actually spend the money they have from doing this ( big if) it’s these 2 guys plus another 5 million dollar player we have a few guys that can turn into another JJ in the pipeline but no one like the 2 guys we just got.
