  1. Past hour
  2. Because Terry Pegula does not care about winning.
  3. At this stage it looks like he is still the GM because: - Pegula still trusts Adams. Pegula’s trust in Adams’s ability to ice a winning hockey team has to be fading. But Pegula is not ready to fire the man he considers a trusted consigliere. And/or - Pegula does not want to pay 2-3 men seven figure salaries to not work for him, which would be the case if he fired Adams (and Ruff). So we get one more lame-duck season of GMKA, starring Kevyn Adams and featuring Lindy Ruff. Together or apart, they are terrible reasons for not making needed change. Betting money should be on things getting worse. There just isn’t any precedent for a 1st time GM having no success through 5 seasons, and then figuring it out in year 6.
  4. I would love to know what the NHL thinks about this. The Sabres preach accountability, but do the opposite when it comes to their FO. A GM who has not made the playoffs in 5 years and not fired is unheard of. My only guess is Terry feels paralyzed for what to do, especially when it comes to firing the only person he trusts.
  5. The league doesn’t need to bother. The Sabres are perfectly capable of ineptitude without the assistance.
  6. That’s not just trading the pick. That’s upgrading the roster. I don’t equate trade draft pick = instant good player on the roster. If people want the Sabres to upgrade the roster, great but it’s going to take a heck of a lot more than # 9 overall to get it done. Which no one, other than you, bother to mention. You answered a whole bunch of questions I never asked.
  7. To answer my OP question, I’m just about done. If they don’t make major moves to fix the roster and management, I’m done.
  8. Rigged against Buffalo
  9. Because he does what Terry tells him to do. This is the classic yes man. Competency doesn’t matter.
  10. I'd make the trade bigger. Get Dobson and Barzal. Edit: if the islanders want to rebuild.
  11. He's never made the playoffs. His contract handouts are questionable. His teams have gotten worse each of the last 3yrs. He admitted he got Byram just cuz. He admitted he's never gotten a partner for Power. He drafted Quinn over Rossi. He promoted Appert and is grooming him for HC. He lied about the previous coach search. He's a self defeating poor leader. So Terry Pegula, why TF is Adams still GM?
  12. We can reasonably assume these players will be gone: Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, Desnoyers, Martone, Frondell. There's ways to get Martin to 9 but him going 7 or 8 makes sense if the upwards trend of the last month continues. If he's gone you can take McQueen or Bear. Those are likely the best options.
  13. Jay McKee coaches O’Brien as well. I’m sure he and Ruff would touch base.
  14. Go Sabres!

  19. “Hi Islanders….. pick no9 and one of Quinn Samuelson or byram for Dobson?”
  20. It registers with me. I’m not sure why you fail to understand or acknowledge why I view the staffing and hiring processes as suboptimal in this instance. But that tracks, like I said.
  21. This stupid event has more pages of conversation than a mid season Sabres game. Even Promo the Bot is more active than for actual games.
  22. The idea our "reward" for the single most catastrophic failure of a season in team history is likely a AAAA "not an AHL player but not an NHL player either" guy is just beyond depressing.
  23. I think it could be wise to keep the pick and in 3-4 years have a player on a cheap contract to hopefully put in the line-up. We have plenty of other assets to trade, like Rosen for example, that will never be roster players for Sabres but might be one on another team.
  24. I don't love Mrtka. His outlet passing is questionable. His offensive zone game is just ok. Really he's a #3/4 defender with good gap control and some physicality. If he was 3" shorter, he'd be a late teens early 20s pick. I hope for 2 things to happen now. McQueen goes in the top 8 and anther defender goes top 8 as well. Maybe something like: Schaefer, Misa, Desnoyers, Hagens, Martone, McQueen, Smith, Frondell, then Buffalo.
  25. I think character matters for bpa or the characteristics of how you play. For example, I value Bear and Martin more than O'Brien even though the latter might score more nhl points. To your point on defenders, I think 2 will go top 8. I just don't believe we'll see 7 forwards taken after Schaefer.
