  1. Past hour
  2. He literally didn't draft a goalie every year, I just covered that.
  3. No, do not address goaltending in the abstract. Address goaltending in the NOW. And btw, by not addressing it once in 5 years, he STILL isn't addressing it NOW. The set of years that covers the last 5 also includes now. He has not done addressed goaltending in the now one single solitary time. Not with anything more than a HOPE that it MIGHT work. Well, he brought it Comrie - a career backup. Well, he brought in Anderson - a 40 year old. Well, he brought in Reimer - at this point, a career backup. Well, he brought in Lyon - a career backup who's high point is a platooned starter. Notice a trend here, perhaps? He literally brought the guy that played way above his typical level and kept the Sabres out of the playoffs in '23 to keep them out of the playoffs again in '26. He has set the Sabres to have a strong possibility of having good goaltending somewhere 3-5 years from now. IF he's really lucky, they'll have good goaltending next season. But if they miss the playoffs again this year and next waiting for that 3 year down the road goaltending savior to show up; guess what, they lose Dahlin and Tuch and Thompson. They'd be in a better spot than they were in '15 or in '18, or in '21 when they retooled as they've got a legit farm club this time and those players would likely bring something back in return; but you're looking at a playoffless drought at that time that ends up dwarfing the Bills playoffless drought. Would love to see Levi dominate this year. Having watched him some down the stretch, am not expecting that yet. So, realistically, we're looking at UPL and Lyon as the tandem. That looks like a top 24 pairing. Yes, they could catch lightning in a bottle and be a top 12 tandem; and then the Sabres have a shot at the playoffs. But for crying out loud, how about JUST ONE ####ING TIME in FIVE ####ing YEARS start the year with a tandem that is EXPECTED to be TOP 12. JUST ONE ####ING TIME. At some point, don't you get tired of them being below average for almost an entire decade and a half? Like Morissey asked:
  4. 3 years left. No remote salary cap issues this year or next. Likely none in year 3 either as the cap will be significantly higher by then. They can only retain a little over $2.5MM anyhow as the salary is just a smidge over $5MM. Where the Pens currently are, don't see why they wouldn't want an extra pick or prospect for the If the Sabres were to land him under that scenario, it would essentially cover the Skinner cap hit 3 years from now and a little over 1/2 of it this year and a little over 1/3 of it next year.
  5. You keep changing the topic. First it was "he's not addressing goaltending now." Now it's "he didn't the past 5 years" which is also not true. He did commit to UPL but he also traded for Devon Levi. He's drafted goalies every year. (Leinonen, Ratzlaff, Leenders, Meloche, Prokhorov) So to say Adams is doing nothing is demonstrably false. You may not like it or agree with what he's doing but that's a different argument. And this year in particular, the Sabres are beefing up their defense which should help the goaltending out considerably. Over and over people talk about addressing goaltending in the abstract. Gotta get that magical guy who'll be awesome! Who that is is rarely identified or is a player who's team would never trade away. (Even an offer they can't refuse, which no one ever articulates what that is.)
  6. There are a lot of teams with the cap space left for Rust and Rakell, and not many other choices of that caliber on the market available for futures. Adding either would elevate my hope meter, but I have a strong suspicion demand will escalate the price beyond anything Adams will be willing to pay.
  7. No. The board would go crazy if he was traded 1/1 for an unproven ELC. Didn’t watch enough St. Louis games to say, but the pedigree and stats say not equal.
  8. Now that I dont know as Rust has 3 years left, but if they would retain enough to say get Rust at 4 million? that would be valuable as he has 3 years left on his deal. I would think a lot of teams would line up that I do think if we make a deal for Rust it will cost more then people want to give, but this is the time to push those futures in
  9. Wouldn't be surprised. Would expect the Pens would have to retain salary, and they probably would want to as they've got a full 23 man roster signed with over $15MM in cap space left.
  10. Now, now, be fair to Mr. Adams, whatever could he POSSIBLY have done differently? We KNOW there were no other options available because he didn't do anything differently. We, and he, are left with raising our arms and shouting at the sky because there were LITERALLY no other options available to him.
  11. I think that is there plan, especially if Byram stays
  12. I mentioned it myself in one or two of the draft threads. That's different. Since (and including) the Ullmark situation, Adams has proved himself inept where it comes to G, if not generally inept.
  13. Id take that though, people need to see this team be at the cap, just to let the buttholes of an entire fanbase unclench a bit Whatever happens with Byram, we cant be done, we have to do at least one more add
  14. You know what is worse than the complaints about the GM? Superfans crying about the complainers. You are no different from anyone else here…beating a dead horse Just a different horse.
  15. How is this a tabloid when he shows all the videos of everything he talks about? He shows every presser and interview of Pam Bondi saying exactly what she has in possession. I only look at what was said and what happens. Like where was Trump after he was informed about the flooding. He went golfing...

  17. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/report-pittsburgh-penguins-fielding-calls-on-wingers-rickard-rakell-bryan-rust-1.2332880 I wonder if they still make a play on Rust
  18. He's had 5 YEARS to address the need. What is the excuse the OTHER 4 years? Yes, it is easy to come up with hypotheticals. It's even easier to just shrug and say "well, there's absolutely nothing he could have done."
  19. I hear you but I am just looking for Power to use his frame to lean on players in the corners and clear out in front of the net, not to try to be the reincarnation of Chris Pronger. His active avoidance of contact makes him hard for me to even watch without feeling nauseous. I like his offensive game for the most part.
  20. By the time Byram and Timmins get their arbitration awards, and Levi is signed, the Sabres will have less than $4MM in cap left. Maybe they sign a middle 6 type free agent forward. Then the complaint will shift from "why aren't we spending to the cap?" to "why are we spending our cap on these guys?"
  21. You named one goalie who didn't leave Vancouver. What exactly is an offer the Canucks can't refuse? It's easy to come to with hypotheticals. It's another to make them happen. If you didn't like Gibson, then Adams got the next best free agent goalie available. In other words, he addressed the need. You may not like it, but he addressed it.
  22. Hated, and still hate to this day, losing Ullmark.
  23. I really believe it’s three things; A) A lot of teams are looking for goalies B) goaltending is so unpredictable C) the Carolina theory; unless you can get yourselves on if the top 5 guys, the rest are all nearly the same. That is why losing Ullmark was unforgivable in my book. Finally, for the record, I think they were in on Demko before Vancouver decided to re-up.
  24. So, YOU'RE the one that made Zucker take that penalty that blew everything up at the end? Sheesh, like the soup Nazi says: No Sabres for YOU!!!! 😉
  25. Mailloux looks like a video game rendering of a hockey player.
  26. Really? A guy pencilled in to be the backup as he's been a career backup pretty much every year in the league except 1 where he was the definition of a platoon starter is your example of Adams "addressing goaltending." This team sets itself up annually to in a best case, if everything goes right to have a 100 point season. And EVERYTHING never goes right, ever. Realize it was a tough ask this year to put a goaltending tandem on the ice that would be clearly better than last season's tandem as the few goalies that moved aren't worldbeaters. But Vancouver, at a minimum, is in a place that they've essentially got 3 GOOD goalies and are on the verge (1 year away) of only have 2 spots available for them all. Why not make an offer that they can't turn down, ideally to land Demko. But if not, to land the backup that they locked up LT. Get yourself a little breathing room to not need every single thing go right. Why not make an offer on somebody else (other than Gibson; he won't come to Buffalo and he fades badly down the stretch)? If the Swamp Cats needed a goalie, you know darn well that Zito would've found a way to get one. Vegas would too.
