  1. Past hour
  2. I saw this game much differently than most of the commentators here.Overall, I thought we outplayed Boston. I liked how the team fought back after going two goals back. They stuck with their game and played harder battling for the puck. One positive takeaway was the play of Lyon. If we get this caliber of goaltending I will be more than satisfied. I liked the play of Kesserling. He’s a little rusty but you can see that he’s a second pair talent. This was Greenway’s first game back. He’s a big fellow who has a big presence. There is nothing fancy about his game but he’s a tough guy that the opposition is well aware of. What’s apparent to me is that Dahlin is pressing and trying to force the action. His penalty at the end of the second period that led to a score was damaging. Tage is also pressing. Too much solo act. Although the final outcome was disappointing, I can’t criticize the effort. There were some openings but we simply missed the shots. The difference between this year’s team compared to previous teams is that we are at least getting loser points in close games. Certainly, not good enough but better than leaving with empty pockets.
  3. They're drafted how they have because they're bad at their jobs. Benson, Mrtka, Helenius are solid picks but after that it's a lot of... ok but this would have been better. Bedkowski is the perfect example of, don't do that there.
  4. Quinn is gonna score 30 this year. I think he might’ve been there just because that’s his old squad. He brought in most of those players.
  5. Yeah I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt because it’s the compassionate thing to do but he can’t keep making the mistakes he’s making. They always end up in the back of the net. Once or twice a game, he makes a maddening decision and blows the game for us. He’s a good player but he’s gotta eliminate the crippling mistakes. Lindy has told him about this. Told him it can’t happen but it’s still happening. Maybe he’ll never outgrow it. It’s been too long that’s for sure.
  6. Agree on most of these, but the trade for McLeod has been great so far. Disagree he’s been “bad this year”. While maybe not a 2nd line center, he has 7 points in 11 games and is at least even in +/- at 0.
  7. Today
  8. Not reading the noise. They outplayed Boston all game. Had some unlucky breaks. Clawed back from a deficit. The overtime was clowny, but 3v3 overtime shouldn’t be a priority that’s whatever. Happy with the effort to rebound I feel like in previous seasons they’ve would’ve simply collapsed
  9. Not more than one point from a wild card spot is not a total disaster to start the season. It's okey but not more than that and we should have won two of the last three. If they can be one point from a wild card spot by thanksgiving I think they are doing well, the schedule is getting much more challenging the next two months.
  10. It seems Adams and his staff has made a big misjudgement about the direction the league is heading into and what sort of players it favors. I can't come up with any other reason why they have drafted the way they did. He has failed, no doubt about that. I am absolutely sure if Kekäläinen replaces Adams we get better drafting, what I am not sure about is if I trust him retool this team.
  11. Kevyn Adams vs Brandon Beane early draft picks
  12. If you look at the last 3 games you see a team that is playing harder but is still finding ways to lose. Stupid penalties at in opportune times. Losing control of the puck leading to two of the three OT losses. Coughing up 2 3rd period leads. So until this team stops being stupid, they will remain on the outside looking in.
  13. Have any of the Adams drafted Russians even come close to playing a shift in the NHL? Novikov, Komarov, Kisakov, Poltapov, Sardarian or Neuchev, none are even on the radar. Even the two big Russian D, seem to be behind Metsa, Jones and Johnson on the depth chart. Soon they’ll be passed by Mtrka. Good thing Adams spent 2 2nds and 2 3rds on the Russian forwards.
  14. He has skill, but he's not what we need. If he stays healthy, Greenway should give us more. If I could trade Östlund (plus whatever) for another Doan I'd do it in a heartbeat.
  15. This is correct. Just as an aside, I think the reason the Bruins signed him to the overpay was he demolished Trent Frederic the year before and Frederic wasn't exactly a pushover. That sort of thing got Cam Neely all excited.
  16. Dahlin took a stupid penalty early in the 1st period that resulted in a Boston PP goal. Dug a hole for the team.
  17. And Dahlin took a stupid penalty right at the start. No focus and discipline.
  18. He's the one guy that if we traded and he turned into a stud, I wouldnt care. Plays so soft and lackadaisical (thats a big word for me). I don't care if hes moved.
  19. That would make a lot of sense. Thank you.
  20. During the broadcast they mentioned the Celtics played last night. That was the excuse used for why pucks kept bouncing wildly off one of the stanchions in the Sabres end. Presumably that's why the ice seemed bad too.
  21. I'd trade him for a Will Smith CD. KIDDING... Kinda.
  22. I’m not trying to derail the conversation, but was the ice condition tonight really poor or something? Did anyone else notice this? Lots of players losing edges and pucks bouncing wildly? It’s not an excuse either. It affected both teams noticeably.
  23. On a certain level Ruff isn't the problem. BUT he accepted ALL the assistant coaches when he was brought in wtihout bringing in any of his own guys (with the minor exception of demoting Ellis and moving Appert from Amerks HC to key AC and PP coordinator; which is just as bad, if not actually worse) and then after having worked with all of them for a full year didn't punt ANY of them (not even a demotion) and brought the entire band back except for the S&C coach. Their coaching is bad. Though will give Wilford credit for having the PK playing very well when it gets good GTing behind it. Did NOT see even that coming. And the fact that Ruff hasn't forced any real moves in that department says he's part of the problem too.
  24. Agree here. There is a foundation here, but it needs more help and MUCH better coaching. Maybe a decent coaching staff can make Power into more than a baby giraffe on the ice. Maybe they can salvage Jack Quinn. Maybe they can elevate Kulich. This isn't a team in need of a tear down rebuild. It needs a competent GM to tweak the roster a bit and hire a coaching staff worth a damn.
  25. No, Stillman is the guy that Jeannot destroyed. In IIRC Stillman's 1st game in a Sabre uni. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
  26. I don't know what you call it, but Benson, Doan, Kesselring, and Krebs are RFAs next season. Tuch is a UFA. Keeping all these players probably requires moving other contracts (Greenway, Quinn, UPL, Byram/Power). Moving on from Tuch means trading a contributor before the trade deadline, probably for draft picks because the cap space will be needed for the RFAs. Roster decisions need to be made, whether they are considered a retool or rebuild.
  27. Add in his, early overpay to UPL after his ONE quality 20 game stretch and Adam's opus is a tall pile of poo!!! Sorry, I'm on a "fire UPL into the sun" campaign at the moment
