  1. Past hour
  2. You cash the paycheck you deserve the criticism.
  3. And scouts and scouting methods and over concept of what type of team it takes to be successful in today's NHL
  4. Yep saw this. I was going to post, ‘70 curse. Hockey Guy is smhaaat.
  5. I remember that episode. Be careful, I’m a Sicilian. If you upset me, I’ll shoot in the kneecap and watch you dance/hobble.😎
  6. Kool-aid is offered but the players are increasingly rejecting it.
  7. I’m aware of the tradition. I’m not totally against it. But I’ve heard of stories where some inconsiderate players take advantage of the tradition by buying bottles of the most expensive liquor (champagne) just because it is free and don’t even consume all of it. I agree with you that it is a time honored NHL tradition. It shouldn’t be a surprise that sometimes a few people take advantage of it.
  8. Terry could have just said I want to approve all moves. There was no need to extend him for these reasons. The extension was an act of good faith by Terry that Adams will have a job after this shakeup, or at a minimum, have one year of severance pay in the form of the extension. I lowered the bar.
  9. As a thought experiment, what would a Sabres trade for Hughes have looked like? Power or Byram, Tuch (assuming he signs long term with Canucks), Rosen, Östlund or Helenius and unprotected #1, assuming Hughes signs long term with Sabres. Would you be pro or con for something along those lines?
  10. This conversation reminds me of the Sopranos episode where Christopher is forced to buy dinner because he is the newest made guy. I did not post a link because of the R rated nature of it but on You Tube it's Paulie and Christopher kill a waiter. So that is what can go wrong.
  11. It’s a time honored tradition in most professional sports. And those higher paid vets return the favor over the course of a season.
  12. I say yes. Adding Tuch and Norris should energize this tired group for its last game on this extended road trip. This battered group needs some positivity for its long flight back. Question: Are players allowed to drink on team flights?
  13. After a possible bills loss, I need the Sabres to pick me up tonight. A loss resulting in Adams being fired is good too
  14. Everyone knows that I am a harsh critic of KA. However, that doesn’t mean 😪 I don’t have some empathy for the public flogging he is getting. He should never have been placed in the position that he was manifestly unqualified for. The worst part of his hiring is that it has been going on for so long. He never should have been hired for the position and he never should have accepted it when offered.
  15. Today
  16. Following 12 days spent across six cities and four different time zones, the Buffalo Sabres conclude their season-long road trip on Sunday against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena. Alex Tuch and Josh Norris both could be in the lineup after practicing on Saturday, coach Lindy Ruff said. Tuch missed Thursday’s win in Vancouver due to an illness. Norris has missed the last two games due to what Ruff described as a combination of illness and injury. With no morning skate, Ruff said a decision on both players will be made pregame. Noah Östlund also factored into the team’s lines at practice on Saturday following a recall from Rochester. Seattle ranks last in the NHL with 73 goals scored – a reality that’s only been amplified by recent injuries to forwards Jaden Schwartz and Jared McCann. They lost in Utah on Friday. That loss marked the continuation of what’s been a challenging season at both ends of the ice for the Kraken. At all strengths, their -44 differential in high-danger chances ranks last in the league. The next closest team, Utah, is -26. Kraken is a dumb name. Go Sabres.
  17. Veteran players can afford it even more.
  18. Yes. It didn’t take long to recognize that he didn’t know what he was doing. The confusion in the organization started right away with the Lafontaine saga that ended with a settlement that included a non-disclosure clause. The Pegula franchise has always been known for its instability and foolishness. The inexplicable hiring of KA to be the GM was odd, reckless and jaw dropping stupid. It really doesn’t take much talent to recognize stupendous incompetence. It’s there for everyone to see.
  19. Good for you, I was just passing along info on how the system worked, no credit needed
  20. They know which players are making league minimum and which signed for 7-figures.
  21. Have the dinner. Let the vets gorge themselves scaring the bejezus out of the rookies with the potential bill. When the check comes to the table, let Dahlin pick up the tab. Change the name to the Captain’s Dinner.
  22. The minimum NHL salary is roughly $4K per day. Between his NHL per diem and getting his brief pay in NHL dollars, even a guy like Kuntar would probably break even. Plus my experience is that NHL players are more caring of their rookie teammates than their football brethren. They won’t bankrupt the kids.
  23. I'm looking forward to Monday when nothing happens and we all lose our minds. 😜 (It will more likely be Tuesday just to give everyone a chance to rest up from getting in late Monday from Seattle and Finland.)
