  1. Past hour
  2. I think the Sabres want to be a pace-pushing, always-attacking team, both on offence and defence. Adams has said it numerous times, as has Ruff.
  3. Why do we think Rossi got 4th line minutes in the playoffs? He was their 10th most used forward (11th if you count Hinostroza, who played just 1 game) at 11:08 per game. He was behind Freddie Gaudreau and Marcus Johansen. He averaged 18 minutes during the regular season. Evason is an idiot is not an acceptable answer; he had reasons, what were they? Could the fact he went 3/6/9/-13 in 23 games down the stretch, been a factor? If so, why did he slump? His ice time was not cut in the regular season. Im not interested in investing assets in another guy who’s not a playoff-type performer.
  4. When Lindy started with the team in the 90s, they played a tight checking, low scoring game. After the lockout, he saw the roster he had and turned the offence dial to 11. When asked about the stark contrast between the two styles of play, he publicly stated that you need to coach to your team's strengths. If you have a high flying offence, you don't constrain them in a defense first system. So theoretically, our coaching staff can adapt to the type of roster we're able to assemble. It's hard to get good players... let alone players that only play a particular style, so largely you need to play with the cards as they're dealt.
  5. I'd still like a clear identity to the Sabres that is stated clearly and then coaches etc. are hired to fit that identity and when they don't live up to playing like that stated identity we and they can call them out on it. What exactly are the Sabres aside from young?
  6. Ya. If you need the C to lead you are no leader at all. If Jarmo is the most fit to steer this ship he’ll be the one doing the steering It was either on Friday or Stanksturday
  7. When did Adams show these mannerisms? Today? Did they put out a video? The guy’s never exhibited in-charge vibes during his entire time as GM.
  8. And Juri Kulich could be as good as Sebastian Aho. I’d still take Aho.
  9. Marco Rossi got covid after the draft and almost died. He spent a year barely playing hockey. So... trajectories https://thehockeynews.com/news/news/marco-rossi-just-thankful-to-be-alive
  10. That’s the whole point, for me.
  11. Of course, just like @gomper said this is a positive for the organization. We don't have many of those around here.
  12. I think the alarm went off already some time ago and he even used up his allotted snoozes
  13. In situations like this, I always wonder about past precedents with other teams. You know, (team) brought in (person) to advise (other person) and it turned out (fill in the blank).
  14. Idk why any of us have to fight about this at all. We can't know how it changes things. Wait and see is all we can do.
  15. Unless Jarmo bails like Patty did
  16. Today
  17. Like I said, Kevyn is on the clock.
  18. The more I think about this, the more it feels like Jarmo is essentially the shadow GM. Adams mannerisms didn’t line up with a guy still in charge, really. This guy has the experience…I think he’s the guy the non formalization at this time is merely pegula antics to save face
  19. For sure, even after returning from that off-season injury Quinn was dynamic. 5 goals, 7 assists, 12 points in 17 games after missing half the summer and the first 32 games.
  20. I think some of you are missing the point. Finally, an adult in the room with a successful past, other than Lindy. Will it work? That's anyone's guess but having an experienced voice in the organization is a positive thing. We'll see.
  21. Might be just be my view, lets not take it into any sports related stuff. But your company is doing not so well, not close to bankrupt (14 yr no- playoff phantom zone) but just some bad years. No real company is run like our beloved team... But new manager comes in, who everyone knows is capable of being a gm, your current manager (gm) who probably already got new jobs lined up is on the clock That is how I see this, if end november we still suck , the change is easy. Also if you guys think this doesn't bother Terry pegula, I think it does.
  22. Sign Vitek Vanecek. Played for Lindy in NJ, and now with Florida.... doesn't play much but part of that winning culture. Has playoff games on his resume. Vanecek with UPL Levi in Rochester
  23. Hard not to like the hire. I am not worried if Adams will listen or not, they wouldn't have hired him if he wasn't willing to listen. My question is what is his role? Will be he involved daily? Will he be included on every trade discussion? At every scouting meeting? Will he be attending games? Sabres once had Craig Patrick in a similar role, who was very visible in the early parts in the Pegula suite and even on the road, made several radio hits and then just disappeared. I'm not even sure if we know exactly when he left the Sabres org or what impact (if any) he even had? He's not the GM. He can have an opinion to keep him but he ain't steering the ship. Just like i assume Karmanos and Ventura will have a say. I mean it's hard to say what he will do or suggest. It's almost June 1, and most of the big moves like Peterka and Byram will be finalized within 3-4 weeks. He probably doesn't have much to say one way or another tbh.
  24. If that’s the case I salute him and like him even more. Based on his record he is not afraid of making deals. I think you are over reading the situation based on your worries about the franchise history.
  25. Levi could be as good and cheaper.
  26. Probably because as of right now, it hasn’t.
