  1. Past hour
  2. In other words we need a mini rebuild.
  3. I’ve been saying this forever, they need a Ray Lewis, Takeo Spikes type of leader on defense who isn’t on the down swing of his career aka Von Miller and Nick Bosa. I’m not impressed with Beane. Take Josh Allen off this team and you’re near the bottom of the league. Mediocre offensive line, mediocre defense, no true #1 receiver. They were lucky to beat Baltimore week 1 otherwise they are 3-3. ^ Agree with all of this
  4. Jarmo already had a GM spot with Columbus and it was nothing to write home about. A big fat negative to me. This entire front office, including scouts, coaches and assistant coaches need to go. The entire culture has to change. Way too many people just taking paychecks doing a ***** job. Look at the scouting department. With as many picks this team has had they have tons of misses. The prospects should be much better than this. I would go so far to replace the strength and conditioning coaches as well.
  5. I would fire the entire hockey department along with whatever scout wanted Mason Geertsen. I seen enough of Geertsen in the AHL with the Silver Knights and he shouldn’t be in the NHL. I would go so far in firing the strength and conditioning coaches as well.
  6. From what I’ve seen from San Jose, they look already ahead of Buffalo.
  7. Over the last two NHL seasons there have been twelve mid-season head coaching changes. Three of those changes were done by teams in the midst of lost seasons where there was no goal of making the playoffs at the time of the change: - in 23-24 NJ fired Ruff for Green Travis late in the year - in 24-25 Chicago fired Richardson after only 26 games, but there were no illusions of them making a playoff run - also in 24-25, the Flyers fired Tortorella with only 9 games left The other nine mid-season head coaching changes in the last two seasons, were done by teams that had plans to make the playoffs and at an early enough point in the season where the change was intended to be impactful. The only one that did not result in an improved winning/points % was Boston replacing Montgomery with Sacco early last year. The other eight changes all resulted in improved performance, ranging from the modest in Ottawa going from a .423% under DJ Smith to a .500% under Jacques Martin, to the dramatic in Edmonton where the Oilers went from playing .269 hockey under Woodcroft to .702 under Knoblach. The others were: in 2023-24: - NYI went from .544 under Lambert to .608 under Roy and made the playoffs - LA went from .583 under McLellan to .632 under Hiller and made the playoffs - STL went from .482 under Berube to .601 under Drew Bannister and missed - Minn went from .368 under Evason to .587 under Hynes and missed in 2024-25: - Det went from .441 under Lalonde to .583 under McLellan and missed - STL went from .431 under Bannister to .641 under Montgomery and made the playoffs In the 14 year drought, the Sabres have not made a mid-season coaching change at a point in the season where the change could have a positive impact on that year's standings. They are crazy not to at least try.
  8. Today
  9. and The Hockey Guy ranked them 32nd in his early season power rankings 🙂 32 Thoughts today led off with Buffalo talk and the suggestion even Ruff has checked out already. Season is over. The one thing TP did do was set himself up for an easy hire upon firing. Jarmo would take the GM job and he's already on the payroll. You know it's coming, it's just when and how. Will it matter? who knows. can't be much worse.
  10. We all knew this year was a coin toss. On defense we replaced both safeties with young subpar performers, our LB’s are smaller weight wise but outside of Milano who’s injured often, we don’t have a consistent pass rush and our run stopping is probably bottom 5 in the league. We have no star impact players on D, no one to lead by example on a regular basis. Offensively we need impact receivers with speed. And for god sakes get a fullback with size to help in multiple facets of the O game, not the least of which would be blocking schemes.
  11. There is nothing to indicate it could be anything in even 3-4 years. It needs a complete reset, like an expansion team. Every single person here gone and a full reset with a new philosophy that will then take several years to build.
  12. In only 6 weeks Vrabal already took the lead in the division with a young team. Embarrassing. Not a good sign. Allen is starting to look like Rivers career 2.0. It might be time to consider moving off this staff before Allen is past his prime.
  13. Dahlin has done this in other years too. They are already breaking from any semblance of a real system. It's the earliest this has started so far, but it happens every year. The team concept breaks down and individuals overplay and make mistakes. It'll get worse if things don't take some sort of radical turn but I doubt it as they just seem checked out already.
  14. All depends on who and hopefully not anyone from within. The entire front office needs to go, along with every scout pushing for Smurf hockey players, plus the entire coaching staff along with strength and conditioning coaches.
  15. The Bills hit a home run with Josh Allen and if we had any other quarterback they would be like the Raiders.
  16. Buffalo sports Where dreams go to die.... What a WTF Monday THAT was! 😵
  17. The Bills caught a bad case of the Sabres
  18. Only if they move on from Adams now.
  19. I don't see how anyone can consider this team a contender right now. This defense has no chance to stop anybody, and the offense is not a world beater with no weapons outside of Cook and Shakir.
  20. Bills ain’t going anywhere until they get a better offensive line and a #1 receiver. So agree
  21. 3-4 years if effective today the entire front office and the entire coaching staff was dumped and competent people found to stop the swirl. It would take the remainder of the this season just to stop the momentum and maybe get the to the point that change can be made. Then there is a chance there might be some positive direction for this franchise. All that said, Terry has to sell the team in order for things to truly change for the better in the near term. I'm convinced of that he simply doesn't care.
  22. Rico if that happens there will be severe damage to the fan base. Just put Jarmo in there and see if he can find a coach. Overpay DeBoer or bring up Leone, just do something.
  23. The roster construction is not good. Beane has missed a lot, and his FA acquistions generally are misses as well. McDermott's scheme is tired and exposed. The WR room is terrible. Josh Allen is now pressing and getting beat up, because there aren't any easy buttons. We win when we don't turn it over at all and the defense gets timely take aways. It's not Sabres' bad, of course, but in the world of sports, what is?
  24. I didn't expect any different. Every off season we say the same thing and it goes something like this - "in order to win we need every good player to have another great year, and we need all three prospects to take a big step up." We never say we added 3 impact players. We never say we shored up the goaltending. We never say we brought in winning veteran leadership. Never. That no compete game against Boston was horrific. I was a bit surprised that the team already quit on Ruff, they often play better on the road without crowd pressure. The mental impact of losing Norris seems to frustrate they key players who were counting on him. A sign that out vets have never accomplished anything.
  25. If it wasn't KC last year it would have been the Eagles. I'm glad we were spared the two extra weeks.
  26. The problem is that they follow the same script every year. Strong start, then the wheels fall off with a bad stretch of losses. Then they heal up and go on a run. Can we just fast forward to the playoff loss to KC already? They need to do something to flip the script.
