  1. Past hour
  2. Should have definitely found a veteran partner/mentor for Power when they drafted him. Plus hired a Jay McKee type coach to work day and night with the D.
  3. Keep telling yourself that so you can make yourself feel better that making the playoffs doesn’t actually matter 👍 It matters. It’s what most fans want. It’s a ridiculously low bar, it IS attainable, it is because of the FRANCHISE we don’t have it, and no matter how much you so desperately want to blame the fans, you can’t do it. You desperately, desperately need to tell yourself that the fans interests are disingenuous - it terrifies you that what the fans what is actually attainable and that the franchise is responsible. For you, you HAVE to believe the fans can’t be happy. You NEED to believe the organization can’t satisfy. the simple admittance most fans would be happy with playoffs torpedoes the image of the org and by dammnit Promo wont have it
  4. So what he's saying is Darche fired after one season? No way Islanders are that stupid unless Hagens is still there at 9. Then maybe. The SJ deal I could see happening.
  5. I think you're missing some perspective on this. Zucker isn't really more rugged, he just comes from playing on different teams and he's only "rugged" relative to the softness of how the Sabres play. JJP has shown moments that tells me he'd be more rugged in a different system and coached differently. Consider E-Rod in Florida for example (I'm not comparing E-Rod to JJP skill wise, just how they played here how they play there). Zucker has also played for different teams and as a veteran he has been taught more defense so it's natural to him. Sabres haven't taught it to Peterka so what do you expect? Every young kid in the league wants to play offense and score goals. Defense is hard and boring. By the time Peterka is Zucker's age he will be a far better player and he will be just as rugged and defensive. Unless he stays a Sabre, then who knows.
  6. Ridiculously sad to see Haliburton go down like that
  7. Hard to say the order of the Cs, tbh they’d probably be saying they are after a “1C” if that was reasonably attainable, unless the plan for Tage is back to C. If we add a 2C as is, I suppose we’d have 3 guys who can be 2C on a good day. Suppose they’d be hoping you get a viable 1, 2 and 3 out of that (the 1 will be lacking, the 3 hypothetically an advantage). But to me that’s more of a solid plan if we had 3 written in stone 2Cs. McLeod and Norris are more so “maybes” on that front and we don’t even have the third guy yet. their idea to keep adding Cs is a good one - we need it I wouldn’t worry about “room” for anyone - we can afford to add literally everywhere
  8. @irregularly irregular said "gone in two weeks." Don't be changin' the bet.
  9. Would you be so confident in the bet if it was for July 6, 2027?
  10. The teacher’s insensitivity wasn’t too damaging to me because I was voted the class president and gave a short speech on stage to the audience at the graduation ceremony. It ended well.
  11. And remember, he was the "WRONG JOSH" according to the experts. But the drought ended the year earlier with Tyrod Taylor. Just goes to show you never know when your bad luck streak will end.
  12. Yesterday
  13. So center spine would be Norris - ? - McLeod. But do we have a spot for a top 6 winger if we bring back Peterka?
  14. In a way it’s easy to put the pieces together there because we KNOW Botterill got fired because he didn’t agree with cutting costs. What are the odds HE was the one against doling out cash to Reinhart?
  15. I think you're a cool cat, if my opinion means anything? I had the opposite chorus exp during my scholastic years Music teachers would volunteer me, EVERY year, from 1st grade up to middle school b/c of my vox capabilities (not bragging, it's whatever) and it was my duty to get myself booted from chorus, as I found the experience not to my liking 🫡 I suppose they heard something they liked/needed b/c it was more than one teacher AND it happened every year, until high-school Now, had they been performing Fauré's Requiem, maybe I would have reduced my resistance
  16. I have no idea how to link an article from my Bleacher Report app But here are some highlights: “Lightning Must Trade for JJ Peterka Amid Stanley Cup Hopes Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff reported that the Lightning are one of several teams interested in adding Buffalo Sabres left wing JJ Peterka via trade this off-season. The Lightning need depth and adding a top-tier winger to the roster that already has Brandon Hagel and the great Nikita Kucherov would certainly do that. The question is what Tampa would have to give up in return. Draft picks, a quality defenseman, and/or a center would likely be involved as the Sabres continue to look for ways back to the playoffs for the first time in 14 years. Peterka is a future star at a position of need. Giving up a center or defenseman, both of which the team has in abundance compared to their depth issues at winger, is a small price to pay for a player who theoretically could come in, provide an immediate offensive spark, and help the team keep pace with the Panthers, Toronto, Carolina, New York, and New Jersey, all off whom are strong candidates to emerge from the Eastern Conference in any given season.“
  17. No that was Garnet Hathaway who plays for Philly, he would also be a nice adds and I figure we could get him for a Sammy swap
  18. Is Jaennot the guy who, basically, recalculated Cousins' trajectory when he broke Cousins' face in that ugly fight???
  19. Feels very similar to the Bills up until they drafted Allen.
  20. I haven't looked at the Sabres cap lately so I don't know the numbers, but if going 3 years, I would offer him as much as I can, SHORT of causing problems with re-signing Tuch and Benson and McLeod. If I can get those 3 locked up (and Bryam and/or who you get for Byram) and then STILL have money left over for Tavares, spend away. That $4.4million cap hit for Skinner this year and the $6.4M cap hit for his buyout next year kinda stinks right now.
  21. It's all just so horrible. It seems that the Sabres don't even play in the NHL. They're just there for other teams to grab our young developed talent and gain two points while laughing their way out of town. I honestly don't blame the players past and present who want to get TF out of here. Maybe Jorma can bring some meaningful change, but given the direction of this franchise. I doubt it. They have a horrible reputation with players around the league. Terry has to sell, but he won't. We all just have to pray he gets lucky like he did with the Bills. Depending on luck is a lonely place to be. It sucks, but they did this to themselves.
  22. I'm sure the Sabres are "listening" to offers for Peterka, but only so far as to see if anyone wants to get stupid with a package. But I think it's 99% JJ is a Sabre for years to come. It won't help things if he becomes a distraction. It's in his interest to play his best and keep his value high.
  23. I mostly meant here at SabreSpace. Some posters have said as much. Breaking the drought wouldn't change any of the usual talking points around this team. Nothing short of a cup would, and maybe not even then
  24. I want to keep JJP and have often stated so. But from a stylistic standpoint they are very different. Zucker plays a more rugged and physical game. Zucker is also a much more responsible two-way player than JJP. He is also arguably our best player at the net. JJP is a faster north/south skater with a better shot. From an offensive standpoint JJP is more potent. These players have different skill sets and both are needed.
