  1. Past hour
  2. No. That 5 million left is right about where Terry wants to be. Unfortunately I think we stay put.
  3. You keep saying this and you are right as long as all your assumptions are right. However, if they don’t share your opinion of the value of JBD, Bryson and Timmins, then none of it is really correlated. You may be right, they may be wrong, but I see no correlation between walking away from JBD because they didn’t want to pay what they thought he might get in arbitration while being willing to pay Timmins close to what he was going to command in arbitration. And for the record, I would have kept JBD over Bryson but I really can’t get worked up about out 7th, 8th or 9th defenseman
  4. This is a bottom 5 team next year and the only joy I'll get from it will be if Terry finally cleans house.
  5. The gm was afraid of arbitration. We know because of his words and actions. That's hilarious because it's a formality in 19 out of 20 cases.
  6. Pretty sure, though, that is his point. Having retained Bernard-Docker even at the risk of him ending up with a Timmons contract (or more likely what we'd've expected Timmons contract to be, not the one coming in at over $2MM/yr) knowing how well he and Power looked at the end of the year rather than bringing Bryson back would've resulted in a better defense at least on paper than what they have now with Bryson as the spare. Because they very likely could've come to an agreement with JBD prior to reaching arbitration.
  7. Now this is goalposts moving. You think the issue is Timmins? No, it's that they let a guy go because "what if he files for arbitration!?" Which was the gms rationale only to sign a guy who immediately filed for arbitration. It's hilarious and bad decision making because as you point out, they all sign anyways.
  8. There’s plenty of incompetence to go around. My issue is that we start blindly labeling every single thing that way. Timmins, and pretty much every single player that did so this year, is completely meaningless. There’s maybe 3 left at this point, they all got deals done. Filing is essentially just a formality at this point. Pretty much nothing goes to a hearing anymore.
  9. I'm no roslovic expert...but my understanding is his D is awful. Do we really want to add that to 'this' roster? I believe Adams is done and this is the team.....unfortunately
  10. Roslovic is still available. Rust &/or Rackell are supposedly still on the trade block from the Pens. Would probably need Pittsburgh to retain a smidge to have some flexibility as injuries pile up, but they could make any of those work.
  11. The gm said they didn't want to do arbitration with JBD and then signed a bad player and allowed another player to file for arbitration b4 signing him. It's not moving the goalposts, it's recognizing incompetent decision making.
  12. AFP analytics on cap wages had Timmins at 2x2.67M projected. Not sure why it was that much. Pretty far off of what he got.
  13. How does Victor Oloffson sound? 😬 There’s not much available out there…
  14. He would have been a UFA after one year. This 2 year contract does buy into one year or that. But also, signing before the hearing avoids the massive headache that process is. That’s a huge plus for both sides.
  15. Quenville certainly knew about what was happening (and didn’t do anything), but he wasn’t the person accused of the act. This isn’t to say Q is a great guy; I wouldn’t want him to run the Sabres. I just don’t feel comfortable with any of these people, guilty or not. This wasn’t something completely fabricated like the Duke lacrosse players. Something happened that night, legal or not, that many of us wouldn’t take part in. Pass.
  16. What is the point in signing before arbitration unless you think the results would yield a potentially higher AAV award? So was he somehow going to get MORE than $2.2M annually if they let it play out? Or just bad negotiating by Adams…again? If I assume he was a portion of the second round pick collateral to Pittsburgh (Clifton cap dump being the other), and if JBD would have gone to arbitration and that process yielded say $1.5m- $1.8m, are the Sabres better off with Timmons at $2.2m or with JBD, the draft capital (whatever it may be) plus the additional cap space (not that it would be used)?
  17. That’s what we call moving the goalposts.
  18. Yeah, hopefully you're going after more of the Sam Adams Cherry Wheat than today's fruit bombs. Cherry Wheat is probably the beer that fully opened the path to non-lager drinking. I was drinking some craft before then but once out of college things changed. Playing hockey late nights and then going to Doc and Den's in Tonawanda, they always had Cherry Wheat and I got onto that and never looked back. I haven't had one of those in a long time now and I have no desire to either.
  19. Signing Timmins while releasing JBD but keeping Bryson is still incompetent.
  20. So are we still outraged and using the arbitration filing as a sign of front office incompetence?
  21. Today
  22. lol I like Bo as a player, but who was signing him for $11M? Plus give up two firsts, a second, and a third? I know you’re not a GMKA guy, but I absolutely don’t buy into the offer sheet hype as the reason why the Sabres were not aggressive with their cap space.
  23. If Adams hadn’t done that, we would have been so screwed if Byram had received an $11 million offer-sheet.
