Agreed defense is important. How long has ka been gm? I haven't been asking for a top 1-3 goaltender. Anywhere in the top 15 would have been nice. I can't even count the number of games where our goalie would make a great save and the team would be flying and within five minutes let in a soft goal. Players loose faith in inconsistent goaltending. This has happened every year since Ullmark. That's on ka.

I pretty much think this is the way the division is going to go this year. The teams are much more even in maturity and player quality. Florida is hurt, Tampa has little depth. Toronto misses Marner. As down as the Bruins are they still can win on any given night. Wonder if Tampa and Florida are regretting the pre season war they had? No super teams no walkovers will make for an interesting year.

True to a point. Your defense will ruin good goaltending if it keeps giving up high danger chances. Watch any game last year's and tell me how many odd man rushes off turnovers you see. Then compare to now. And as for who is or isn't a moron, finding good goaltending isn't like buying groceries. It's like complaining the Bills didn't just go out and get a Josh Allen earlier.

Started 0-3 last year too, but it was a totally different vibe. They were playing well, but just getting OK GTing and taking badly timed penalties. This time they were playing awful hockey in front of excellent GTing. Getting better effort starting in game 4 plus putting 3 guys that will buzz the net on the PP that game too while still getting the GTing have resulted in them looking night & day better. Expect they can keep up the effort. No data on if the GTing can stay great. If they can, well the division is very middling. Tonight would be a great night to get the 1st road win. REALLY hope Ellis gets the start.

If you recall, after 8 games last year, they were 0 for 22 on the PP; this year, they have 6 PP goals. Despite the criticism, their special teams is a big part of this year's start (even though, they also started 0-3 last year).

He should have one ENG from last night. His shot is heavy enough to beat a goalie on the bench. And he's had a few solid chances at rebounds in close.

Because it was an Espn game I could go back and look what went wrong here. The Sabres were changing and Dahlin instead of staying behind the net and working with whomever would be coming on he pushed up the side wall. Two Leafs were in the zone and started to come at him. Two more were on his side of the ice in the neutral zone. Having no apparent outlet he does the flip. Lindy always want's them to rush out of the zone. Not sure if that's the excuse but certainly there was better play to be made from the get go. Dahlin does flip the puck way more than he should.

Last year, Mrtka turned the Thunderbirds season around mid-year. This year, he gets to start earlier. The T-Birds currently sit in second-to-last place in the Western Conference. Cootes has played 3 games after his time up. Re-enter Mrtka shortly.

I've been preaching this for years. Your goalie loses or wins you more games than any other player on the ice. KA is a moron.

I had to catch up last night. (It's high school football season.) We are still making mistakes but, unlike before, we come back and make plays to fix them.

It's awful thus far. MTL at +5 and BUF at +1 are the only two teams with plus goal differentials. Meanwhile in the Metro the only team with a negative goal differential is CLB at -1. Keep banking points now through BOS, because then they play one division game (DET 11/15) until the end of December. Ideally, they get a 6-8 point cushion and float over the bottom 5 in the division all year....

Would be perfectly fine w/ UPL watching tonight's game from the bench. Not thrilled with the possibility he'll watch from between the pipes. Let him have Tuesday's game if you feel you must.

With a loss tonight and wins by some of our competitors we can slip several places in the standings. Islanders and Flyers are playing each other and one will pass us. Toronto will pass us, Panthers could pass us, Senators could pass us. It really is another big game Just win, baby!

Saw him play in Rochester last night. Big, tough dude but he might be the slowest skater in professional hockey. Woof.

Benson returned to the lineup in game 4. He accelerated the tone Doan has brought and kicked in the scoring. It reset the first line and allowed everyone else to just do their job. Since game 5 both Power and Samuelsson have been healthy for each game (they were both in the lineup for Boston). Toss in above average goaltending and stir.

I'd hope he's got a good support system here. Nice thing with modern tech, he can see her every day.
