Oh *****, you said the quiet part out loud. His secondary assist rate gave me pause. His sh% is probably only 1 or 2 goals over what it should be but he's gotta keep up the volume of shots. Is Peterka a 30g, 45a player with limited defense? Or is he a 25g, 30a player with limited defense? As I said before though, if you're trading Peterka, Adams better be right. I think this trade is missing a 2nd rounder. Again, more than half his assists are secondary. Peterka had 18primary and 23secondary Benson had 14primary and 4secondary while getting less toi. Just some food for thought.

I quite like this trade... Im a bit of JJ-skeptic. I think he's a good supporting piece but him and Thompson reminded me of Kunitz and Crosby (obviously not to the same level). We got a young big-two way right shot defence man. We should be trading Byram for a top 6 player and ideally trade 9 for another top 6 player. Imagine if we could sign Gavrikov and our top four is suddenly: Dahlin - Kesslering Power - Gavrikov With a top 6 of: Tuch - Norris - Thompson Benson - Rossi - Someone Not awful...

What does this mean? You make it seem like 78 points for 5 years and losing your top assist-making budding star forward is the best we could hope for. we were told this was Adams plan for YEARS, remember? “Youngest team in hockey”. That’s why we couldn’t win in the now - remember? We had to wait on these players, we’d be good when they got older; we were saving money for them. you CANNOT pull the rug out from under feet after and say “well you don’t get to keep them”… what? That’s what you said the plan was! No. No no no. No way - our second leading scorer and highest scorer of those precious RFAs? “You were never going to keep them” is patently nonsense when we were told we had to save money so we COULD keep them - you get that that would COMPLETELY TANK THE JUSTIFICATION FOR THE FIRST 5 YEARS OF ADAMS’ PLAN, right? And he’d still be the GM lol. It would *prove* we should have been trying and spending back then, considering NOT doing so did little to prevent the “we’ll lose them!” fear mongering result, anyways. Might as well have tried ONCE, no? I’ll go insane literally if this can’t be understood - the biggest knife to the gut isn’t actually losing JJ, it’s the in-real-time demonstration of why not trying before so as to “not mortgage the future” was a colossally judged mistake and the fact the same folks keep the reigns is beyond sad.

Thorny, I didn’t get what he wanted, nor did I not get what I wanted. Frankly speaking, the Sabres weren’t going to be able to keep all these young 1st rdrs. Some were getting moved, if it’s Peterka, so be it. The team has finished poorly each season, and while that is most certainly not on Peterka, moves need to be made to try and stop that.

I think the telling point is how fast Peterka signs the extension with Utah which tells me he either wanted out badly or Kevy was offering low ball garbage money. Utah obviously thinks highly of Peterka as I do. Kesselring is fine but he's not going to change things in any big way. Doan I know nothing about. I suspect that might mean there's not much to know. This doesn't get us in the playoffs. Might make us worse.

Ya, whoever that was. Mr. 20 posts do me a favour? Post more. Why are all these takes coming out of the woodwork only when they can be in pure opposition to the *rightful* reaction from the fanbase that the trade is a complete farce? Just be the board. Take it- change the mindset of the fan to being representative of what it should be - an acknowledgment of that whatever the team does it’s actually all ok. we probably got the 2 best players in the deal and dealt the 3rd best, I totally agree Have at it you guys - you’ve got what you wanted. For just the board in general

Thank you for a good point - in response to whoever called my post a burner account… peterkas metrics away from Thompson are actually worse than Byram away from Dahlin. But I’m to one who’s an idiot…there is a real chance that JJ is not as good as his stat numbers looked last year if you look at the underlying statistics. of course I would love to have gotten the fourth pick as well, but if other teams know what those metric say then there’s no way we are getting the two pieces we got plus a top five draft pick. also McLeod does not need to play in the top 6 now ( to whoever said that) - they need to do their job and get another top six player and everything will be quite good. We actually have an extra $5 million to spend towards that cause and probably will have about $10 million of space after our rfas ( depending on what we get back for Byram) We should all be super pissed if they do not spend this money, but they haven’t not spent it yet
