It’s a time honored tradition in most professional sports. And those higher paid vets return the favor over the course of a season.

I say yes. Adding Tuch and Norris should energize this tired group for its last game on this extended road trip. This battered group needs some positivity for its long flight back. Question: Are players allowed to drink on team flights? -
Everyone knows that I am a harsh critic of KA. However, that doesn’t mean 😪 that I don’t have some empathy for the public flogging he is getting. He should never have been placed in the position that he was manifestly unqualified for. The worst part of his hiring is that it has been going on for so long. He never should have been hired for the position and he never should have accepted it when offered.

Following 12 days spent across six cities and four different time zones, the Buffalo Sabres conclude their season-long road trip on Sunday against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena. Alex Tuch and Josh Norris both could be in the lineup after practicing on Saturday, coach Lindy Ruff said. Tuch missed Thursday’s win in Vancouver due to an illness. Norris has missed the last two games due to what Ruff described as a combination of illness and injury. With no morning skate, Ruff said a decision on both players will be made pregame. Noah Östlund also factored into the team’s lines at practice on Saturday following a recall from Rochester. Seattle ranks last in the NHL with 73 goals scored – a reality that’s only been amplified by recent injuries to forwards Jaden Schwartz and Jared McCann. They lost in Utah on Friday. That loss marked the continuation of what’s been a challenging season at both ends of the ice for the Kraken. At all strengths, their -44 differential in high-danger chances ranks last in the league. The next closest team, Utah, is -26. Kraken is a dumb name. Go Sabres.

Veteran players can afford it even more.

Yes. It didn’t take long to recognize that he didn’t know what he was doing. The confusion in the organization started right away with the Lafontaine saga that ended with a settlement that included a non-disclosure clause. The Pegula franchise has always been known for its instability and foolishness. The inexplicable hiring of KA to be the GM was odd, reckless and jaw dropping stupid. It really doesn’t take much talent to recognize stupendous incompetence. It’s there for everyone to see.

Colten Ellis has been placed on... injured reserve

Good for you, I was just passing along info on how the system worked, no credit needed -
They know which players are making league minimum and which signed for 7-figures.

Have the dinner. Let the vets gorge themselves scaring the bejezus out of the rookies with the potential bill. When the check comes to the table, let Dahlin pick up the tab. Change the name to the Captain’s Dinner.
-
The minimum NHL salary is roughly $4K per day. Between his NHL per diem and getting his brief pay in NHL dollars, even a guy like Kuntar would probably break even. Plus my experience is that NHL players are more caring of their rookie teammates than their football brethren. They won’t bankrupt the kids.
-
Like I said, you can lose with him and you can lose without him.
-
Rookies still make good money. They can afford it.
-
I may sound like a spoilsport but I don’t like the tradition where lesser paid rookies end up shelling out for richer and older players while they pig out and drink expensive beverages. It should be the other way around where the younger players are embraced as teammates and are taken care of.

A Gorditos burrito could feed a hockey player.

The Wild are all-in. Fun target for Tuch.... The problem is they've got NTCs and NMCs like they don't have palm trees. Tarasenko has a M-NTC (signed from Yzerman). But they definitely need an upgrade from Tarasenko or Marcus Johansson in their top 6 if they really want to get past Colorado.

Snow in the forecast. Could be another adventure.

Dinner was at Tiki Taco. Bill was $88.50
