Nesbitt is over drafted. That pick will age like milk. Martone isn't any more physical than Mrtka. Amico is like Bedkowski, big mean rhd.

I don't see us spending a ton in free agency so unless something big still happens we will be well below the cap. I suppose he might dump a pile of cash at Byram and keep him but we still won't spend to the cap.

Yes Philly did, but in this draft it's all size and meanness. I have seen the D moves but I think Clifton was overly maligned in a bad system, I don't like Timmins he's worse than Jokiharju was. Kesselring I like, but I do not think he's as good as some here think either. We still have Samuelsson and imo the D isn't all that much better and is still dependent on Power being better. Which might happen, but might not. The draft picks are all way down the road guys.

Clifton for Timmins straight up was never happening.

But round 3. Lesser version. I hope he works out and develops into an NHL player but he's going to take years to get there. I don't like this trade. I think Kettles will be better than Timmins (for example).

Tantrums are ubiquitous. They spill over all the threads. With respect to adding Timmins and dispatching Clifton, if this is more of a financial than a personnel transaction, I will be furious. I can't comment on what this trade does for the team because I'm not familiar with this player. What I'm expecting is another deal or two that will upgrade the roster. If there isn't much of a follow up by the GM, then I will place the blame on the owner.

Everything I ever hear about Marner is that he either is looking for or should be looking for shorter term so he can cash out on the bigger cap coming up. If he signs for anything less than 8 years, I have no idea why he would work with Toronto/Vegas on this.

To anyone upset about this trade... Check all the advanced and not-so advanced stats. Timmins is a good 3rd pair D. Clifton wasn't. All the Leafs fans I know liked him. Sounds like Pens fans liked him too. I don't think anyone anywhere has liked Clifton. Lots of reasons to be upset with the team so I get the frustration, but this is a small win for us.

I don't have any issues with this pick. In the very least he will balance out Rochester's team balance eventually. Maybe make the NHL and be a solid bottom guy.

Have you not seen the Sabres D moves? Also didn't Philly trade for Zegras? Also Martone isn't that nasty and Nesbitt isn't a 1st round talent. Nesbitt was a bad pick.

Except he passed on some big (and mean) RHD at the top of the round to trade for cast off RHD and he shipped out our own tiny RHD and dumped the soft one last year so are we actually any better???

This trade is a confusing head scratcher for me. I could almost understand trading Clifton for Timmins, but then trading a 2nd round pick for an ECHL defenseman doesn't make sense. I think Pittsburgh got the better side of the trade for sure. Kevyn Adams is dumping salary successfully and Pegula seems fine with that.
