  1. Past hour
  2. Well ya, so putting that in the worst way, a tired old man with a chance to pad his retirement account working from home. So he took the job.
  3. I keep seeing things like this and I have a hard time believing it. Active? With Kevyn Adams? With no coaching changes? I will believe these things when they happen.
  4. Now I’m getting into speculation territory. I think Ruff is at the stage/age where it appealed to him to go into a situation that was set-up. No interviews, no decisions about letting a coach go, no having to call coaches and break the news that he is “going in another direction”. It’s a variation of what you are saying.
  5. They hired Bylsma because they didn't get Babcock and he was last notable coach remaining. Had won with Crosby so the thinking was win with Eichel. They fired him because there was no progress at a point when there was greater expectation after drafting Eichel (and we already had Reinhart, O'Reilly etc.) After more than a decade of failure the bar for success has been drastically lowered, that's obvious. DeBoer will never happen here.
  6. These things happen and who knows. I know nothing about him so can't say if we screwed up or not. I'm really interested to see if this Shabanov guy (supposedly linked to the Flyers) will come over and can he play. Supposed to be incredibly skilled, was just passed over for size. I only put it here cause it's not worth it's own thread on a Sabres site.
  7. This is never going to happen. TP is never going to hire a defense first guy like DeBoer and he is most definitely not spending big coin on a high profile coaching hire.
  8. I hate to say it but this narrative makes it even worse than if they didn't let him pick his own assistants. This tells me his day was truly done and he was no longer connected the way he used to be. A has been and people didn't want to come to the Sabres or work with him and he knew it.
  9. I dont care about any of it, get rid of KA!
  10. lol, please, don't do that internet tough guy garbage. We all know you're in your mom's basement. Let's be real about hockey. Marchand will be in the hall of fame one day. If he was a Sabre he'd an all time fan favorite. All we can hope for is 20 years from now we will look at Benson or somebody else on this roster in a similar way. Right now? We got nothing comparable.
  11. Some folks look in the mirror and hate what they see so much they have to lash out at the people like them.
  12. I have no idea of what really happened, but lets assume for a moment that there was no option for change and it was a take it or leave it scenario for Ruff. This notion is typically presented in defense of Ruff: "What's Lindy supposed to do, he didn't even get to choose his own coaches". If true, I see it as an indictment of Ruff, and not a defense. It's pathetic.
  13. How the hell did that show up as a quote of mine?
  14. FFS! Kevyn: “We got our guy right here Terry. Thinking Penn State you know that means he’ll want to be a Sabre with you leading the charge Terry.” Trade the pick for a real piece now. If they keep it, please not Jackson Smith. Nice player but an LHD that will see the league in 3 years time, God No.
  15. Ugh. He apparently isn’t aware that Lake Ontario has good populations of both salmon and walleye. We’re doomed.
  16. I’m not going to get into details, but “allegedly” Ruff would go into the office of a colleague of his and vent about how he hated being “stuck” with his assistants.
  17. This is probably in the not worth our time category. Marjala is likely, at best, to reach the level of Lawrence Pilut or Artuu Ruostalainan as a North American prospect. It does reflect a little bit though, of how playoff and championship calibre teams operate v. teams like the Sabres. The Oilers have 3 picks in the forthcoming draft (rd 3, 6, 7). The Sabres currently have 10 picks (choose your metaphor: hamster wheel? treadmill? merry go-round?). If you are the Oilers, why hold mid-round picks when you can just wait for a team like the Sabres to pass on signing a 5th rd pick who, by any reasonable measure, has significantly outperformed their draft position.

  19. If into the security press conference recordings you go, only pain will you find.
  20. I, as most everyone, am sympathetic to his tough family situation. But it should be acknowledged that right from the start of his ownership he has made a lot of perplexing decisions that has anchored this franchise to the bottom of the heap. Being preoccupied with a serious family situation should have been a greater reason to find competent staff to guide the franchise. He did the opposite. Not trying to be mean-spirited but I wish he would sell.
  21. And it is easy for us to forget Kim’s situation and the emotional toll and time that takes on him.
  22. yup, and a team that wants to win right now will make a move to get him.
  23. I have no doubt Pegula has Appert penciled in as next HC. He seems to fall for charismatic people. He hired Lafontaine based on one chance meeting where he was blown away by his charisma. I’m sure he sees the same in Seth. Just hire DeBoer and get serious about being a serious organization.
  24. Thanks @Archie Lee, upon further review Adams does indeed indicate that Lindy wanted to "get to know" the staff and he could have made changes. Given that no changes have been made so far we can assume Lindy is on board with this group. I should have taken your advice and not re-watched the rest of it.
