Not open to trading Quinn, Kulich or Power. These three players are ironclad do not move players for me. That is not to say that I won’t consider other high end prospects and draft picks as currency to get more immediate help.

Good news! Sabres not the youngest NHL team but...

200 games to find your way in the NHL, 400 to be a “veteran”. Zucker 770 Tuch 536 Dahlin 509 Thompson 448 Greenway 435 McLeod 298 Krebs 296 Bryson 254 Byram 246 Power 242 Norris 239 Samuelsson 212 Less than 200 Quinn, Doan, Benson, Kulich, Danforth, Kesselring, Malenstyn, Timmins So literally every add this summer is inexperienced. -
I saw something on Twitter yesterday to the effect that the team's confirmed through unnamed sources that the red helmet isn't returning this season -- that the alternate helmet will be a white helmet with the charging buffalo that's decal'd in that ... multi-tone grey/silver (??) that you see in so much sports merchandise nowadays. I don't give a hoot if the red helmet comes back. But, for the sake of the many Bills fans who want it, I hope they do bring it back at some point. Maybe with the new stadium?

this made me chuckle - not gonna lie. -
I’m not sure I’ve cared about anything less. Bring back all those fond memories of teams dropping 50 burgers in the Super Bowl on thenBills head. Such good memories. I didn’t watch the Four Falls nonsense for the same reason. I don’t need the heartache…again.

Trading is one option, but GM'S cannot be so risk averse when it comes to signing 30+ year old Dmen. Something Adams could have done over the last 3 offseasons -
You have to find teams that want to do that. Right now that leaves you Pittsburgh and maybe Calgary.
-
Oh I think you can bet on Greenway, Norris and Muel all on IR at somepoint this season... for sure.

The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?
Drag0nDan replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
So many "if's" on this roster If they can get the PP into the top half of the league, that would probably = another 10ish goals. If they do the same with the PK, that's probably another 10ish saved. They were -20 in goal differential, so that alone is very important. If UPL/Lyon/Levi can go from bottom 2 or 3 in the league to league average - that'd probably be 30 or so goals fewer ( i used .902 as the team SV% vs. .888) If all those things happen, i think they're playoff bound regardless of the loss of some of the 5on5 scoring. Doing better than 6-13-3 against your own division (other than ottawa), would probably help jump a bit up the standings. -
And this is why the Sabres are stuck where they are. Adams has been too worried about prospects blooming elsewhere. Who cares. They need to win now. Trade younger promising players for good established players.

Guys, you complain about lack of aggression and about the front office’s lack of prioritizing it. You complain about lack of NHL experience in the front office. Then you complain when they hire a front-office vet and he talks about the importance of natural aggression?

Please let it be the Red Helmet!

The Bills have been teasing a new alternate helmet for this year. And I think this is a teaser. As a guy who was a kid in the 90’s, I will be PUMPED if they bring back the red helmet!

Generally agree with your point, but McLeod and Zucker did outpoint Mitts and Skinner, Norris did outscore Cozens and Kulich matched Olofsson -

Like I said, this is something that a GM of a fringe major junior hockey team knows. "You can teach a guy to dial it back, but it's much harder to teach a guy to dial it up." I've been hearing variations of that for decades. -

It had absolutely had the feel of -- "Jarmo, can you repeat what you just said [to the three guys nearest him] so we can get it for the video the social media team is putting out?" Also, the phrasing has a nice flair to it and Jarmo's a respected figure -- but that quote is the most basic personnel wisdom you'll ever come across. -

They have to really, really hunker down defensively (the roster should be better at it than in years previously. Instead of Granato teaching them to play defense, it's a bunch of new guys.) However, none of these moves are goalies, which probably makes the greatest impact by an individual in terms of being hard to play against. What I do see in that list is that in nearly every instance it's a downgrade in points scored, the exceptions being Danforth, Byram (EJ never got 1st pair/Dahlin time), and Kesselring. -

You can’t add good players without trading good players. If there is a flaw in my idea, it’s that Quinn and Samuelsson are not likely viewed as being good players by the rest of the league. -

Are the Sabres harder to play against? In/out since trade deadline 2024, when they seemed to start thinking this was a thing: Granato for Ruff Christie for Appert Cozens for Norris Mittelstadt for McLeod Skinner for Zucker Peterka for Doan Olofsson for Kulich Girgensons for Danforth Okposo for Malenstyn Erik Johnson for Byram Jokiharju for Kesselring Clifton for Timmins Im thinking incrementally but not dramatically? To my eyes Olofsson and Mittelstadt are two of the least edgy players we’ve had and Peterka and Skinner among the least diligent defensively. But it’s not like they’ve added a ton of edge with the guys they’ve brought in. Also, Peterka Cozens Mittelstadt and Skinner represent a pretty significant exodus in terms of “running it back” up front. New coach plus Cozens, Girgensons and Okposo all wore letters marks a real leadership shift. Half the D is new. This might not be a better hockey team, but these are not Donnie Granato’s Sabres. -
Idk if I would go as far as staged. I think it was deliberately picked to showcase both Jarmo and the stuff you are alluding too "tougher to play against".
