  1. Past hour
  2. Their track record is not using available cap space to upgrade the team. That has been a major issue and a pet peeve of mine. I am not holding my breath but there may be UFAs to sign and maybe Jarmo engineers a move for Robertson or another expensive top six forward. The opening night roster and record after 20 or so games will be heavily scrutinized.
  3. I honestly have never liked the core of young players we’ve had and have been skeptical of what they’re capable of as a unit. I had hope around the 2023 season but I knew we still needed several other players that could bring what’s needed especially come playoff time. These are soft, entitled, young dudes who got paid way too early. And we still have the ones that I actually like like Thompson and Rasmus. I honestly did not like JJ and I watched him specifically the last couple years anytime he was on the ice and he was the laziest player I’ve ever seen
  4. What happens if Doan gives us a 15g 25a season and Peterka puts up a 25g, 25a season?
  5. Last year they saved money and didn't do anything with the savings. There's savings here, but you really can't strike out in free agency again.
  6. He has a draft eligible kid already? I just assumed his son was 3 when I read that first post. Next you’ll be telling me that Drury’s grandson is an option in the 3rd round.
  7. Possibly. Please bookmark this one and wave it in my face next week. And/or again in December.
  8. I commented on pretty frequently in the game threads about how JJ was on the ice and often involved in terrible goals against because of his laziness. It may have gotten more pronounced toward the end of the year where he had already given up, but I’ve noticed it the whole time he’s been a player here. He’s had a noticeable entitlement to be honest. Like he’s too good to even attempt to be a two-way player. Everybody’s focusing on the offensive potential, but the guy has been a liability on the ice the entire time he’s been here. I want a team that plays like a team like Florida not a bunch of entitled first round picks. I would make the argument that he’s genuinely part of the problem and I don’t really care that he’s gone. Might not be the best argument, but it’s my argument.
  9. I would think so!! Byrum is a top 2 dman. That and 2 firsts should get a good forward!
  10. I do think that’s it’s pretty clear that they are moving away from that team that looks the other way while Thompson and Dahlin get mugged. The question is just how many goals need to be removed from the scoresheet to accomplish that.
  11. Could Byrum next year 1st and #9 this year get a top line forward or would we have to add more?
  12. It doesn’t matter. They made the trade under the knowledge they were taking a hit on return to save money. They don’t believe we got fair value - they are just hoping the value is close enough they can get lucky. Awful and insulting team building practices to the fans. If it works out it’s probably a negative on the macro: they’ll be encouraged to think they can further get away with cost cutting maneuvers Tell yourself whatever you want. That you are just clinging to hope. That’s what they want. I’m guilty of it too. I’m a hypocrite. We know they are counting on us ignoring the fact their goal is saving. I am doing my utmost to break this habit
  13. I don't want Muel either, but my guess is that he is still the "plan" as far as Dahlin's partner. Byrum hopefully gets moved for a top 6 forward. Muel stays because GMKA basically denied a buyout is happening and nobody will otherwise trade for his contract. That said, I hope somehow Muel gets a lobotomy and starts playing with more grit and jam.
  14. Maybe they just did a ***** job and we're wondering if there is a slim chance this might help fix it?
  15. It's nice seeing the analysis come in that make this trade seem a little more sane. I have no affinity for most of the Sabres as I find them to be a catastrophically soft team despite their ability to score a boatload of goals. So I don't really care if guys like Peterka get moved. He had flashes of real skill, but I can't say he was all that compelling. Certainly not a guy you'd point to and say "he's key to winning a playoff series." Maybe he'll get there, who knows. Utah thinks so, I guess. Good for them.
  16. Guessing JJ wanting out was a mutual feeling with Lindy with Hamilton saying JJ didn’t like Lindy. Wild guess is they disagreed over defense. Ignoring the return (and as a wise poster above mention 30 other GMs had a chance to offer more), this trade seems to trend our team toward playing NHL type hockey.
  17. Exactly!!! Not to mention he was a tire fire defensively. Both players brought in have what this team needs. Some smart physicality and they are both tenacious! Doan forechecks like crazy and has decent speed. In this case i think we were overvaluing JJ. I still think we need to add another Solid Dman and a goal scorer. I have zero faith in Adams, but holds on to a bit of hope he can get this fixed.
  18. Cons: I'm going to miss "meesa Jar Jar Peterka! Meesa score bombad goals!" and the Peterka Puts It Away cat. Pros: He's the d-man that made the Kesselring in less than 12 parsecs! He's a spice mine! So... it'll all work itself out on the board.
  19. On today’s menu: JJ Peterka, addition by subtraction eat up. Mmmm. Gruel. Enabler
  20. Thank you. Didn't feel like looking up the entirety of that trade. GMs over pay all the time even for players with huge ???'s. Even if it was addition by subtraction, the rest of the addition should've been more.
  21. Because we knew the reason was bs for about 2yrs now or more and we've already discussed it. It isn't interesting to go back to the fact Kevyn is full of it.
  22. I think Byram will bring in Dahlins partner, I still think that’s the plan, and I wouldn’t be suprised if it’s someone similiar to Kesserling, but I’m guessing a vet
  23. I don’t know how people can spend time discussing the return, burying the lead that we were specifically lied to, sold a fraudulent, disingenuous bill of goods, and then they took our money and more importantly our time with smiles on their faces, with zero regard for their worth, flushed it down the toilet, and are asking fans to do it again. Discuss the return - you are discussing the merits of the different types of lotion buffalo bill is lowering down into your hole. Go on. Lube up. Or stand up for something.
  24. Lambert at Elite Prospects have Buffalo a B- and Utah a C grade for this trade. Reasons being Peterka's underlying numbers are bad and his shooting might have been lucky. Also he notes that Doans underlying metrics were great and he has some untapped potential coming.
  25. Don't sell the rest of the trade short. Yashin netted Chara, Muckalt, and #2 overall (Spezza). Ottawa got a HOF defenseman and a better center who gave them 11 seasons of point-per-game production.
