  1. Past hour
  2. Byram out for a legit top 4 solid 2 way or defensive D-man that's in or very close to his prime and a 1st makes sense IF that 1st (or the Sabres 1st) is going out the door with Peterka and a piece like Rosen (that ends up the LITTLE bit extra to make the trade happen) for Robertson. It's the ONLY way trading Byram for pieces makes sense if the goal is to make the Sabres better NOW.
  3. You want Casey Mittelstadt on this team?
  4. Which is why, in addition to trying to snag Robertson (or someone else of that pedigree) they should be planning on bringing in another Zucker type (or 2). When THAT guy, or Zucker, is too long in the tooth, then hopefully Helenius will be ready to be a regular contributor on the 3rd line and an in a pinch contributor higher up the lineup.
  5. How about not trading Casey, that would’ve solved this
  6. I don't see anybody in Rochester ready to take a spot next season (not counting Kulich who already likely earned one this year). Maybe Kozak if we don't upgrade the bottom at all and they will likely elevate Levi but I don't think he's ready either. Helenius is 3 years away likely. You could argue 2-4 depending. But not soon. 2-3 years from now.
  7. Kevin Weekes has posted that there is good interest in Byram from plenty of teams, so hopefully that helps with offers
  8. That's not happening. Philly would be interested in moving pick(s) for Byram because they think it's time to start winning (I think they might be premature on this myself and can easily screw it up rushing) but you aren't getting significant roster player(s) for him.
  9. No. Honestly don't believe that ownership realized just how unwatchable it would be. Don't believe Team Stormcloud that was calling for a tank long before it happened realized just how unwatchable it would be either for that matter. And ownership not understanding just what they'd unleashed is IMHO the reason why Regier doing EXACTLY what he'd said he'd do ended up getting himself canned. He literally did what he said he would and presumably upper management & ownership either made the call to burn it all down (far more likely IMHO) or at a minimum agreed with the plan to burn it all down (significantly less likely, but possible) which is why he was burning it down. Regier knew how bad it would be and tried to brace people for it. Personally don't believe the owners nor the Pittsburgh crew knew just how terrible it would be. But they found out pretty quickly. And pretty sure that's why Ruff was fired. They let him get away from the misery he saw coming and seemed to want no part of. They did a mercy Kervorkian on him because he would not pull the plug on his own. EDIT: But also, Regier knew that they'd need goaltending to come back up from the ashes. So he made the team in front of Miller so bad that even he couldn't do much to help them. But he didn't punt Miller. That was the next guy's doing.
  10. That is true in hindsight, but at the time Mitts was not seen that way.
  11. He had breakaway speed before the last knee injury That's his value add
  12. Today
  13. I wouldn't call either of these "fit" in terms of Norris, but valid points nonetheless. Personally, I see Norris as different than say Samuelsson and Greenway, in the sense that he hasn't been prone to multiple injuries. He had a bad shoulder that wasn't properly treated. It's either fixed now or it isn't, and if it is (it held up all year) I don't think he's at any more of a risk than Thompson or Tuch, both of whom lost a ton of games as well to shoulder issues earlier in their careers. You're betting on his surgeon and your doctor.
  14. If we're picking at all in the 1st round this is a failure imo. Draft picks who may or may not be good in 3 years does nothing to help us right now.
  15. Dahlin was ahead ahead of Morrissey in every stat category but games played. Morrissey played on a strong team, and not in Buffalo. I would argue that Dahlin's defensive game, and his physical game is similar to Hedman and better than all of the others. But no one cares who got 2nd or 3rd. Dahlin's only hope at winning a Norris is to play on better dominant team. He won most congenial 7th defender.
  16. I'm excited for us to trade at least one in a package for a top 6.
  17. Philly makes sense but I dont see the fit on return, sure Tyson Forester would be a great return but i doubt they move him We could use Hathaway or DLO for the 4th line Seeler and Sanheim both have no moves with Sanheim blocking a trade to st louis last year so forsure he would block one here unless we want Risto back I just dont see the fit I do see a Philly trade that would work being Samulssen for Hathaway or DLO, get Sammy to the org where his dad works, they apparently were interested last year, and just getting Hathaway or DLO accounts for his low value, but also gives us something we are missing for the 4th line, and frees up a bit of cap space in the process
  18. I would love to see a new Blue and Gold where it is just Adams telling Jarmo his trade ideas and the camera just pans in on Jarmo’s facial reactions.😁
  19. Shawn Bryson is more likely to get voted over Jacob.
  20. For me it’s a guy making $8 million a year and has only passed 35 points in a season once. Couple that with a guy who can’t stay healthy to save his life and you are “hoping” that he somehow comes around.
  21. From a roster building standpoint, trading Mitts for Byram didn’t help much. From an asset standpoint, they got a highly moveable, valuable asset for a player that appears to be playing his way out of the league.
  22. None of those options. I think all coaches stay and they make a few minor defensive tweaks to the roster.
  23. Why was trading him for Mitts smart? This put everything on Cozens and Cozens didn't deliver. That's a mistake. I'm not a Mitts fan and I was actually laughing today listening to a Marco Sturm interview where he said, about Mitts, "I am going to talk to him and we will see. He has to be better". Byram was not the guy we needed and Mitts removal created a hole. Now it's Norris. It's not improvement, it's just rearranging and staying the same.
  24. Who else fits the bill as a solid 2 way 1st line forward other than Jason Roberstson who's been rumored to be on the trade block? Because right now Robertson is the only player I'm trading him for. I'd definitely not be dealing him for draft picks, I don't think trading him makes much sense unless it's a player of Robertson's caliber.
  25. Probably but if the rumor of a lower first is a thing Philly has those assets and their D isn't deep. Byram could be their #1 PP guy and take the pressure off Drysdale. I could see the interest from them in any event.
  26. By fit, I mean Norris health is a high risk, if he is not available he has little value. Is he ever going to be a reliable top 6 center? The two teams swapped high salaried players that they didn't like anymore. With Byram, one year after the trade Adams goes on to say he was sure how to use him. Did he trade Mitts for him because he would win the trade or did he get a defenseman that he needed? I do not get any sense of comfort that he is building an NHL roster that can compete. I think they had a very weak center spline last season and so apparently did Lindy. They gave up on Cozens, moved Kulich from wing to center, and moved Tage from center to wing. One bright spot was McLeod. I like Norris when he is healthy but he is a risky player to carry as your 1C/2C. I just get no semblance of a plan to build a winning team.
