The Adams approach to goaltending... ...for a franchise that had Hasek and Miller for 20 seasons. And Ullmark ready to go for five more.

Sabres Waiver Claim Colten Ellis
French Collection replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
TP is gonna be p****d if Georgiev and Bryson are waived after signing NHL contracts. KA foolishly throwing his money in the toilet. -
I wonder what Levi thinks of this move.
-
Gotta have an Ellis in the organization at all times
-
I hope it means Georgiev never sees the light of day in blue and gold. It probably means that they are absolutely desperate and they just hope something sticks.

It's the "Reverse Reimer" from last year. Ellis' numbers are lightyears ahead of Luukkonen's... in the AHL. They'll waive him back to St. Louis in a month unless he's just a lights-out goalie. I guess they don't want to risk having Levi play in the NHL this season and accumulate games accrued toward losing waivers exemption. But, hopefully this (temporarily) solves the issue that Adams cannot ever solve. Luukkonen to IR, play Lyon, waive Georgiev to the AHL where if he doesn't report, no worries and no loss. Roll two goalies and keep Levi marinating for later.

McDavid signed that deal as a symptom of the fact Bowman specifically *didn’t* do a good job. What do you think the deal and term looks like if the Oilers had won a cup? So Bowman failing to craft a team worthy of the talents of McDavid results in him signing an even better deal? Doesn’t make any sense. It’s purely a commentary on McDavid choosing to give the team one more small chance. Any GM in Edmonton would have gotten the same deal, as it’s a McDavid call - - - *obviously* the oilers would be after a long term deal if they could get it. The, what, 6-8 million they are saving for 2 years is a *small pittance* relative to the potential lost income from losing said best player in the world that the franchise would see in ticket sales and marketing should they let him get away. “They’ll save some salary cap for 2 years” is myopic. Not to mention, McDavid is 28 not 38 lol. They’d need to be exploring dealing him at 30 should this window not pan out. “Best years” is rich when I’d imagine McDavid’s trajectory would compare much more likely to Sid Crosby’s and his *best* years were arguably in his 30s

Ellis’s numbers in the AHL last year comp to Devon Levi (Devon is a full year younger). CE: 42GP, 22W 14L 3OT 3SO, GAA 2.63, .922 Sv Pct DL: 42GP, 25W 13L 4OT 7SO, GAA 2.20, .917 Sv Pct -
McDavid extends for 2 years at $12.5m per year

ugh - once again, I am the stick in the mud! -
Adams playing 3D chess? In that if he waives 2 goalies, at least one will make it through? I know nothing of the player.

It was intended as humorous based on the post I replied to. -
The Matt Ellis of waiver claims, at least.

There's a 7.5% chance that Norris and Thompson both meet or exceed 74 games played this season (provided the league has a full 82-game slate). If someone (Benson at the moment) manages to stick on their line all season and they're all healthy, I'd wager that player would out-point Peterka's 68 from last year. Note: Benson would be hard-pressed to get 68 until he gets meaningful PP time, but I'd think he'd easily eclipse Peterka's 29 EV assists from last season with a healthy Norris/TNT. But of course, this is the abandon hopium thread, and that 92.5% is much, much more likely to happen.

A minor technicality

Anyone could have signed the best hockey player in the world for 12.5M for the best remaining years in his career when Kaprizov is getting 17M? I always knew you get the "better stuff" in BC.

If feel like another GM picking up the phone and talking to McDavid (his agent, really) while under contract with the Oilers is a major rule violation that could forfeit draft picks ... probably why no one did it. Edit: As per usual the carefully crafted snark and humorous sarcasm of the post I replied to went right over my head ... oops! -
Sabres Waiver Claim Colten Ellis
Mustache of God replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
Since they claimed him it means they have to keep him on the roster, correct? This tells me UPL is out longer and they're letting on....AND we're still running 3 goalies, unless they release Georgiev. -

25 year old third round pick back from the 2019 draft. Never played an NHL game. Already better than Georgiev. -
Could he be the Matt Ellis of goaltenders???
-
It might even be a home country discount.
-
On the off chance I am included in anybody's "anyone" the defends TPegs - my point with the financial data is that it is total BS if he is crying poor to be cheap with the Sabres. They are cashflow positive even with this putrid product of the last several years.
