LabattBlue
He is averaging almost 31 minutes a game( and oh by the way, he is a -6). Maybe this is just a case of Boston trying to get their money's worth? ;)
inkman
Is Boston trying to kill Chara?? Hopefully. a#$^$#!e. (not you, him)
Alaska Darin
Well, they don't really have to save him for the playoffs
jwrak
Thats not that much when you have to factor in that it takes him 5 mins to reach the bench on a change
FogBat
Thats not that much when you have to factor in that it takes him 5 mins to reach the bench on a change That's really being facetious. However, he is the tallest player in the league, and size can have plenty to say about speed (or, shall we say, the lack thereof).
Crestwood
They also made him captain, according to Rob Ray on the pregame show the other night. If I were one of the veteran B's (Murray, Axelsson), that wouldn't sit well with me. As the Sabres have proven, success has a lot to do with chemistry. JCBoston
As the Sabres have proven, success has a lot to do with chemistry. Not to mention speed. By the way, my name is Jason Pominville. Has anyone seen my 7-foot-tall traffic cone?

You would actually let something so small get in the way of the team? Can we trade you to another message board?
Bmwolf21
I cannot wait until our first NESN broadcast featuring Brickley and Edwards overexaggerating how much the Chara pickup means to the B's...bet there are no mentions of how Pommer used him as a pylon in LY's playoffs... :worthy:

Bmwolf21
You're right that Pommer went around Alfredsson on the GW goal, but does it really matter? Throughout most of the series Sabres forwards used Chara as a pylon.

They used NESN. I think they pretty much always do for the Sabres against the Bruins.
Bmwolf21
Sorry I missed that... maybe I should travel back home for every game against the Bruins... :P Besides, tonight is the first Center Ice game this year for me (outside of the free preview.) With our travel, the games on Vs. and the switch from cable to DirecTV we waited until now to order the package. I am pumped to watch it again... shrader
My memory's shot. Wasn't it Alfredsson and Redden on the Pommer goal?
Bmwolf21
, sir...Redden never gave Alfredsson any help once Pommer cut around him...a weak stick swipe was all he did.

shrader
If I paid for Charra what they paid, he would be playing goal and taking face offs too. Yeah, but they're also paying Savard $5 million knowing that he'll never actually cross the red line.
hopeleslyobvious
Yeah, but they're also paying Savard $5 million knowing that he'll never actually cross the red line. Come on now. He has to cross the red line during the 2nd period to change lines.
shrader
Come on now. He has to cross the red line during the 2nd period to change lines. Actually, I was shocked to see him break up a Sabres possession in the Boston zone last week. I just assumed that he got confused, kind of like that one football player years ago who picked up a fumble and ran it back the wrong way.

Thanks for setting me straight, though I wasn't referring specifically to that goal... Just about every Sabre forward skated circles around the big lug.
