Re-Signing Alert: Ales Kotalik

Wow! A player with 25 goals and 62 points only signs for $2.33 year. Using the B-Rod model you would think he was good for $5.5 - $6 a year. <_<

He has value as a scorer, but what else does he do? Kill penalties? Good checker? Not really. I bet Donald Audette is watching all this and wishing he were ten years younger

Just got back from a short vacation. I can only say that I hope this signing increases his trade value now that he is under contract for 3 years. He is the most one dimensional players on the Sabres. He takes many nights off and does not seem to buy into the Lindy Ruff system of hard work. He is not a playmaker just because he had 30+ assists. This is nothing more than a by-product of all the PP ice time where he is just passing the puck around the outside.

I realize that if you just look at goal scoring numbers, he is probably worth 2+ million a year, but I bet he brings a decent return in terms of a more well rounded player.

PS The only thing about Kotalik that stands out is how many sticks he breaks.
