It’s Tage. He cannot be the culture setter in the room. IMHO.

The issue is Tage doesn’t know any better. He could be that leader, but he developed in this mess and what he sees is normal to him. Same for Dahlin. We need a leader to come from the outside. Preferably with the coach and GM that made him a leader.

He's ballast.

In a word.

Well done, Pimlach.

There still has to be something there that can be fixed, doesn't there?

For all th back and forth about Terry v Adams and meddling v absent, it's clear Terry groomed Adams for this role. They are in absolute lock step. Theres no side to pick. It's a circle.

The team is built in Terry's vision and Adams absolutely shares Terry's vision. There is some nuance to it. Terry meddles with GMs who don't share his vision and is "absent" with GM's who do.

I don't think Kevyn is a "Yes Man". A yes man implies they just do whatever the boss says. Kevyn 100% believes he's doing a good job, 100% believes he doesn't need more cash, 100% believes all the people are in the building.

So does Terry.

I suspect that any changes will result in Appert as HC and Forton as GM.

@Thorny and @mjd1001 are arguing different sides of the same coin.

There needs to be change at GM. It's our only chance. But the odds of Terry making a good hire and staying out of the way are remarkably low.

Great post. People as a rule seem to have difficulty seeing nuance

the most salient element however is that Adams deserves to be fired..so he should be fired. Even leaving aside the fact it could be reflective of a change of mindset for Terry, or that he could get lucky with a new hire, or that there literally can’t be someone worse - it at the very least shows some element of accountability. That this element is somehow underplayed well escapes me: THE BIGGEST issue with the sabres is lack of expectation and accountability. That’s what put them in this mess. People keep taking about culture - without a level of accountability that doesn’t exist.

Adams is demonstrably bad so he deserves to be fired. “But will the new hire even be better? Terry sucks!” is an elementary level diversion. Of course Terry is the big bad. It does not change the fact that Adams deserves to be fired

we learn at like age 5 that “two wrongs don’t make a right.” Avoiding firing Adams cause it “might not make a difference” is bottom of the barrel thinking. He doesn’t deserve to be GM.

I think you are hitting  on the right points.  Puck battles are a problem.  Slow to get to a loose puck, not working hard enough.

The Power Play is bad and has been for a long time.

I wanted Geertsen to pummel Zadorov, that would have been a worthy contribution because he can’t play a normal 4th line shift.

Puck battles has been the issue for years. They are soft, they quit on plays, they won't battle hard, they won't pay the price. It's not a coincidence that in Bruins discussions they often get to "Mittlestadt doesn't battle hard enough I'm worried about him" and he's actually getting better but is still the most Sabre like. Jokiharju seems to have grown a pair and that might be because he's playing beside Zadorov.

To the last sentence would Geertson pummel Zadorov?

Chara handled him in his old age. Zadorov isn't Chara, but he's younger and he fights pretty good:

Zadorov holds his own against Olivier (who I think is the best fighter in the league):

But Zadorov was smart. Why fight a loser fourth liner? The chirping was hilarious.
