Here's the reply I got to my email to TSN. Blah blah blah is what it says to me.

I agree with everyone who says they should provide a local feed for these games. These games are too important to mess with, and the local feeds definitely won't switch to other games.

==================================================================

Dear Jeff:

Thank you for your email regarding TSN's NHL Playoff coverage on Monday,

April 24.

Due to the large score differential in the Buffalo/Philadelphia game,

(Buffalo was leading 6-1 after two periods), TSN switched to coverage of the

remainder of NY Rangers @ New Jersey. The Rangers/Devils game was not

available nationally in Canada (it was only available on TSN HD), so by

switcing to the Rangers/Devils game, TSN provided viewers with coverage they

wouldn't have been able to see otherwise.

TSN has the broadcast rights to NHL Playoff games (American match-ups) being

played simultaneously. In the best interest of our viewers, TSN will not

stay with a 'blowout' if another game is available.

TSN updated viewers on the Buffalo/Philadelphia game through updates on

SportsCentre, the NHL on TSN Studio Show, and on the Bottomline ticker.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. TSN will televise

the remainder of the Buffalo vs. Philadelphia series, as well as a slew of

other NHL Playoff games, including the first three rounds of the Stanley Cup

Playoffs. Below is TSN's remaining broadcast schedule for the first round of

the NHL Playoffs:

Tuesday, April 25 - Game 3: Nashville @ San Jose at 10:30 p.m. ET

Wednesday, April 26 - Game 3: Buffalo @ Philadelphia at 7 p.m. ET

Wednesday, April 26 - Game 3: Dallas @ Colorado at 9:30 p.m. ET

Thursday, April 27 - Game 4: Nashville @ San Jose at 10:30 p.m. ET

Friday, April 28 - Game 4: Buffalo @ Philadelphia at 7 p.m. ET

Friday, April 28 - Game 4: Dallas @ Colorado at 10 p.m. ET

Saturday, April 29 - Game 4: New Jersey @ New York Rangers at 3 p.m. ET

Sunday, April 30 - Game 5 (if necessary): Philadelphia @ Buffalo at 2 p.m.

ET

Sunday, April 30 - Game 5 (if necessary): New York Rangers @ New Jersey at 6

p.m. ET

Sunday, April 30 - Game 5 (if necessary): San Jose @ Nashville at 8:30 p.m.

ET

Tuesday, May 2 - Game 6 (if necessary): Buffalo @ Philadelphia at 7 p.m. ET

Tuesday, May 2 - Game 6 (if necessary): Dallas @ Colorado (time to be

determined)

Thursday, May 4 - Game 7 (if necessary): Philadelphia @ Buffalo at 7 p.m. ET

Thursday, May 4 - Game 7 (if necessary): Colorado @ Dallas (time to be

determined)

Question From: Jeff

Question:

Thanks for switching the feed to the Rangers game. It's not like I don't

already have two options already to watch the Devils trap trap trap the

Rangers. The Devils are the most boring team in hockey. You switched away

from a very exciting, and now getting nasty, Buffalo/Philly game. You suck.

The first thing I did this morning was to fire off two e-mails. I would hope that all the rest of you would do the same.

Jeff

I got the same BS:

Question From: Jeff

Question:

I was very disappointed to have missed almost an entire period of the

Sabres

game last night. I like your broadcast, but I tuned in to see the

Sabres

game not the Dallas or the NJ game!

That is BS! I didn't even get a reply when I emailed them yesterday. I didn't even tell them that 'they suck' and I still didn't get a reply.

Well, here it goes, They suck!

I live local again but I still emailed Direct TV for you guys, what they did was total BS. I told them that I was planning on switching to Direct TV when my cable TV promos ended, but after reading what they did to the sabres game there was no chance because they still can't deliver a quality product to their customers.

It doesn't matter what TSN's policy is, they are Direct TV's vendor. It's direct TV's responsibility to get their supply base to meet a certain quality level for all their customers.

I don't think DirecTV is in charge of Center Ice. I think they pick it up from InDemand. As for TSN, if they want to switch coverage in the middle of the game they are getting paid to provide for Center Ice, then InDemand shouldn't carry TSN anymore.

Good news (fwiw) from NHL Center Ice themselves, here is what I received via a complaint email I sent them:

***********************************

Thank you for your email.

NHL Center Ice took the TSN feed of the Buffalo-Philadelphia game. Unfortunately, when the score of that game got out of hand, TSN decided to switch to Devils-Rangers. We were unaware and unable to switch feeds quickly. In the future, we will be taking feeds from the local RSNs instead of the national networks to avoid this problem.

Thanks,

NHL Center Ice

That's definately good news. That means more Rick and Jim. If I remember correctly, Philly's owner refuses to let their games be on Center Ice.

I think you are correct on the 1st but incorrect on the 2nd. I think CI is actually under the NHL and is provided to the various cable and satellite providers.

I tried doing a search on it, but couldn't find for certain who actually "owns" CI.

I definately could be wrong, I just assumed InDemand owns it because of the reference on the screen to check out InDemand.com for the full schedule.

I got the same canned, BS response that enviro and DC got...I have a nice (not too lengthy) response for them, but I want to CC my answer to a couple other people before I send it off, including InDemand and maybe someone at the NHL offices. Once I get some other emails to add to the response, I will post my message to TSN here.

Hopefully InDemand sticks to their promise to pick up the feeds from the RSN's and not stick with TSN...we'll see, I guess...
