[OT] First Diet, Now Exercise

The restaurant thread has sparked some good conversation regarding our eating habits. As we're in a periodic lull with the Swords, I would love to here what you folks are doing to stay in shape. I had a history of triathlons, however after the kiddos were born I fell of the wagon. I'm slowly working my way back. Current program is cycling 3 days a week, P90x 3 days a week (cardio X, yoga X, core synergistics), run 2x/week. 2 days a week are two a days. Pushups/bridges every day and biceps every other day. LTG is olympic tri in February.

I do 12 oz. curls all day long. Some days, if I am really feeling my oats, I move up to 16's.

I do multiple ladder climbs then hang off Chz's window sill at 2 AM every night.

So that's you? I have the 12-2 shift. Sorry about the mess on the fire escape.

i typically like to lift weights. normally bench press every other day in 3 sets of 10 reps, starting with 315 and working up to 355 by the 3rd set. On the off day, I'll work on biceps, curling around 125 with the bar, 55 with the dumbbells. legs are all sled. not a fan of squats; last time I did squats, I ended up not stretching properly afterwards and couldn't walk right for a week. so i throw on about 1100 and do 3 sets of 10 on the curling days.

wait ... we're talking 1994, right?

I do some sort of cardio every weekday, followed by some routine of lifting. I focus on certain muscle groups on certain days, and Wednesdays are like my core day (abs, back, etc.).

Weekends I do enough work around the house between mowing, repairs, etc, that I don't need a routine lol.

Mostly I just watch porn. Really keeps the heart rate up.

What are the chances I can get in on this Pladder X program though? Do I have to buy in or is someone willing to just give it to me? I'm clear from like 4am til I have to leave for work around 6am.

The most popular workouts for SS posters are curling pounders, watching porn, and going George McFly on Chz. Healthy crew we got here.

Weave can't tell if you're serious or not, but google 'P90x.' They're DVDs that you have to buy, but they're kick @ss. Insanity is another great program.

Cool thread. Since I lost all my weight, I really enjoy exercising now. Running my first 5k last year was a truly amazing feeling for someone who could barely walk 5k a few years ago. Ran a bunch since, and usually do 3 of them a week at the gym. Also some weight lifting but nothing too crazy. I'm 42 and would rather get toned than ripped at this point. We also go for long bike rides...rode from Lockport out past Medina and back last weekend along the canal...ended up being 42 miles. Another nice bike ride is going all the way around the perimeter of Grand Island, that's about 35 miles or so.

I'm hoping to do my first sprint triathlon this fall. Gotta find somewhere to train for the swimming part.

The exercise I enjoy most is playing tennis. I'm about a 3.5 skill level on the NTRP rating system. I absolutely LOVE playing, and would be happy to meet up for a match sometime with any of you who are between a 3.0-4.0 skill level. I live in Hamburg but am willing to drive a little and meet you halfway if you don't live too far away. PM me if interested.

Yeah, I know what P90x is, that's why I made the "do I have to buy it" crack.

My exercize for the last 14 years involved chasing my own children around the house and yard. I need to get something started more vigorous than evening walks around the neighborhood with the wife, but I'm not in the market for P90x. Right now my exercize consists of golf, said evening walks, and upland hunting in the Fall/Winter It's time to re-tune the bikes and get the old lady pedalling with me. Maybe that's a job for tomorrow afternoon.

I used to train at the BAC downtown, the pool opens at 6:15a and there is no one there in the morning. Where I am now, you have 2-3 to a lane. There, you had 4 lanes open. You don't need to train in the open water (OWS), although I would suggest getting a wetsuit as it helps with buoyancy and puts you at ease for those first few races. I know the Lockport escarpment very well, great ride.

Not a tennis player, you couldnt find a sport I'm more horrible at.

Quick diet notes, especially during these summer days; drink water with lemons or water with cayenne pepper, fresh raw garlic slices with anything. Raw vegetables in general, as much as you want. Lay off sugars of any sort and caffeine for dehydration to feel like a champ.

Tough, I know, as I sip my Pinot Grigio tonight. I work my a$$ of during the summer, if you have had dehydration once, you know.

I wish you luck. I will be 37 later this year, and after watching my physique slide for a couple years, I decided to make a change. I hit p90x for three months to start the year and loved it! I am now one month into it again. First time around I was amazed with the results.

I went from 6'1" 225 lbs to 195 lbs. (I am still 6'1".) I dropped to a waistline that I have not seen since college, and I ran collegiate cross country, so that's saying something. I feel stronger than ever.

I thrive off the system. Maybe I just needed some structure and discipline. That being said, I noticed that you are only doing a couple of days of the workouts. Why not hit it all week? I will work some doubles -- meaning do the workout from p90x and then cycle or run in the evening. So there is cross training and more than just p90x. (Usually I will do that when I feel guilt of going out and having a few beers.)

Go Sabres!

I get bored very easily, and I need to be out on the bike. Nice job on the weight loss, definitely testament to the power of Tony and the X.
