Predict the League Reaction at Noon today

My guess is the following:

Buffalo:

1. Peters suspended 1-3 games for two fights

2. Lindy Ruff fined 50,000

Ottawa:

1. Neil suspended three games

MSG:

Fined 100,000 by FCC for allowing profanity over the airways and then rebroadcasting it the next day.

Both teams, Both coaches and Both Organizations will be warned by the league of dire consequences if anything out of the ordinary happens this evening.

Don't flame the Neil prediction. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part. But I got a hunch a statement will need to be made. If you disagree, make your own.

No suspensions today. It would be too late for the Sabres to fill Peter's roster spot before game time. I think if there any suspensions/fines, they won't be handed down until next week, or they would have done it Friday giving the teams enough notice. Then again it's the NHL and they could suspend 2 or 3 Sabres before tonights game making them have to forfeit.

If the NHL does anything it may suspend Neil for going after Drury's head.

Unless getting into two fights during the same altercation is an automatic there is no reason to suspend Peters.

If there are additional suspensions it should go to Spezza for looking like such a wuss. Playing back the audio I wasn't sure if it was the whistle going or Spezza'a high pitched girlie scream.

"Mike Murphy, NHL Senior VP of Hockey Operations told Home Ice today that while it is always unfortunate to see a skilled player hurt, the hit by Chris Neil was deemed legal and not worthy of a penalty."

Which sends the wrong message to the league. Neil should have been suspended for the hit.

Fine then. There should be NO suspensions or fines for any Sabres player.

Why should Peters get suspended at all? He went after the only tough guy on the Sens, outside of McGrattan.

He also wasn't 3rd man in like many Sens fans are crying. Emery/Biron fight was long over and Emery was by himself when Peters challenged him. If the refs aren't doing their jobs correctly by keeping guys separated and escorting them ALL the way to the box, then they should be held accountable. This all came about because the officials sucked all night. That whole officiating crew should be suspended, if not fired, especially that assclown Don "I didn't see anything" Van Massenhoven.

What should the penalty have been? Charging?

I used to like Spezza but the more I see him act like such a girl I just can't seem to feel the same way about him anymore.

We've had guys man up in the past 2 weeks that don't fight. Campbell, Hecht, Lydman. That's part of being a man Jason.

And to hear him constantly whine about things to the media just sickens me. I hope somebody takes him aside tonight and gives him a good thumping. Whether it be Pomminstein or someone like that, I just hope he gets his just deserved.

I just pray we don't lose anyone to injury again.

As for suspensions. If they turn around and slap some on our guys with little time to call up guys, the Sabres should tell the NHL to go f itself and forfeit.

NO GOAL!

Neil will get nothing, neither will Lindy.

Peters will be suspended for one game.

Once again, the league will not stand up for its players (neither will the NHLPA either, where have they been) and will send the contractory message about rule enforcement, player protection, and self-policing.

Bring on the law of the west baby!

Spot on Orange Seats...

EII... Stop before... Must remind myself to not get political and make sweeping general accusations... :D

Nobody likes truth Rayzer... Gotta protect the Canadian teams...

Then Emery should be out too. Hmm... suspensions in back to back games played?

Again... The truth!

Kinda like getting out of the pokey for doing a crime... Isn't there a probabtion period?... If the rest of the Sens weren't such wusses... They would have never let Ray do this knowing he just got back from his hack job on 2-2-07...

10k fine for Ruff.

I wanna know... When do we start taking a collection to help Ruff out?!

:chris:

I know we can raise 100, 200 or so k over the internet and have him use it as a furture "trust fund."

Good job Lindy... Money well spent!

:D

It only makes us stronger!

Who cares at this point...

How can you fine Ruff for putting a certain line out on the ice? That is BS. They should have fined him for his "go out and run em" comment.

"It's a gutless move by him, I guess you could say," Spezza said Friday of Ruff's instructions. "I'll just have to make sure I protect myself tomorrow night, however that has to be."

Protect yourself the same way you did against Adam Mair you candyass!!! Gutless is how you and your linemates reacted after the hit.

If Spezza is going to protect himself tonight, he must be taking himself out of the lineup.

A fine to Ruff says this by the NHL:

You stick up for your players... You get fined!

And that is all Ruff did... He stuck up for the safety of his players the ONLY way he knew... Because God knows the NHL and it refs won't...

The NHL wants scoring... So they change the rules... They say they don't want injuries also... But, if you name isn't Sidney Crosby... You are SOL...

;)
