  1. As Heatley Proved in his first ever NHL playoffs. It was a collective shitting of the bed last year. i'm willing to give Heatley another chance on it
  2. Working waaaaaay too much. Only been able to see 5 or 6 Sens games so far this season, the rest we try to throw on the radio in the kitchen, but doesnt usually work out too well. Can i get my screen name changed btw? Hopefully next sens/sabres game i will actually be able to watch and come over to give you my take on it...
  3. ... Or gerber/emery this year. To all ottawa fans its a no brainer - Muckler probably doesnt wanna admit he was a douchebag in signing goober though.
  4. Alright, so now for the completely sober analysis. Ottawa's blue line depth is very good, I am sure that Christoph Schubert will get the nod to play d while corvo is out. personally i do not like Corvo very much as he is too soft on the puck, a worse version of pothier. Speaking of Pothier, he signed with Washington for an absurd amount of money. (2.5mil/year i believe) As for Vanek, not to take anything away from him because he did have a monster of a game with the hat trick. However he was an immature player last night, everytime he had the puck he attempted a move that would be best to save for Pond hockey in the winter. But that is what pre-season is all about. I didn't notice Spacek, which is maybe a good thing. The big difference in the game last night was the number of penalties. Ottawa's lack of experience on the blue line was prevalent and so they took many dumb penalties (some warranted, others phantom calls) but thats what I have come to expect in NHL games now. Buffalo's PP was right on, and set up nearly instantly as if it were mid season, while Ottawa's seemed to be lacking something. All in all the game was very sloppy especially the first period, but things can only get better for both the teams as both were missing Key players (atleast i think they were, i know ottawa was, as they only had 2 of their top d-men in, and one was injured)
  5. Sorry it took so long to reply to this, had to drown my sorrows a little bit after a not so depressing loss. First to answer all your questions. I would have definately kept Wade Redden as opposed to Zdeno Chara. In the series VS Buffalo last year it was apparent that Chara could not at all keep up with the younger faster guys in the game. While he was a good shutdown man when he could legally pick up and pile drive opponents, he was not nearly as effective down the stretch. 2. I would not have fired bryan murray just yet. I agree that he was outcoached by lindy ruff, it was not his fault for an early playoff exit last year, ill give him this year to see if he has any effect on the players. 3. I really cannot comment on Martin Gerber at the moment, every time he played the sens last year he frustrated me because he always eemed to have their number. He is the type of goalie that can be a game breaker, but won't always be. He is no *healthy* dominek Hasek, but probably more reliable in the end. 4. I'm not completely sure what the united center is about. But the Scotia bank place had a healthy 17 000 people tonight, which isnt bad for a pre season game that did not feature too many big names 5. I think my new boy is Patrick Eaves, he works his ass off every night and plays as if he is 60 lbs heavier than he actually is. the man is a machine, and young. He will be captain one day. 6. I really was not impressed with Corvo at all so far, but i can't judge this early, I think Hennesy will be good one day, but not for another year or two in the AHL. Martin Havlat had to go as he was being way too greedy and the arbirtration system seemed to be setting salaries way too high. So i suppose i agree with the roster changes. For now. 7. Gerber will likely have 60 starts or so while Emery will have the remaining. Although that is just Speculation as i am not actually a part of the Sens organization. Will comment more on the actual game later on. Right now i just need some sleep (3:20 am)
  6. Heya Folks, its been a long summer, but finally winding down and getting back into hockey! I'll be heading to Scotiabank Place for the game tonight and will do my best to give an unbiased report afterwords on how the game went.
  7. Good period by the Sabres, this is one game where atleast so far i hope no Buffalo fan complains about the reffing in this one, because from a neutral standpoint they have had a difference making advantage as far as it goes. Back to enjoying more hockey for me *edit* Btw, TERRIBLE diving call. Miller's stick was caught in his skate.
  8. I will again (ugh this is getting brutal) be at work during the game and listening on the radio, but im gonna throw the chat room up too! So feel free to heckle me while im gone
  9. I hate to sound like a jerk... And again - i was at work all night so i did not get to watch the game, just listen on the radio... But after every game You guys have complained about the refs - i hate to say it, but you only look at the non-calls that hurt your team, you recieved one more power play than Ottawa, and it still didnt help.
  10. Vermette mighta been what caused the confusion - every once in a while i mix up the two, because they have the same sorta look going on
  11. ..... Err Havlat has not been on the top line lol. He has played with Fish/Schaef the whole playoffs... He plays on the top PP unit if thats what you mean?
  12. Well, it has been three one goal games - one or two bounces in either direction, and Ottawa has three wins.. Not over till they win one more.
  13. Well i Realize that it is not over - The sens did come back from 3-0 against Jersey in the Conference finals, only to lose in 7. So i know its possible, they just have to get back to basics.
  14. Unfortunately i have to again Say congrats to the sabers... I only got to listen on the radio since i was at work all night so i really can't say much about the game... But from what i gather, the refs put away the whistles in the OT period - advantage sabres - not that it woulda changed the outcome - but maybe prolongued it. And don't get me wrong - im not blaming the Loss on the refereeing, because the five on three, and the penalty at the end helped us out a lot, and i really don't know if they were deserved at all. I really don't know what to say more than that for now - that win really took the heart out of the city and The senator's fans. We all know a comeback is possible - I personally do not think it will happen, but i still back my team, and know that they have the ability to pull it off. Congrats to the sabers again, on a well-earned win. Hopefully the Sens can bring something so this awesome series can be atleast continued temporarily. I would comment more, but again - i only got to listen on the radio///rush to the bar tv.
  15. When I saw Gary Bettman in the stands, i figured there would be a parade to the penalty box.
  16. Unfortunately i have to come back again and say Congrats to the Sabres. While they again got completely dominated by The Sens, they still found a way to win - a trait often found in GREAT (not good) teams. My game notes - Very nice Hit by Schaefer on Connoly - unfortunate to see him go down, and hope that he is alright, however it was a good clean hit. - Emery looked much better tonight, but still looks nervous - I want to see Alfie benched - he just looks like he doesnt give a #%^$#! and was responsible for multiple giveaways nearly leading to goals. - Miller was great tonight and stole the game for Buffalo - although most of the sens chances were to the exterior and not the Caliber that Buffalo's were. - Dont harass me too much for this, but there were multiple times were Senators were tackled football/rugby style - and there was absolutely no call on the play, especially in the third - however, i dont believe that would have made a difference because Ottawa's power play looked like crap - and Buffalo was playing possessed on the PK. Thats it for now!
  17. It all depends how the series is won. If Buffalo won all four games like they did in game one, i would have to see the Sabers showed a #%^$#!-tonne of heart, but the Sens choked. However if the series is anything like i imagine it will be (wide open - end to end - tons of hits - just an amazing series) and they lose, i wont say its because they choked, i will say its because they played against the ultimate "TEAM" And if Buffalo puts Ottawa out - i fully expect them to take the cup, and deservedly so. **EDIT Oh, and 5-2 Sens - Marty Havlat with 2
  18. Jeff Glass maybe??? played for Kootenay in the OHL... Ray is ottawa's best chance though. The loss is not his fault tonight - but he needs to step up along with the whole blue line as i've already said. I wouldnt expect to score that many on the sens again this season. *** edit, i also don't expect to score that many on the sabres again.
  19. I think for the Sens its Ray or bust. Morrison has not impressed me at all when he's played - and i have confidence that even if he sucks it up next game too - he will bounce back. As a fan i have to believe that. Flyers are a bunch of neanderthal's much like the leafs. I think dom is done - this is Rayzor's team now. That is why buffalo has a slight advantage in goal, not so much that Miller is better than Emery, but you guys do have a reliable back up in Biron, we have a reliable backup in Emery who is being forced into Starting.
  20. What a crazy game tonight! First, congrats on the win - atleast it was entertaining. Very very unstable game by the Sens Blue line tonight, they should have had it won after the Smolinski goal. Emery has to step it up as well. Expect the sens to show up more on monday
  21. How does Ruff have a distinct coaching advantage??? Also - The buffalo advantage in goal isnt Emery Vs Miller. its the backups - morrison is not very good, and biron is alright. Have fun with your Sabre-shaded-goggles.
  22. On the sens Vaclav Varada, Chris Kelly, Martin Havlat, and Tyler Arnason were the only non 15 goal scorers. Havlat would have been atleast a 30 goal scorer, and Arnason only played a handful of games on a team that actually had skill. So as far as technicalities go - we only had two forwards to not reach the 15 goals plateau as well.
