  1. Probably, if for no other reason than it'd be exciting as hell to have two picks that high. Pretty much wrecks us for hitting that cap floor though. Might be impossible.
  2. If the spell is ever broken, I'll stop. But please don't think I'm doing this for effect. I really do believe we'll screw this up. I missed all of last night's game and fully expected to see a W when I finally turned my phone back on. Surprise, surprise.
  3. Mike Schoop is doing everything he can not to join the board and start chiming in on this one.
  4. The team that wins the draft gets the no.1 pick, and then the finishing order kicks in. Last year's odds were: 1st - 25.0% - Florida Panthers 2nd - 18.8% - Colorado Avalanche 3rd - 14.2% - Tampa Bay Lightning 4th - 10.7% - Nashville Predators 5th - 8.1% - Carolina Hurricanes 6th - 6.2% - Calgary Flames 7th - 4.7% - Edmonton Oilers 8th - 3.6% - Buffalo Sabres 9th - 2.7% - New Jersey Devils 10th - 2.1% - Dallas Stars 11th - 1.5% - Philadelphia Flyers 12th - 1.1% - Phoenix Coyotes 13th - 0.8% - Winnipeg Jets 14th - 0.5% - Columbus Blue Jackets As far as we know, it's the same breakdown for the 14 teams missing the playoffs in 2014
  5. That cuts both ways. They wouldn't have changed his position if he was tearing it up as a defenseman.
  6. Deslauriers is only one year younger than Adam and still hasn't played in the NHL.
  7. Overpay for Ott or Moulson, and take a run at Brooks Orpik. It won't help the tank but we're not going to finish at the bottom anyway. EDIT: Just looking at CapGeek, there are a lot of guys age 35+ that we could overpay with 2-3 year contracts to hit this floor. Probably better than having the young players learn from AHL vets.
  8. Welcome to Dallas. Those are the Star's "Ice Girls." Such a crazy coincidence down here that the best ice maintainence professionals in the area just happen to be beautiful women.
  9. SPOILER ALERT: Yes. The Sabres are going to blow their draft status this year. Next year too. This is what they do. This is ALL they do. If they gave out banners for teams playing well late in the season after sucking for the most of the year, we'd be the most storied franchise in the league at this point. And, no, none of these late runs ever amount to anything. We can have the best record in hockey from January 1st through the end of the regular season and then be absolutely terrible again come October, November, and December. The ending to the movie doesn't change no matter how many times you watch the Blu Ray. "They're going to completely tank now......OK, now......OK, NOW.......OK, that's a few more wins in a row but NOW!.....with the latest injuries, the tank should really start now......huh, that's weird...."
  10. Yeah, well..... something something John Scott.
  11. The Tank is Done. Now we're good???
  12. Nolan just said goaltending was "90% of the game" and Enroth is suddenly the best goaltender in the world, so we're basically contenders already before we make any trades or sign anyone. That was fast.
  13. I love you, Jhonas, but we're trying to finish dead last this year. Can you nap through the next game? "Everything is proceeding exactly as I have foreseen....." We're going to do everything possible to wreck our draft position from now until the end of the season. All the "who should we pick first or second?" talk is going to look ridiculous in retrospect. Better start hoping Hudson Fasching is a home run.....
  14. Making your way in the world today takes everything you got......
  15. McNabb played in the NHL and was an AHL all-star three times.
  16. He's 23 and has never played an NHL game. We're really stretching the definitions of "kid" and "prospect" for Deslauriers. This trade will be made or broken based on how Fasching turns out. Definitely.
  17. I feel like we just learned the hard way that waiting until the deadline isn't always your best course of action. Not to mention we traded Pominville last year because his value was higher with an extra year left on the contract. Right now we have no idea what Stafford's value will be in a year.
  18. Total d1ck move. You don't have to retire Miller's number, but you can unofficially retire it for a while by keeping others away from it. The guy just spent a decade as the backbone of our team.
  19. BTW, for all the crap we've given Darcy and for all the celebrating we did when he was finally fired, Vanek to the Islanders is still BY FAR the best trade we made this year*. [*Unless Fasching or one of the other prospects Murray traded for later turns out to be a star or something.]
  20. Accidents happen. Sometimes the sun never comes out because it's overcast all day. I guess the concern is that the Isles might accidentally do something right -- or fire Snow for his cartoonish level of incompetence.
  21. The three 2nd rounders next year are great, but that 1st round pick is amazing to dream about. It's either a top 5 this year or, in all likelihood, a top 10 next year. Let's hope the Islanders stay incompetent.
