They SHOULD win their first round series. After that it's sort of a coin flip. Ott and Miller should help. And basically getting a two-week vacation a month and a half before the playoffs should help Miller who, IMO, gets burned out during the regular season playing so often for Buffalo.

If Nolan is staying around, it's going to be Girgensons at some point. I sorta hope we go with four Alternates next year (maybe even rotate a little) to spread the pressure out.

I've said this a bunch, but if Myers ever gets back to what he was in his first season, he *is* the rebuilding plan. Or maybe we'll trade him for Ryan O'Reilly this week.

There is nothing less surprising than the Sabres ending the season by wrecking their draft position. Nothing.

I remember reading about him leading up to the 2013 draft. But, like most of the 2013 picks, I stopped paying much attention when someone else got him. Not a glowing endorsement but it's not like he's a total nobody.

Wow. Liking the trade a lot more for this.

I think seeing both guys cry at the press conference sends a stronger message to the rest of the hockey world about our city than anything negative you're conjuring up right now.

Then traded to Drummondville to score 15 points in 20 games? These aren't eye-popping numbers for the Q. Not that you can take the Q stats seriously, but you'd expect more from a scorer. He. Didn't. Want. To. Stay. Miller said it himself. He's turning 34 next year. He doesn't have time to be part of a long-term rebuild. He gets a great shot at the Cup this year and he can go to (or stay with) a contender for the next few years after that. Be happy for the guy.

Seems like he's having a lousy year this year too.

If the Blues win the Cup this summer, there's a decent chance at least one of them would re-sign here.

You must be unfamiliar with the Sabres' annual heroic "let's F up the draft pick" push.

It says a lot about our city that Ott can be here for a season and a half and be this emotional about moving on.

It all comes down to if you think Chris Stewart is someone you'd want the Sabres to build around for the future. I don't. "He's good enough to be a first liner on this team" means nothing to me (we stink -- Foligno is good enough to be a first liner right now). And a guy who struggles with consistency and motivation isn't someone I'm excited about. Keep going, Tim.

What about all of his other seasons? He's nothing special.

First Impression: Pretty underwhelmed. Halak is a UFA. Hope we trade him by Wednesday. Stewart isn't anything special. Hope we trade him by Wednesday. Carrier isn't a super exciting prospect. 1st round pick in 2015 is good but it's probably going to be in the second half of the 1st round. Conditional 3rd round pick in 2016 is OK, but it's conditional and it's 28 months away. Meh. Hopefully Murray has something in the works for Stewart and Halak.

Unless I'm missing something from looking at Stewart's career numbers, no way is he a top 6. NO ONE is trading that pick.

Is there any reason not to try to trade Halak by Wednesday? Someone wants a back-up for the playoff run? Are we flipping Stewart to Ottawa or was that all speculation?

That's what I'm thinking.

It's really weird to think of Ryan Miller playing on the same team as guys like Gratton, Barnes, Varada, Warrener, and Satan. That feels like a completely different era.
