  1. Audio posted: John Vogl ‏@BuffNewsVogl 1m Audio: President Ted Black, GM Tim Murray discuss Sabres' wild weekend http://bit.ly/OQNiTg
  2. Sure, if they stick around. They guy who hired them lasted 108 days before bolting for mysterious reasons. It doesn't even sound like Nolan is sure he wants to stay, if you can believe that. You couldn't make this up.
  3. This is like Superman being shipped off of Krypton right before the whole planet explodes. Damn right he should be happy. Go win the Cup, Ryan.
  4. I was off the grid for most of yesterday and it's looking like that was a good thing. I think yesterday was the day where begin a Sabres fan officially became akin to rooting for the good guys on Game of Thrones. Every time you think things can't possibly get worse, they do. I've hated our roster for a while, but this is the first time I can say I have ZERO faith in Pegula. Right now everything feels like it's built on sand.
  5. I remembered typing this and I wanted to go back to see some of the posts from when the announcement was made. I guess the random way the Sabres decided to clean house -- not during the off-season but in the middle of #Blueprint -- was a bad sign after all. This is the least faith I've ever had in the team and its future. Even during the bankruptcy stuff, I figured we'd eventually get a new owner and move from there. But right now we just have aggressively incompetent leadership.
  6. The Panthers and Islanders both lost in regulation this afternoon, in case you forgot that nightmares can come true. Flames and Oilers play each other tonight so at least one of the other tank teams will get points today.
  7. Bingo. There is NOTHING good about this. Last night all I would have wanted for the Sabres was to concentrate on making more trades this weekend. Now there's some sort of power struggle happening. At best, this will turn out to be some sort of minor blemish on the franchise. At worst, we're about to become a radioactive franchise and set ourselves back another couple years.
  8. If this is about Nolan again, he's never getting another NHL shot. I can't think of anyone else capable of conjuring up this level of dysfunction and confusion wherever they go.
  9. If we're just going to speculate wildly, I'll admit that this occurred to me too. That "interim" tag has been an elephant in the room. Another reason why completely changing your leadership mid-season, picking a new coach, and THEN picking a new GM was a really F'ed up way to do things.
  10. BTW, if this is PLF walking away, we're officially the most dysfunctional we've ever been. Which is actually astonishing given all the hope we had when Pegula took over 3 years ago.
  11. They're busy on Twitter telling the fans how stupid they are.
  12. Nobody should be shaking up anything in leadership 4 days before the trade deadline.
  13. Really depends on if we can flip Halak and Stewart (and if that is even the plan). If we trade both of them for a 2nd round pick each (doesn't seem crazy), then our return is a 2015 1st, three 2nds (one being Carrier), and either a 2014 1st or a 2016 3rd. And hopefully Murray has something more inventive up his sleeve than just moving Halak and Stewart for one draft pick each. We need a lot more trades by Wednesday.
  14. Other than Grigorenko, did we rush anyone else? Pominville got over 200 AHL games (and put up points pretty quickly after arriving, so the temptation would have been there to bring him up early). Miller played most of three seasons in the AHL. This is skewed by the 2004-2005 lockout but we definitely didn't rush those guys. I think the Grigorenko thing took on a life of its own and we ended up treating him more like a PR gimmick than a young player. It was egregious but not the norm.
  15. Fell in love with Reinhart and Bennett. Getting ready to settle for Dal Colle or Draisaitl. Or worse. "This is the sound of settling......"
  16. I'd like to see what Bailey could do on an OHL team that isn't completely terrible. But, yeah, he's not ready anyway. We drafted him as a *very* raw prospect and he'll need extra time. He's still not even close to growing into his 6'3" frame. Figure he's another guy who gets at least a couple seasons in Rochester before we think of putting him in for the Sabres.
  17. The Wolves are good but the Rangers are just about the worst team in the OHL. I wouldn't mind adding Baptiste to the Amerks but Bailey is much more likely. But would we sign him this early?
  18. Carrier has a ton of great attributes but they are all negated if he can't stay healthy. I also wonder if his "meh" stats in the Q are because his skill set isn't ideal for that league. (Hopefully that's the case.) My guess is we put him in the AHL this fall and leave him there for 2 full seasons to develop before we expect anything. He's a long term project at best.
  19. I don't know if he will or if he won't, but I want to find out. Let's just give him a season. We aren't going to win next year anyway, so let's finally find out what Enroth can do as a no.1. It'll be satisfying just to find out either way -- and especially if he surprises everyone.
  20. This came up in another thread recently, but I take HockeysFuture's stuff with a serious grain of salt at this point. Their ratings still say Catenacci and Ruhwedel both have higher ceilings than Girgensons. I don't think they update enough and I'm not sure how they decide on their ratings. I don't want to criticize them too much either, since figuring out what 18 year olds are going to be even a year from now seems wildly difficult. FWIW, if Carrier had the same numbers in the OHL this season that Baptiste does, I'd be over the moon about getting him. Baptiste is just having a monster year and hopefully it's the real deal.
  21. Another goal and an assist for Baptiste last night, he's up to 40 goals and 79 points on the season as of this morning through 59 GP.
  22. And horrible.
  23. Maybe, maybe not. Halak is UFA so they hopefully they ship him to Minnesota by Wednesday. Enroth for the rest of the season is fine.
