Your opinion differs with that of the management. Perhaps the way they see it is that they think he's learned all he can at the AHL level and will develop into a better product next season if he stays up this season, while Sheahan wouldn't even be here next season. And frankly I don't playing Sheahan over Krebs is going to help the Sabres win games. It's not like Sheahan was knocking it out of the park when he played with the Sabres this year.

Are The Sabres A Dark Horse Contender for Jakob Chychrun?

Maybe because they're a recent add to the field of prospective destinations (echo chamber effect), but pretty much all the Tweets about Chychrun today are talking about a trade to Buffalo. -

The way this will end is a hockey pundit will state that a trade with another team is imminent and will leak the return, and then one of the Islanders, Kings, Blue Jackets or Sabres will pony up something very close to that and land Chychrun. Kind of like what Kevyn did to move Eichel. -

After watching the Eichel trade play out, you know that any rumored trade returns are merely negotiating positions, not minimum acceptable offers. -

He takes too many bad penalties. Like stupid bad. -
I didn't. But do you really think that The Toronto organEYEzation even wants him? That playing for the Marlies is substantively better than playing for the Amerks? If you're talking about "close to home" and his home is his hometown of St. Catherines, TO is a little over an hour away; Rochester is an hour and a half. Do you think being a half hour closer is *that* important to him? Because I can't imagine him even having a shot of playing time with the Leafs unless they have a huge rash of injuries.
