It won't go through and here's why: Let's say the Wenatchee Wild had a good program, brings in great players and is very good at developing them. Instead of reaping the benefits of their work their team would be picked clean of their NHL prospects and it would hurt the team. That's the reason for the current rule on the whole league. If there was some limited plundering allowed it could affect the best teams disproportionately.

Anchor Bar is widely considered to be the birthplace of wings. It doesn't mean they're the best, but they are regarded as the original. (Yes, I know there are other origin stories.)

It's cold here in Texas this morning. Yet I snuck out to my car in the garage, and from my car to my office, without a coat. You see, in Texas, cold means 49 degrees. We will get below freezing at times but it's not too frequent, although in recent years we've had temps that dipped below 0 (which still isn't awful, except that houses aren't built for weather that cold and frozen pipes are a risk).

To be honest, I went five years ago because my mom had surgery and I could see the Anchor Bar from the parking garage in the hospital district. So I suggested to Frank (my mom's boy toy) that we go there for lunch. It strikes me that Frank accompanies me on all my Buffalo food pilgrimages.

So looking at the standings, the Sabres are toward the back of the pack but they're still in the pack. They are basically a 3-4 game winning streak from a WC spot. I feel optimistic they have it in them, but I can also see where that might not come to pass. At this point the fact they're running an 11F/7D lineup some nights tells me that the roster is broken. If they really think that 7 Dmen should be playing, I would take one of them and put him on the wing. It might be a really good experience for Owen Power developmentally- get him into an offensive mindset both for eventually moving back and playing D and contributing offensively, and seeing how a forward thinks as plays develop. Put him on PP2 as the bumper/net front presence. He's a big boy; it should teach him a thing or two and he might actually be effective in that spot.

So who would that go to on the Sabres? Savoie or Benson? Okay so..... two exceptions per team. 😉

Really? My old 2005 Elantra would light up a light on the dash, and when it got less than 50 miles projected range would beep at me.

In a replay from the corner camera, his skates were nowhere near the crease, just his stick blade. It looked like the puck was going wide, he directed it further wide with the heel of his stick, although he didn't get all of it. That's why it looked like a closer call than it was- after going of the heel you can see him react quickly to gain control, but at first glance it looks like he's trying to keep it out of the net. That moment was already past though.

He was good on Sunday. I don't think any goalie has been good consistently enough to be called a #1. They've all had ups and downs.

Yeah, if I think of famous music acts out of Buffalo, Rick James and Spyro Gyra are the two that come to mind. And unless you're into jazz fusion you probably haven't heard of Spyro Gyra.

I never went to Anchor Bar when I lived in Buffalo, went for the first time just a few years ago. I mean if you're from Buffalo, why to out of your way? Just go to the neighborhood wing joint. It's more of a tourist site than a real place to eat now, is the sense I got. Buffalo Wild Wings is like Texas Roadhouse: Neither of them has any roots in the place that is in their name. BWW came out of Ohio and is now owned by the same company that owns Arby's.... that should be all you need to know about that abomination. (Texas Roadhouse started in Inidana, by the way.) Same. Generic emo grunge to me. fify

That's kind of the point of this thread (in my mind when I started it)... when people talk about "Buffalo things", what are the things you never got involved with because it happened after you left?

All Buffalo stuff is tribalism at its root, and tribalism, in the extreme, is dumb.

I won't say it was UPL or the team in front of him that gave the Sabres the win today; it was a combination of both playing well enough to win.
