Devon Levi watch, update: he's returning to college
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
If we get burned again by any of our college draftees.....Levi, Johnson, even Portillo or heaven forbid Power....we should never draft a college bound player again....unless the NHL changes the rules so that teams can retain rights indefinitely. -

Toker needs to learn how to poke check on these shootouts. -
Can Jacob Bryson be effective in the playoffs?
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Hard question to answer, but in IMHO - Bryson plays "bigger" than his size. He's built pretty solid and does not seem to shy away from contact. -
Do You Think Sabres Will Make Playoffs Next Year?
Carmel Corn replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
No, but I am hoping they can end above .500. IMHO - they will finally breakthrough the season after next. -
My mistake...I was hoping that a new TT contract could emphasize more money during the early years to consume more cap space while we still presumably have room. Looking ahead a few years, we would have to address another Dahlin contract plus any of our younger players whose rookie contracts would expire. If that's not how the cap math works, then thanks for the correction.

Seems fair! Maybe front load it so to allow room for another Dahlin extension and expiring rookie contracts for our prospects?

Hope Tuch is okay...another hard impact, this time the boards. -

Krebs got dumped in the offensive zone, but sprung up and showed nice hustle getting back to defend. -
He's an <30 aged RHD with an otherwise decent +/- history before coming to Buffalo. If we trade him, would be great if GMKA could do a "Darcy Regier" and get a first rounder like Darcy got for Paul Gaustad 10 years ago (I know Goose was a center vs. RHD). Realistically though, I'd guess a 3rd round in 2022 or a 2nd round in 2023.

Jack vs Tuch/Krebs - Has this hockey trade improved either team?
Carmel Corn replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Vegas beat Florida last night, but Eichel got hurt in the second (hand/arm) blocking a shot. Didn't play in the 3rd...no idea how long he is out, but once again the injury curse has returned. -
Robin Lehner, Vegas starting goalie, might be done for season

Late game last night, but the Knights managed to beat the Panthers. Something of note, Eichel sustained an "upper body injury" during the game. He blocked a shot with his right hand/arm late in the second. He finished the 2nd, but did not play in the 3rd. No idea if he's going to be out for any games or not, but his injury curse continues. -

Kind of takes me back 30 years when the names were Gretzky and Messier. -

Good to see Miller back in the lineup tonight....I know he's a UFA, but part of me would not mind having him back (if he could be re-signed with a reasonable contract). He had one especially bad season with Buffalo, but otherwise he has been fairly neutral from a +/- standpoint on other teams. Being a RHD on a third pairing would be okay with me. -
Agree, would like to see a legit power forward type player on each scoring line. Saw Comtois play a little earlier this week...saw bits of speed, good hands and vision. If given a chance to swap with VO, I would make that deal.

I've taken in some of their recent games. The quality scoring opportunities seem to be heavily weighted to the Eichel line, meaning if you can defend them well, then there is not a wealth of secondary scoring right now. Also, Max Pacioretty has been hurt and that along with Stone being out really hurts their firepower. Goaltending has not been a strength as well. Maybe a .500 team for a while.

I agree with the first statement....Eichel does not consistently push the pace. I've taken in some VGK games lately and Jack still "floats" considerably in his game. Once in a while, he will drive the action with the puck, but more often than not he is simply gliding around with his stick in the air. Yes he is still a strong puck handler and passer, but imagine if he played every shift with intensity and a high motor? He simply doesn't do that, despite his gifts. -

Blue Jackets 5, VGK 4....Eichel with a PP goal early in the 3rd.
